45 Wiki-
The Destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem" is a significant historical painting completed in 1867. It depicts the catastrophic event of the Second Temple's destruction during the Roman siege of Jerusalem in 70 CE. This moment marked a pivotal point in Jewish history, leading to widespread diaspora and suffering.

100 The Jews revolted and paid the price. The Christians did not, and also often paid the price, but eventually Rome fell to them and not the other way around.

At all points, though, one iron-hard fact remained, and caused all these developments: a universalist, monotheistic faith cannot coexist within a polytheistic Empire that demands obeisance be paid to its civic gods.

One or the has to give up eventually. Something's got to give.

138 Destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem
Francesco Hayez

The painting is well done, very detailed.

The Destruction of The Temple of Jerusalem is an 1867 history painting by the Italian artist Francesco Hayez. It depicts the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem during the storming of the city by Roman Army during the Great Jewish Revolt. (Wikipedia)

Reportedly, the Temple in Jerusalem has been destroyed twice in history. Both destructions occurred on the same date on the Hebrew calendar, the 9th of Av (Tisha B'Av), a day of mourning marked annually at the Western Wall Plaza.
---
The First Temple (586 BCE): The Babylonian Empire led by King Nebuchadnezzar II.

The majority of the Jewish population was exiled to Babylon, beginning a period of captivity that lasted for decades.

The Second Temple (70 CE) The Roman Empire led by General (later Emperor) Titus.

Culminating a four-year Jewish insurgency in Judaea, the Romans besieged Jerusalem during Passover. After breaching the city defenses, Roman legionaries set the Temple complex on fire. The destruction was total.

There is much more detail available. Read.

A fine lesson. I might hang today's art offering.
Thanks.

146 What burns in temple made of stone?

During the destruction of the Jerusalem Temples, the massive fires were fueled by flammable structural wood, furnishings, and stored oils rather than the stone walls themselves. While the buildings were made of stone, they contained extensive internal wood and combustibles.

Roof beams, cedar and sycamore framework, ceiling panels, and large doors. Tapestries, woven linen, curtains, and wooden furniture.

Sacred olive oil stored for the menorah, alongside other flammable goods in adjacent storerooms.

Intense heat from burning wood and oil scorched, cracked, and caused the limestone structures to collapse.

The family had dined at a bar and grill restaurant just prior to boarding the boat. I sure hope Grandpa hadn't been consuming alcohol to the point that it put his BAC above the legal limit.

Ezra-Nehemiah closed the issue when they instituted the Wood Festival around that time. Of course when the temple was destroyed again several of those festivals weren't able to be held.

197 China's efforts to stymie our ability to build datacenters is because they're so far behind in AI tech. They're actively trying to steal every AI model out there, and have succeeded in some cases. Their homegrown code sucks dog balls, and their domestic IC production churns out chips that are shit.

Slowing the US down is their only hope to remain competitive in the AI race.

So, of course the left is going to help them. *spits*

I agree with everything except the idea that China will never become competitive. 1.5B smart, hardworking people will make progress no matter what. That is not to say that China won't try to steal anything that isn't tied down. They will, and we need to take appropriate countermeasures.

If you would notice the faces more, like I do, you could screen the nasal piercings out ahead of time.
