20 why it's called google

Wikipedia

Page and Brin published their research, along with Rajeev Motwani and Terry Winograd, as the PageRank algorithm ..

Eventually, they changed the name to Google; the name of the search engine was a misspelling of the word googol, a very large number written 10100 (1 followed by 100 zeros), picked to signify that the search engine was intended to search a large number of websites.

Winograd was Page's thesis adviser at Stanford, and is best known for his pioneering work in AI back in 1970. His program SHRDLU maintained a world model, something most modern AIs can't do.

Maybe I'll stop at the big library in the suburbs Thursday after I have the Buick's rear brakes done and see if there is anything else I want to pick up. I'm down to two books on the TBR pile.

45 55% of Americans have stopped regular use of social media. (PC Magazine)

Because they're tired of dealing with communists.
Posted by: Pixy Misa at 04:30 AM

I never started. By the time social media came around, I had dealt with enough people in meatspace and on messageboards to know better. The last thing I wanted was to be *more* accessible to all the idiots, narcissists, parrots, dickheads, manipulators, deviants, schizos, shit spewers, and rageaholics of the world. Blog comment sections are pushing it.

But yes, even it was already a cesspool, communists can make anything worse.

50 Over at Epoch Times, there is an article about Helen Comperatore, the widow of Corey Comperatore and how she has been since her husband's murder in Butler. Two parts stood out:

The Secret Service met with her last year and most of her questions were answered with “We just don’t know.”

The files on the shooting are 75,000 pages. The FBI is only releasing about 300 per month.
