Joshua CarrIs this true? I don't know yet. I suspect it is. Carr does provide a notice of a copyright claim from "SuperBam," who would be acting on their client's behalf. He also says that there are "dozens" of reports from other people making the same complaint.
@Joshua_the_car Tucker Carlson hired a company this week to demonetize any political commentator talking about him. I've had 8 videos claimed so far this week. Every single one is protected under fair use. Make no mistake, Tucker won't win a single copyright dispute. He's doing this to discourage future commentators from talking about him. He's been independent for years and he's never done this before. Why now? Because he sees the power independent voices have, and that we are showing Americans the truth of who he is. YT has weird rules about who can challenge a video on the grounds of copyright. My friends who are YTers complain about this all the time.
They get clearly meritless challenges to their vids all the time. They win all the time, but — get this — normally the challenged vid is demonitized or even pulled during the challenge.
Since vids are like movies, in that they quickly ‘drop off’ in sales/clicks, having a vid demonetized for even a few days is a real hit.
This challenge procedure is a license for bitter and vindictive cocksuckers to harass YTers and hurt their wallets. I have no doubt Fucker Carlson is doing this.

Those that make their money from that are affected but there are ways around even that.
Occasionally you will have some YT comment provider complain about this or that organized campaign to demonetize, remove or even block content. Rick Beato is pretty open about it and names names when that happens.

It is simply a hook to reel you in to watch, read, or listen so that you are a target for advertising, selling you subscriptions, or persuasion.

The latest example of copyright abuse. I'm all for copyright protecting the original author from having his work stolen by some else, especially if that someone else profits from it (but not protecting the great-great-great....grandchildren of said original author).
But this is getting ridiculous. Someone puts some video of youtube claiming something is stupid (ie space is fake and the earth is flat), and then copyright striking someone who uses their video to show how stupid their arguments are.
There needs to be some system where the frivolous copyright claims are punished severely. Make a bad faith copyright claim, you get whacked big time.

How the actual copyright law has worked with anonymous content before (in the print era, before now where anyone can spew tons of content with little effort), I don't know.
But I think that's a good basic rule for the modern era.

That would shut down facebook overnight. From my limited experience there about 85% of the content they show me is posted by either anonymous people or bots.

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office posted a sobering and surprising video on social media calling out the "out of control" Somali gangs.
Then quit "calling them out". Get some warrants and burn them out.
Or ... you know ... quit living on the tax-payer dime and take a walk. Let things get worse so that they can get better. Maybe pull a few cars off the easy traffic stops to do a harder job. Like surveille these gangs.

I noticed that during Artemis, searching for some images. The amount of AI generated slop images that popped up was mind blowing. Pure fake nonsense claimed to be real photos. I had no idea what the profit would be from doing that. Then I learned how Facebook makes money....

This is crazy. An obviously very drunk 44 year old man decided to hit on a 71 year old woman sitting next to her 77 year old husband at a bar. The 44 year old, then tried to kiss her cheek. The woman and her husband got up. The husband grabbed at him. The 44 year old then started to fight with the 77 year old man. My ewetub algorithm was kind of hilarious. It got very busty for a bit. But the algorithm seems to drift. Now it is drifting to a lot of Warhammer and health videos even though I still click on a remarkable rack. I think eqetub tries to not suggest that kind of content as much unless it is the ONLY thing you look at.
