13 Bears in the wild often look a little bedraggled and have sticks and crap in their fur.

Ordinarily a black bear will run away at the sight of humans, until dumb shits start feeding them. Then they learn humans won’t do shit in the parks except bang pots or something. They are a pest at best.

Grizzly bears are different. Lewis and Clark noted they would attack on first sight, running at full gallop. That tends to get your attention. I’m not sure if this trait is still evident but they will fuck your day up when so inclined.

Nope, probably not. It’s one of the best parts of the Journals. They didn’t “discover” the Grizzly Bear, but they were completely unknown to Science. So they were looking forward to seeing them, or so they thought.

Prior to contact, they were a little over-confident. Yeah, the Plains Indian nations geared up for a Grizzly hunt like they were getting ready for war. But no bear could be a match for a modern Infantry rifle company. C’mon.

Then, they started seeing enormous grizzly besr tracks in the mud. Hm. They sure look pretty big, boss!

AFTER nearly getting killed, shooting them 5 times through different directions, through the lungs, and them being very hard to kill Lewis had a Mea culpa.

So you're in a state that would allow you to buy the gun but not the 30 round mag? Seems odd but maybe you could ask your dealer to open the factory package and remove the mag. I'm not sure what the legalities of that are.

The Russian tanks were better than ours because our procurement department General had a beef with the guy who invented the tank suspension and sloped armor. He ended up selling it to Russia.

There were also the old-school "punt guns" that were used for market hunting of waterfowl back when that was legal. Some of those bad boys would fire over a pound of shot at once. They were boat-mounted, not shoulder fired. Rumor has it that beyond a certain size they had to be registered with the navy, for potential requisition in war time.

When I was a kid a friend's grandpa had an 8 gauge (aka 8 bore) gun hanging on the wall. It was never fired to my knowledge, but man that thing was a beast.

Japan had that problem with their aircraft. I read there was one factory that didn't have an airstrip anywhere near it, so a finished plane would have to be driven through town by oxen to the nearest airstrip quite some distance. Plus, they really couldn't train pilots quickly enough. Until they only needed to train them to take off. Not land.

Doctrine at the time was that tank destoyers were to kill enemy tanks. But if there was a tank spotted, the US would send a unit of 5 tanks out to meet it. If three or more tanks, they would send three units of 5 tanks.
