Let's call out the pink donkey in the room. There's widespread speculation that the guy is in the closet, and anybody who's lived a few years has known guys in the closet, and well, this dude gives off vibes like he's in the closet. I don't know if he's in the closet. I do know that if he is in the closet, he should have come out and been honest about who he was. If he's lying about that, what else is he lying about?

Ellison explained that he believes a man using erectile dysfunction medication, a woman receiving reconstructive surgery after a double mastectomy, or a woman with hair loss wearing a wig are all practicing "gender-affirming care."

The Karen trope is not about the role of elder women to instruct and police younger women to teach them propriety. It is much younger, and the role of older family members and mentors in women's life was intentionally eroded by feminism in the 70s or earlier.

The closing of the slave trade in 1808 meant that the price of a slave was high, so for most conditions were more tolerable than, say, a Roman mine. In fact it was common for a slave to 'light off' and camp outside the plantation in a swamp or wooded area for a vacation and have food smuggled to him or her by other slaves and stay there for a bit until the owner would pass the word they could come back for small or no punishment.

Real life is more complex than modern 'historians' think.

I got into a fairly intense discussion with an older liberal lady about why "Cake walk" was considered a racist term.
The answer I came up with, after I had a day or so to think about it, was that such activity while not being overtly subservient and fully being culturally cohesive, were still considered by radical black to be signs of being an uncle tom, and culturally accepting the world as it was instead of striving for a new, revolutionary world which would be free of the stain of slavery and culturally open to the new way of doing things that included socialism and communism.

Gone With The Wind is similar, it shows something other than what is presented in Jango or other recent movies about antebellum slavery as being violent as well as being destructive to human dignity.

The LAX incident I'm aware of was his infamous haircut.

I was on a plane departing LAX, and just before we pushed back from the gate, a 'ground halt' was called. to accomodate AF-1 with the Clintons. What was supposed to be a 20 minute or so delay turned into 3 and 1/2 hours. Slavery was (is) a humiliation and inhuman, and that can not be overstated.

However, work is work and we are all slaves to our need to work. Our need to eat and raise a family. Slavery in all forms mostly provided security and sustenance, and that is not nothing. You can't say that though because it sounds like apologism. Both can be true, it can be inhuman and an insult, and wrong, and also be not nearly so bad a life, especially compared to the sex slavery we see today, or the mind slavery in China, or the brutality of so many war slaves in Africa still.

151 Went to the "new" Kroger Marketplace mega supermarket. Nice wide aisles. Probably for all the fatties. And their ride along carts. Nice selection of processed foods.

The sushi counter however wasn't bad. And a nice selection of cheeses.

Not a "go to" place for us. Even my wife agreed.

Picked up a deli-made Italian sub for dinner and some pasta salad... which isn't too bad.

A bit of a red flag waving for sure, but a possibility is Vance doesn’t want an ongoing war, and I don’t think we do either. There certainly would be a vested interest by Israel to blow Iran off the map. I also could see where Israel is like, dude, we know these guys and they are not going to negotiate in any honest way. And Vance, still young and green, let’s be honest here, thinking he is going to be able to appeal to them against all odds, I mean his whole life has been against all odds.

And how about the right-of-way itself? it once was owned by one or more landholders who (hopefully) were compensated or voluntarily donated the land, releasing title to it so that roads could be constructed.

And what passes over those roads? Vehicles that are titled to individuals and companies.

I'm trying to identify what part of the road is socialized?
