Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Noted Manly Men Will Wheaton and George Takei Attack Dwayne Johnson As a "Coward" For Not Endorsing Their Far-Left Imbecilic Identity PoliticsVariety Variety The NY Post with more: Wil Wheaton has blasted Dwayne Johnson over the actor's decision to stay out of politics. The "Stand By Me" star and President Trump critic branded Johnson a "coward" after the wrestler-turned-actor said he plans to keep his political views private. "So disappointing to find out he is such a coward," Wheaton wrote Monday on Threads, in response to a post from George Takei highlighting Johnson's recent comments to Esquire. Johnson, 53, explained in the interview that he no longer wants to publicly weigh in on politics because he doesn't want it to overshadow his work. "What I have learned through experience is that I need to keep -- need, not want -- the main thing the main thing," Johnson said. "The main thing for me, the thing that in the morning I swing my legs out of bed and I run towards, is creating. It's art. It's storytelling." "I've learned I'm going to keep my politics to myself," he continued. "There are moments when, hey, there's nothing we can't talk about. "If I'm wrong, I'll tell you I'm wrong. Or if I feel like I got a leg up and this is the right way to go, I'll share it with you." Johnson, who identifies as an Independent, also said he believes people with opposing political views should talk to one another instead of publicly attacking each other, adding, "I hate the slinging. I hate all the bulls-- that comes with it." Wheaton has long been outspoken about his political views and campaigned for Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election. ... Johnson condemned the July 2024 assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania, saying political violence has "no room" in America. "Whether you love Donald, don't love Donald, it doesn't matter. They tried to assassinate him. There's no room for that," Johnson said at The Value Conference in September 2024. "Despite it being who we were in that moment, I still believe in my core that is not who we are as a country. "So him standing up at that moment, we wanted to see that."That's considered an aggressive "right wing political" take by the pro-murder left.

No one is shouting about how great Talarico is in Texas. The DSA wins in dark blue districts is scaring the crap out of the democrat party faithful, and Hispanics will probably as an entire group will vote majority GOP. Black males will continue their move towards the GOP. And the GOP will be more MAGA after this election cycle than before.
If this trend continues - 2026 will not be a good midterm for the left, and with their government funneled money drying up, 2028 looks like a massive problem. Especially since all the energy means more democrats will lose to their DSA opponents, making whatever swing districts remain more red. Posted by: Black JEM at July 01, 2026 04:58 PM (GZYu7) 76

I don't care if a celebrity keeps their politics to themselves or comes out in support of someone. It's up to the public to decide if they are an asshole about it and whether it will affect how they spend their money. A celebrity ain't some special person that needs to keep their mouth shut or open. It's a personal decision and let the chips fall where they may just like any citizen.

The only thing I know about Wil Wheaton is that Stewie Griffin overpronounces his name as a running gag on Family Guy.
Other than that, who? Same with George Takei--he built a huge social media presence promoting his play about Japanese-American internees in CA, and he did it by being completely apolitical, to drive traffic for his show, and now that the show has come and gone, he uses his "platform" to be a complete asshole. He is well on the way, particularly at his age, to being another "who?" Posted by: barbarausa at July 01, 2026 05:02 PM (enw9G) 97

Meanwhile......
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani @NYCMayor · 1h New York: it's hot out there, and the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool. Set your AC to 78 degrees, turn off lights/electronics you're not using, and unplug what you can. Our City is doing its part too: maintaining the 78 degrees rule in our buildings, dimming/turning off our lights during peak electricity demand, asking private partners to do the same, and powering down non-essential equipment. A stable grid means the AC stays on, and lives are saved. Let's ease demand — and get through the heat — together. Posted by: beckster at July 01, 2026 05:20 PM (kX27y) 195

I'm assuming the China tourist birthers' children have dual citizenship (which itself is a bad idea). So not sure how that works, but it's probably different. Posted by: illiniwek ============= Another interesting thing is that those birthright kids, if male, are required to register for the draft by the time they're 25. Failure is a federal felony. Of course we never prosecute anyone for it because we're doormats for these people, and of course there's a 5-year statute of limitations so they're in the clear by age 30. Mrs. Speck is a big Trek fan. Read all the books; encyclopedic recall on episodes; even watches the new stuff, despite the woke taint. A couple years ago, she
urged" me to go to not one, but two separate screenings of Wrath of Khan that were then followed by William Shatner in one event and by Takei in another. Shatner was surprisingly thoughtful and self-deprecating. Takei, on the other hand, was a petulant, spiteful twerp, whose every anecdote reminded the audience of what a trend-setter and hero of gays in Hollywood he had been. Had little digs at Shatner sprinkled throughout. (When asked about his spat with Takei, Shatner was gracious and avoided being baited into saying anything negative.) Amazing how far little talent but a possessing a deep voice can get you in the entertainment industry. Posted by: red speck at July 01, 2026 05:37 PM (Ve/HL) 286

Even more ironic, Shatner is the only cast member I’d like to have a beer with if his slightly conservative public personality is remotely close to reality. but he will argue that a statute cannot overrule a constitutional provision and he'll be found to be right.
Posted by: ace at July 01, 2026 _________ Probably, but it's not a slam dunk. The Ky constitutional provision refers to the gov filling vacancies "in all offices for the State at large." Those offices are not defined in the constitution, but sections 69 - 96 are titled "Officers for the State at Large" and there is no mention of those elected to federal offices.
