The Morning Report — 7/ 14 /26

Good morning kids. And so Senator Lindsey Graham has passed at for our time what is the not very old age of 71, I say that with all sincerity as a 66-year-old. In any case whatever one thought of Graham from a political standpoint (and the fact that his sister has been tapped to replace him gets my blood simmering vis a vis our venal and corrupted system, even more infuriating in that we're only 10 days past the 250th anniversary of the American revolution that was intended to start a government that was diametrically opposed to just this kind of corruption.

But, be that as it may, the usual suspects are out in force reveling over Graham's demise and dancing on his grave with his body barely cold in the ground.

Cho shared a video where she said, “Bye, gurl” to the late senator, adding “good riddance.” She also mocked the notion that he might have been a closeted gay man in the process.
“From the closet to the coffin. Real seamless.”
The former is vile. The latter is precisely what one shouldn’t do to someone who wishes to keep his or her sexuality to themselves. Unless that person is a Republican, then all bets are off. Apparently.
Not to be outdone, CNN contributor Michael Ian Black did his own dancing on Graham’s grave.

Before the usual trolls and other drooling sub literate cretins point out our reactions when individuals like Jimmy Carter or Ted Kennedy died, while my reactions were for sure passionate and colorful, the meat of my look at their lives was strictly about their words and deeds and negative impact on our nation and society.

Back to Graham and reactions to his death, there's this:

One of those celebrations took place on “Iranian state television,” where “a presenter reported Graham’s death with a broad smile and a visibly satisfied expression. Another host said on air: ‘This news is so sweet that I’m reading it twice.’”

And the difference between the Mulllahs and Margaret Cho and Cenk Uygur is, what exactly?!

While we're on the subject of "Death to America" I give you this repulsive yet completely unsurprising story:

With a government by, for, and of the working class and with powerful labor unions and social movements organizing in every city and town, we hope to build a socialist society.” That means abolishing the existing United States constitution and replacing it with something else, also eliminating the Senate and establishing unenumerated “civil, political, and democratic rights for all” in unstated ways.

And so, how are we to preserve our nation, society and our lives in the face of this, short of resorting to the kind of tactics, that is violence, that they are oh so eager to visit upon us?!

Well, back in 1968 Bill Ayers didn't even flinch when he declared that 25 million of us who could not or refused to be "re-educated" would have to be liquidated once he and his ilk took power. Should America somehow return to sanity and the move to embrace Socialim/communism fade away and die Please God, perhaps we can avoid having to visit on the Left what they so eagerly seek to do to us. If not, look out.

I myself struggle mightily and not always successfully with my feelings when one of theirs passes from this mortal coil. I try to say, "May God have mercy on his soul." But they don't struggle because they don't doubt their own sense of righteousness.

26 I hate Daylight Saving Time. It simply means, in an already hot climate with more sunlight than we need, that we will get more afternoon sunlight falling on our homes . . . thus requiring our cooling systems to run longer in the evening relative to when we are awake and active.

It doesn't save energy, it requires more of it, and makes the long hot summer days seem even longer.

Arizona (except for the Big Rez) has the right idea.

Last issue I had with a microwave was the main fuse blew. Replaced that and it went another several years until the daughter and her cousin were home alone and microwaved some taquitos......for 15 minutes.

Couldn't get that smell out of the thing no matter how much vinegar I boiled.

I was able to change the O2 sensors in the used car I bought....$125 a piece. It got inspected yesterday (it passed after the initial failure due to not driving it long enough) and I was able to actually make an appointment with the tax office (wow did covid screw that place up), get the title changed, new places and the registration sticker all in about 15 minutes. $330 later, that is.......

But, pending insurance, the daughter will have a ride when she gets her license back in August.

Marine boot camp is 12 weeks. You can jump from one service academy to another, sure, but only the Marines transferring will not need to go through boot camp again. They've been through enough.

The Columbia River bar has some of the most treacherous waters in the world, and the CG trains its heavy surf rescue pilots down by Cape Disappointment, IIRC. I do! The plan was to insert Harris and have her run against Haley who the GOPe would have chosen as a "compromise" candidate. DeSantis had already mysteriously "suspended" his campaign (and it WAS mysterious, I was sure he had made some deal with Trump because going at the time he did made zero sense) leaving Haley in with far more delegates than himself.

Last time attended one around here was at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philly with theatrics by the Bearded Ladies Cabaret.

There were stilt walkers, a singing baguette, a mock guillotining of Marie Antoinette, and Tasty Cake Krimpets thrown from the prison roof.

The Lump was furious with me - not his thing at all & maybe more so because of mobs of bathless drunks that were bumping into us - but he got me a Krimpet in midair anyway & with minimum effort.

That program ended with C19, and even the Lump looks back & laughs at how crazy it was.

Still love to visit Eastern State Pen. for it's programs.

416 Of all things to get upset about, having Lindsey Graham's sister finish out his term for a few months is not one of them. First of all, Senators were originally picked by state legislatures so having the governor pick a fill in till the election seems pretty neutral. Plenty of times spouses are picked ti fill in, so having a sister (who he adopted when she was a minor) and who works with him and his staff seems appropriate. She is a fill in till the election takes place and can take the seat in January.

I was not a huge fan of Graham (sometimes he did good things). Let's focus on getting someone better to replace him in this run off election.
