Singh entered the U.S. illegally in 2018. He told DHS he feared for his life in India and stayed.
However, then-President Donald Trump's administration did not issue Singh a work visa.
But in 2021, the administration of former President Joe Biden granted Dingh a work permit, allowing him to obtain a license in California.
Singh received a full-term commercial driver's license in Washington in 2023 despite not being eligible for one.
To make matters worse, in July 2024, California issued Singh a limited-term non-domiciled commercial driver's license despite his failing the English Language Proficiency assessment, answering two of 12 verbal questions, and accurately identifying only one of four highway signs.

DHS issues a Final Rule to end Foreign Student Visa Abuse.

F, J, and I visas now all have a fixed period of being able to stay in America.

Before people where staying on F-1 visas "studying" for 10+ years. Now Both F and J visas are capped at 4 years. I visas are now capped to 240 Days.

The grace period for transferring schools or status after graduation has been cut in half. This also importantly changes who can extend these visas.

Before University Staff would actually have a lot of say on this, offering their recommendation to extending stays. Now USCIS is back in full control for extending these visas.

Another visa being abused is having loopholes closed pretty tightly. More excuses to forcibly deport troublemakers here on visas.

Assets are long gone. The entire structure of these shady companies is LLCs owning LLCs owning LLCs and one LLC leasing to the other. The real money is siphoned out from the "money earner" LLC as soon as possible.

My understanding of how eVerify works is that it doesn't.

Jose Rodruiguez gives an SSN actually assigned to Joe Bob, and eVerify passes it anyway.

The company has no enforcement option, and they have to accept the result as verified even if not.

So, they legally use it, see that it fails, and they're protected on the legal front.

Want to go after employers? I think the only real option beyond smaller operators who don't use it is going to be statutory changes to how eVerify works.

It's been a running story in the last few years of how companies are skirting that. I suspect it's part of the entire package against H1-B that the DOJ is forming.

The DOJ is making obvious moves to eliminate OPT completely and scale back H1-B as much as they can unilaterally (elimination of H1-B requires an act of Congress, but not OPT).

But I think we can take it at a more fundamental level. The sole point in having a federal/national government is to protest you from external threats. If it can't do that it isn't a real government.

Yes. H1-B visas are not for the "smartest people in the world who are drawn to freedom and prosperity." They are for scammers to keep wages down.

They are primarily used for standard-duty jobs that can be filled by Americans - probably easily, possibly with some difficulty or short delay, but absolutely doable.

Part of the problem is that there are still states that do variable speed limits with lower ones for trucks. Unless a road has infinite lanes this cannot work except as a sneaky and very dangerous speed limit for all.

An Algerian man who tried to rape a woman near Buckingham Palace was released by police despite being caught in the act, a UK judge has revealed.

Ramzi Barkat, 54, attacked a lone woman in London's St James's Park in September 2024 after she rejected his advances, tackling her to the ground and attempting to rape her before three passing soldiers intervened after hearing her screams.

Despite being arrested, Barkat was released by police and remained free for about a year.

Sentencing him to 7 years and 3 months in prison, Judge Justin Cole condemned the investigation as a "catalogue of incompetencies," saying Barkat had been "caught red-handed" yet was allowed to walk free while posing "a continuing danger to the public."

Barkat was also convicted of assaulting one of the soldiers who stopped the attack and was handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a 10-year restraining order."

295 In W. Europe truck speed limits are often much lower than passenger vehicles on expressways. Could be 30-40 km/h differences. And it works fine because the police enforce that religiously. Along with no passing in the left lane laws.
