I'm convinced that Cartoons and 60's 70's sitcoms gave us normal Men an inflated view of what kind of chicks we could marry.

Betty and Wilma with those schlugs? Josie and the Pussycats? Mom Brady? Mrs. McMillan? Mrs. Ward (who looked good...)...

Fortunately, the dead service only goes to my backup phone, so I have a bit of breathing room to get my main number transferred.

This time, I'm making sure I have two different carriers, so if one goes belly up I'll have a backup on hand.

There's some time between now and November. I agree that Paxton can run this idjit's numbers down just by telling Tejanos that "Talarico" is not in fact his birth name, and that the Gospel of Thomas is not in fact in the New Testament.

No, none of us are ever going to fight for it.

Those farmers two and a half centuries fought for it.

All we do is talk and vote, and sit on juries to give the system a veneer of legitimacy. And pay taxes because we've decided that's somehow virtuous. And submit to the government's demands (see covid) because it doesn't occur to most of us not to mindlessly obey. We suppress men so that idiot women can pretend to be our equals, and celebrate sodomites.

We don't value independence. Most of "our" corporations and public servants will happily enforce European speech codes. And we're addicted to cheap Chinese shit. And for some reason even our side's leaders want greater entanglement with the Chicoms.

This generation simply isn't worthy of the name "American."

82 This is from the NYT/Siena poll taken today.
There's some time between now and November. I agree that Paxton can run this idjit's numbers down just by telling Tejanos that "Talarico" is not in fact his birth name, and that the Gospel of Thomas is not in fact in the New Testament.
Women are going to be a harder sell, but mothers of daughters might appreciate his stance on trannies.

115 Theses been no better example of how useless and worthless polling has become everywhere - and especially in Texas - than the runoff race between Cornyn and Paxton . EVERY poll published said it was “too close to call”, although by the last days , some admitted that Paxton had a slight lead.

In fact, Paxton won by a 2-1 margin, one of the biggest wipeouts seen in a supposedly close race.

And every pollster missed it. It’s not just that they didn’t want it to be true; the “science” of polling has been hopelessly broken by cell phones and caller ID, among other things, and pollsters mostly just make up numbers that the people paying them want to hear.

The way it's set up, if you drop an html into the watch folder, it will auto-generate a link/card on the cheatsheet page based on the naming and create search tags.

So if you drop the file:
React -- Guide -- Reference -- React-How-To.html

It creates a Card called React, two search tags: Guide and Reference and the name of the file: React-How-To

Basically I've been non-stop coding fro the last 8 months various and sundry projects.

129 Any attempt to include pregnancy screening in consular matters will almost certainly be blocked by (absurd, lawless) judicial action. By the time the executive is finished indulging this idiotic bad faith sabotage - and WINS! a decision - it may well be time for the roulette wheel to be spun again, with a 50/50 chance of a Dem prez, which obviously will mean instant and complete dismantling of every aspect of border security and immigration enforcement.

But hey, DOJ is talking real tough, Homan-tough, about prosecuting those "exploiting" the loophole (loophole? SCOTUS just, and not for the first time, just issued a baseless lawless Revolutionary Command Council* decree of immense destructive potential, the not only legislated, they repealed a constitutional amendment and replaced it with a retarded disastrous fake substitute).

Hilarious, in a dark way. Not to be outdone, some including Sen. Schmitt are talking about a constitutional amendment (!) as a "fix". Other Legal Cult types are musing about the "opening" Kavanaugh left, for legislative fixes. Such "fixes" have as much chance of happening as a repeal of O-care.

154 Oh, the Revolutionary Command Council was Saddam's pro forma "consultative" authority. Spoiler: there weren't many votes whose outcome was uncertain.

SCOTUS now issues decrees, not anything resembling a serious ruling (though, for the 1,000th time, the ridiculous conceit that courts should be anything more than glorified clerks should always be rejected - contemptuously) based on a straight reading of the law or constitution.

Not sure I can bear to read all of it, but seems they've reached new lows now. Wasn't Ginsberg the idiot who burbled about "learning" from other constitutions (like that of the model state of South Africa!). And now we have these 5 cretins citing concepts from extinct monarchies to invert the plain meaning (zero doubt about the actual purpose) of an amendment.

But if they appeal, Roberts will probably make them citizens too, with full voting rights.

160 There is a genuine Norseman Viking Raider throwback on the Norwegian footyball team.

Caught a bit of today's game while at Cardiac Rehab. The game was played in Dallas, TX. In the center of the Norwegian fan section was a guy dressed in full Elmer Fudd Viking regalia - including his magic helmet. A black guy, having the time of his life.

I expected to see cowboy hats with Viking horns.

167 All sports fights are idiotic. But they appeal to a large part of the bell curve. The part that weighs us down generally.

There's always boxing, and now all the new more barbaric fighting sports, for the Coliseum mob.

Sat with an NHL owner at a game in the late 80s, asked him about the ban-fighting situation. Amazingly, given his team's "legacy" and nickname, he was in favor, but he said only a handful of other owners had agreed. Gretzky and a few other players had pushed it, IIRC.

An AHL player I dined with after a game in which he was involved in a brief altercation said they were laughing. It was kind of a pro forma "fight" as one goalies had been accidentally bumped during a commercial break, so both sides felt "obligated" to do the kabuki.

Of course without fights hockey can't exist, well, except for the 95% of hockey in which fights are just as banned as in tennis or golf.

