“The Court today takes the extraordinary step of holding facially unconstitutional the President’s Order excluding from citizenship the children of foreign temporary visitors and illegal aliens,” Thomas writes:Of course, one does not have to be one of if not America's greatest jurists and legal minds ever to serve in any court to know how completely insane this decision was. All one has to do is know the most rudimentary facts about how and why the 14th Amendment was enacted as well as to be able, and willing, to read and understand plain English What happened yesterday was yet another jackboot to the head of America as founded, as it lays prostrate on the ground after decades of curb-stomping by the Democrats and those whose complicity and inaction allow them to get away with it. And the President nailed it with this observation: “I would like to congratulate President Xi, and the Great Country of China, on their massive Birthright Citizenship WIN!” Trump declared via his Truth Social platform. The court’s decision protects, for now, the practice of “birth tourism,” which is used by many wealthy Chinese nationals who travel to the United States to give birth to their children. And if I still want to engage in delusion, there are a few Pollyannas out there as well: Vice President JD Vance argued Tuesday that there is a “big silver lining” in the divided Supreme Court ruling striking down President Trump’s executive order outlawing birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants and tourists.Yeah, we have an opportunity to reverse this? I'm sure future POTUS Titty Caca Ocasio Cortez will get right on that by packing the court with 19 or more Maoists! 250 years was a good run, I guess. If we make it to 500 or even 1,000 we'll probably be where England is, the irony of course is that that is the nation we rebelled against in the first place. So, at what point do we take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them? Or do we doom ourselvelves forever to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune unto death? Have a good day,

But make no mistake: This is an issue Republicans can fix: Simple majority vote in the House and the Senate to limit citizenship to those legally born here; no judicial review. Aliens are most definitely not Immigrants. It is well to carefully think about the words used to describe.
When leftists are allowed to define the very terms or words used in debate they will tend to have an advantage in manipulating opinions or persuasion. That is rather the point, appeals to emotion. Euphemisms. “Undocumented Immigrants” makes it sound more benign, no? Like he just misplaced his wallet somewhere. There is a class of Legal Aliens, too. “Alien” is not a pejorative, it is a technical or legal term of art in the USC Title 18, all that stuff. I don't think Congress can right a law that goes against what this court has decided the 14th amendment means. It will be tied up in court for years and lose. You're essentially saying it's ok for Congress to decide the 14th is wrong. That would take a constitutional amendment and that ain't happening in any of our lifetimes.

YMMV == In going against the grain of my species (heresy!), I will say what I've believed for a long time. Women are simply not up to the task of using logic, not emotion, when it comes to political or constitutional matters. Yes, plenty of men are as guilty, but I do not trust women as a whole and do not vote for women because of it. The only exception I can think of at the moment is Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The rest? Totally unreliable. They think and act like women. And women fall short in my book when their feelz overtake common sense and logic. The exact opposite of what this country needs. I was always skeptical of ACB for that reason. And she's proven my theory too many times. Posted by: Lady in Black at July 01, 2026 08:13 AM (qBdHI) 85
To throw the citizens a bone SCOTUS granted cert in two rifle ban cases on their last day. They will consolidate Viramontes v. Cook County, a Seventh Circuit (Illinois) case and Grant v. Higgins from the Second Circuit (Connecticut) and review the case next term.
I believe given the 5-4 rulings on Election Day and Birthright citizenship, and the legal arguments made, anyone who treasures their Second Amendment rights should be concerned. I expect more constitutional subversion from ACB and Roberts. I also believe that any favorable ruling would come with enough caveats it will give the defendant states another avenue to undermine our Second Amendment rights. ACB’s legal reasoning in the Election Day case is perhaps just as bad as anything we have seen from KBJ. The birthright citizenship case doesn’t even try to make a constitutional argument, it’s a rehashing of the courts own precedents. Both are embarrassingly bereft of constitutional premise.

