Jim Jordan Makes a Criminal Referral to the DOJ For Jack Smith's Perjury; Melania Presses Sanctions Against Democrat Media Party Hatchet Man Michael Wolff

The criminal referral is for his perjury in denying that he and his team had read the contents of congressmen's texts.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan issued a criminal referral against former Special Counsel Jack Smith on Wednesday for allegedly making "willfully and intentionally false statements" when testifying before Congress last December.
"The Committee on the Judiciary writes to refer strong evidence that appears to show Jack Smith, former Special Counsel, knowingly made false statements during his December 17, 2025 deposition," Jordan wrote in a letter sent to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
In the letter, Jordan questioned what Smith said under oath about obtaining phone records of 44 lawmakers who communicated with President Donald Trump and other members of the White House related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
"This information calls into question the completeness and accuracy of statements that Mr. Smith made under oath to the Committee regarding his team's access to the content of Members' text messages," Jordan wrote.
Jordan stated that responses by Smith during congressional testimony "gave the impression that neither Mr. Smith nor his team had access to the content of members' privileged text messages."
"We now know this to be false," Jordan wrote.
"His conduct can only be understood as an effort to thwart the Committee's inquiry by intentionally making false statements and representations before Congress. We therefore believe that sufficient evidence exists for DOJ to examine whether Mr. Smith's actions warrant a charge," the letter added.

Melania is meanwhile seeking judicial sanctions against Michael Wolff, a persistently unethical and loathsome gay gossip columnist posturing as a journalist.

Her legal team argued the first lady should be granted the sanctions because Wolff allegedly manufactured a jurisdictional dispute in an attempt to keep the case in New York state court, used litigation for improper purposes and made a "frivolous" claim.
First lady Melania Trump filed a motion for sanctions Tuesday against journalist Michael Wolff, after he tried to sue her to prevent her from suing him over allegedly defamatory statements he made regarding her and Jeffrey Epstein.
The first lady is now looking to recover costs and reasonable attorneys' fees incurred in Wolff's lawsuit, along with other appropriate relief, saying the lawsuit was "a fundraising drive and a political spectacle," according to Fox News.

"Plaintiff and his counsel asserted a legally frivolous claim, propped it up with factual contentions that lacked any evidentiary support, and used them to run a political and commercial campaign," her team said in the filing. "They should pay for Mrs. Trump's fees and expenses incurred for the process they abused."
The legal team argued Wolff wrongly claimed the first lady was heavily involved in the Epstein scandal, despite her denying a friendship with the late convicted sex-offender and his ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell.

Sanctions are usually -- and deliberately -- hard to get. The law allows and assumes that parties will litigate their cases aggressively and push the envelope. So it takes some truly outrageous behavior and/or truly frivolous legal arguments to get an award of sanctions.

I've seen it only a few times in my entire career, and even then almost always after the judge already told the plaintiff/defendant to knock it off. Such as the infamous "Motion to Kiss My Ass" that some lunatic made years ago.

I don't know enough about this case to opine on Melania's chances of winning the motion. But I do know she will start with at uphill climb even in the best circumstances.

An excavation adjacent to the Temple Mount uncovered some burned, but still intact roof beams from a building believed to have been part of the 1st Temple complex. Significance - the size of the beams means that tree ring patterns are clearly identifiable, and they believe that they will now be able to date the building of the 1st Temple complex to within 10 years.

I often ask myself if my beliefs are correct. One of the positive signs that I'm on track politically is that my "tribe" freely quotes the opposition, usually even in context. And, outside of brainwashing our children, we welcome freedom of speech for both sides because it allows us to make our case and also allows everyone to see that our opposition is insane and can't make a rational case for their beliefs.

On the other hand, the opposition can't afford to allow alternative views to be heard and do everything they can to protect their bubble.

There are different flavors of lefties.

The people in my sphere are lefties to get social points. I'm pretty sure they don't believe a damn thing they say either though they still vote as if they did.

As soon as it stops being a bonus for saying lefty crap they'll stop. But the difficult part is how do you get the various oligarchs, NGOs, and media figures that give this social credit for quoting leftwing talking points to stop?

That is a choice on how you want to see the world. I have seen reports of bitter-enders in the USDoJ all decide to quit together , and heard Harmeet Dhillon refer to that as a gift. FBI is actually doing something about actual people who are actually hurting people, which is a nice change.
If it is a smoke screen, then at least it is accomplishing the agency goals. Also, Patel was targeted by Smith, so there may be some animus there.
