The General Lee has probably been wrecked & frame wracked too many times, so nope. That DeLorean seemed to have ignition issues. Unreliable, so nope. Kitt would never shut up, so definitely nope. Ghostbusters too weird/haunted and A-team van probably reeks of cigar smoke, sweat and testosterone. Nope. Mad Max & all the cop tv show cars probably worn out engines and bullet holes, so nope. That leaves the Bond car. No doubt top of the line, and nice little "features"... Yeah, ok... Just pray it doesn't explode when I turn the key! Posted by: JQ at July 25, 2026 10:20 PM (rdVOm) 48

Speaking of classic cars, we saw a '66 (?) Chevy Chevelle, a Super Sport, on the avenue this evening. Steel blue, matching interior, a muffler that let you know the car was coming. He had the windows rolled down and cruised past us in an eyeblink as Linda was saying, "Is that old car strong enough to pass us . . .?"
The Chevelle I think was better proportioned than the full-size Chevy of that year, the Impala and Caprice. Chevelle was built on the same A-Body platform as the Pontiac Tempest -- which had a special model we know now as the GTO. Nesmith was the only accomplished musician as far as playing an instrument. Davey Jones was a singer, so I guess that counts, and banging a tambourine. Chicks dug him, of course. The one demographic that didn’t diss the Monkees were other bands, because they knew how the industry worked. The Wrecking Crew and other session musicians played on scores and scores of top hits and albums. The Monkees became a “real” band eventually, or wanted to be. Tork’s house in Laurel Canyon was party station, at all times.