1. Trump made Vance the lead negotiator. He cannot go around publicly stating that the Iranians are faithless and everyone in the country should be annihilated in nuclear fire. 2. Vance's comments on the "silver lining" are almost exactly the same thing that Kurt Schlichter and other have said. Posted by: I used to have a different nic at July 01, 2026 08:03 AM (ExV1e) I enjoy Schlicter’s writing, his ideas usually echo my own, and the only fault I find is that he tends to be far too much of an apologist at times. For instance his piece yesterday, which you referenced, said (paraphrased) “this was great news! Look how close we came! All we need is a couple new justices and a better Congress, and I know this will be overturned in 20 or 30 years!” Kurt, we don’t have 20 or 30 years left to fix this. The American system is a complex web of graft and blackmail - so I have no doubt that SC justices are being bribed and threatened. Nearly everyone in the ruling class is, every day.
That's just how the machine runs. But Barrett and Roberts did this for the same reason everyone in the ruling class does what they do - class loyalty. This isn't a decision that required any cajoling. Anchor babies are a key feature of the ruling class war against the subject classes. It would be treason to undermine that. No top man in good standing will go against it. Same with vote fraud. That's why I never considered the possibility of Congress just shrugging their shoulders and saying "well, I guess the hated subjects win this critical battle. Let's just surrender. We're passing SAVE. We shall put down our tabulators and rig elections no more." That's not how any of this works. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at July 01, 2026 08:26 AM (BI5O2) 119

No excuse for Barrett. Her inadequacies were quite obvious to anybody who looked. Zero trial experience. No impressive teaching or writing work. Her few public interviews were weak tea. On the other hand, Raymond Kethledge, a finalist for the position twice, has sterling conservative credentials and a top-level intellect (author of a book on leadership). Also a finalist was Barbara Lagoa from Florida, with a far more impressive conservative record than Barrett.

Amy was never, ever going to vote for anything that would hurt (even slightly, emotionally) her children.
that's just baked in the cake. to some degree, the Roe decision led us to this. yesterday I was contemplating the large number of my peers (and young boomers) who chose foreign adoption. I was almost one of them, but I'm too stubborn to give up even after years of IF treatment. and many would have adopted domestically but it was basically impossible. of say 20 families I know, ONE adopted domestically and it took them years. they tried to adopt their daughter's sibling later, and it never went through partly this is due to the Roe decision. families with primary or secondary IF, or those who "didn't want to burden the planet with more normal babies" or something - they basically had to adopt internationally. China was maybe the best option, but very hard and very pricy. Anyway. ACB went with Haiti, likely via the Church. The Roberts' did a whole thing for Mrs Roberts to sneak some Irish children out via South American (shady) because she was Irish American. For those of us paying out the nose for IF treatments, and for those who payed out the nose for adoptions, tough. Posted by: Black Orchid (j+aD2) at July 01, 2026 08:41 AM (j+aD2) 156

I need an answer to a question. Does birth right citizenship entitle the person-when they are 18-to vote? I am really perplexed by this decision of the court.

It turned out some 40 year old female celeb had just had a healthy child and so they all argued that meant they could as well
yep that burned Gen X bad. we all got married too late. you can have kids at 40 or even 50 IF you've been having them all along! if you try for the first time then, it's a long shot. Posted by: Black Orchid (j+aD2) at July 01, 2026 08:46 AM (j+aD2) 173

Yes. They still have to register to vote, but blue states have made that so easy people that don't exist do it all the time... Posted by: 18-1 at July 01, 2026 08:46 AM (sKqQm) 176
Sessions decided to recuse himself because he once brushed sleeves with a Russian diplomat at a DC cocktail party. Pathetic preemptive surrender, but he sure proved his "ethical" standards!

Have to remember Tom Tillis wants to be a lobbyist and needs to be on good standing with Senate Conservatives to do that after he retires. He will not 86 a Trump Scotus pick

Ideally society would encourage people to find a spouse and start having kids shortly after HS but it does the opposite of this, pointing people to college and partying until at least 30 and career focus after that.

Posted by: Black Orchid (j+aD2) at July 01, 2026 08:46 AM (j+aD2) My then-wife had our first at 35. We were younger than a huge percentage of our peers who were having their firsts. On the upside, we were exponentially more financially stable. On the downside, having kids is for the young. We still FELT young then, of course... One could argue we don't have to go "back", it never left. Trump came along and showed Republicans how to win. And how to do it by simply assenting to and acting on what their own voters had been asking for, and what they'd been promising, for 50 years. They said "nah bro we good". But they still want you to donate. Posted by: ... at July 01, 2026 08:51 AM (J9Kpb) 185

Non doom scenario. Republicans pick up 5 in the House and two in the Senate . Legislation then has a different complexion.