169 I was thinking today about how I first thought about this citizenship issue when I started looking at it, about 15 to 20 years ago. A very brief look led me to conclude “well the language in the 14th is clear, and SCOTUS says Wong Kim Ark is controlling, so you’re gonna have to do a constitutional amendment to change anything.”

But over time I came to realize that there were much better, more nuanced arguments, and lots of precedent for dealing with the issue in more manageable ways, and so my thoughts changed.

But now here comes Roberts, today, saying “well the language in the 14th is clear, and SCOTUS says Wong Kim Ark is controlling, so you’re gonna have to do a constitutional amendment to change anything.”

Congratulations on your 5 minute analysis, genius.

173 From last thread, from Tater:
>> and also delves into some of the aspects of orbital mechanics. I knew it was complicated, but I didn’t realize the twists involved with rendezvous.

There are literal twists involved. I recalled some of the complexity last night after Rodrigo posted that cool ISS docking simulator thing.

They originally misunderestimated just how complex and tricky this would be. That is, final proximity operations. Chasing a spacecraft already in orbit, that is launching another spacecraft and matching course and speed, they knew that was complex.

But once you got within a few hundred feet, they didn't think it would be that bad. And that was due to just naively applying the Equivalence Principle. The Erf's tidal field is very small, literally on the order of micro-g's. So they assumed it would be close to 3D inertial space for two close-by objects free-falling in orbit together.

The trouble is while that is true, it's the time scale involved. In LEO, you're whipping around around once per 90 minutes give or take, and that means that tidal field is also rotating. That makes all the difference.

179 Eh, the early 70s were the opening shots of serious national decline. The “oil shocks” coupled with dollar devaluation. Oil hovered around $2 a barrel for about 20 years. The Embargo. OPEC. It doesn’t sound much like now, but it quickly doubled, tripled, and settled at $8 a barrel.

This wiped out all sorts of things we took for granted. The Milkman and full service gasoline stations. My parents were by no means poor, but the single breadwinner went bye-bye. Generic brands. Powdered Milk instead of fresh. Dairy butter a distant memory. Beef and pork did a moonshot, etc. Workers wages have been stagnant since then. 1974. That’s insane.

By 1980 the US dollar was in trouble. The Fed chief Paul Volcker, raised interest rates overnight to almost 20%, including the overnight rate in fact. That’s the interest rates banks charge each other.

This is not possible today. Not even close. Monetary inflation steals your money. Even at the “targeted” 2 or 3 percent rate of inflation, your savings and investments are cut in half every 20 years. Complete bullshit.

187 Right, Pubs - if you’re in orbit with the pointy end going forward, at some … point, you’ll be pointing straight down, and eventually, going “backwards”, and around and around it goes.

A big part of the expense were the tracking stations and comms. They had all these factors to think about. We’re gonna launch from the Cape at a certain degree bearing, and we want to more or less fly over “friendly” countries in case of trouble.

Certain countries might be ideally located for a tracking station, but they are unstable regimes. John Llewellyn was a former combat Marine who was in Mission Control sent to some remote site that was “experiencing unrest” and roadblocks and twitchy guards with guns and that kind of crap. Gene Kranz got a cryptic teletype from him once that took a while to figure out what he meant.

“We’ve got them where we want them” meaning they were surrounded, but they weren’t leaving their post. LOL

In October 1973, the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries announced that it was implementing a total oil embargo against countries that had supported Israel at any point during the 1973 Yom Kippur War,

True, actual depression is chemical, not a case of the sads. It is treatable, usually, but not always, with medication. I know that medication is prescribed like candy, but for those who truly need it, it is a Godsend, as is the time away from stress that is required for recovery.

The fact that Muffy and Buffy claim they are depressed and take a bunch of SRIs doesn't negate that fact that some of us need that treatment to live.

263 Foreign nationals can serve in the US military (believe it's still one way to accelerated citizenship), but obviously can't be drafted.

And with this absurd "ruling" that completely inverts the uncontested intent, context, purpose, AND language of the 14th, remember anything/anyone born inside US territory is automatically a citizen. Don't believe such citizens can be denaturalized or deported (how would that be possible? deported to where?), as naturalized citizens can be. Unless there has been a massive change in our laws that I've missed.

This atrocity has 2 enormous practical consequences only one of which seems to be recognized. First it codifies and greatly increases the perverse incentive to enter the US illegally (or any way possible). Second it represents a new maximum in judicial lawlessness and usurpation. There was no ambiguity in the 14th, its language and history are simple and uncontestable. It was specifically a remedy for the unique situation of former slaves in the US. Period. That it was such was redundantly confirmed by decades later when equivalent legislation for Native Americans, also obviously people in a unique situation, was passed.

288 Illegal aliens were subject to the Draft and required to register prior to this latest fairy tale ruling.

In fact, all Aliens & Foreign nationals have been required to register since about 1940, with their updated address. The F.B.I. had a fairly large database of named individuals who would be rounded up and detained during a declared national emergency.

During the war foreign nationals or “enemy” aliens could not be in possession of cameras, binoculars or shortwave radios. Enrico Fermi was not allowed to fly on aircraft because - before he was naturalized - Italy was a belligerent. Later, the government didn’t want to let him fly simply because he was so important to the war effort.

The government can make things happen (or not happen) when it wants to do so. If your country is invaded by millions of illegal aliens, guess what. Someone wants it that way.
