The Morning Rant

punk-monkey.jpg

The 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution is a very interesting thing. Many people misinterpret it, in particular the so-called "Establishment Clause," which prevents the establishment of a state religion, rather than the more popular assumption that it prevents all government involvement.

The third clause, "Congress shall make no law [...] abridging the freedom of speech," is perhaps even more widely confused with a blanket prohibition against penalizing speech in any context by any person or organization. And that is simply wrong.

The government cannot control my speech. That is clear. But there are many circumstances that allow government interference with speech, including threats of violence, incitement to violence, slander and libel (tough to prove though), and others. And one of those circumstances is in the military, which has a broad prohibition against political speech when service members are in uniform. That is a very good thing, because the bright line between the military and politics is one of the bulwarks against tyranny that our republic has developed over the years. The military should be...must be...apolitical. It is axiomatic in a free society, and the many examples in world history of militaries being political tools for one party, or the ruling power, rarely ended well.

US Air Force Officer Calls for Trump Impeachment, Demands JD Vance's Removal Before Arrest

Air Force Maj. Jason Watson joined a protest organized by the Removal Coalition and was taken into custody by Capitol Police for demonstrating in a restricted area.

The arrest followed a press conference where Watson, in uniform, accused the administration of multiple constitutional violations.

“Our Constitution binds us all together as Americans,” Watson said. “Like countless veterans before me, military members serving now, I’ve devoted my life in service to our Democratic Republic.”

First of all, Major Watson is a dumbass, because we do not live in a "Democratic Republic." If he doesn't understand the structure of our government, then maybe he doesn't deserve his rank. Second, this turd must know exactly what he is doing...there is no plea of ignorance in this issue. He wore his uniform while being overtly political, in public, making very serious charges against his commander in chief. The repercussions should be swift and significant, and completely unsurprising.

Long-time commenter and contributor "Diogenes" had some thoughts...

Violation of the following:
Article 88: Contempt toward officials
Article 94: Mutiny or sedition
Article 133: Conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman
Article 134: General article.

94 may be a stretch, but in my opinion, not impossible. It is important because it carries the death penalty.

I wonder if any of his fellow officers knew he was going to do this, particularly his immediate commander?

A very good question, and one that I hope is answered during Major Watson's Court-Martial.

This is an example of the post-modern conceit that everyone's opinion is valuable, and should be widely disseminated without any responsibility. I am fully supportive of Major Watson's freedom to say anything he wants about our government, its conduct, and its officials, as long as he does it as a private citizen. If he were so exercised by the President, then perhaps he should have done the honorable thing and resigned his commission, and then spoken out about what he saw as unacceptable.

By acting in such a disrespectful manner, he dishonored his uniform, he dishonored the armed forces, and he dishonored the Constitution.

It is incumbent upon his superiors to take his actions seriously, both to maintain the rule of law within the armed forces, and even more important, to maintain the independence of the armed forces from political involvement!

21 Let's check in with Congressperson Al Green (D-TX) and get his thoughts on this enturbulation during the protest he sponsored:

“I just left the Capitol grounds, and I was there to witness a Major in the United States Military bend the arc of a memorial toward justice. He stood for impeachment of a president on the Capitol grounds, and thereafter, he walked up the steps, where he was arrested, and he was taken away.

This is the kind of courage necessary to inspire others who understand that liberty and justice for all that we pledge allegiance to is something that we can make real. It’s more than an ideal; it is something that can be real for every person in this country if we would only have the courage to take the stand that Major Watson took.”

His words and deeds are, theoretically, a guide for those of lower rank, officer and enlisted. If his position is that the military should not serve the duly elected commander in chief and that they should, in fact, agitate for their removal, that sounds a whole lot like sedition.

Unfortunately for him, he didn't have a bunch of DNC lawyers carefully crafting a statement meant to be seditious while being, technically, permissible. I hope he hangs.

Major Watson is a lot more calculating than most realize, as others have always pointed out. Clearly he's already decided to run for political office in some blue state, and this is his first campaign ad. And by making himself a lightning rod for Trump Haters, he is guaranteed to almost immediately start raking in millions of donations from Neville Singh and all the other wealthy agitators out there.

And it's a safe bet that while he will probably be given a dishonorable discharge, it won't be any worse than that for a speech violation only. He'll lose his pension, but compared to the millions he'll be raking in from his future political career funded by the oligarchs, that's chump change.

I don't think colleges and universities are going to have the number of administrators and grad programs in the future.

Humanities and social science are already staggering from loss of students and reputations, cutting off the endless migrant hordes is shrinking k12 enrollments along with the baby dearth so teachers are in oversupply, and if Scotus eventually gets rid of disparate impact, then the whole credential market collapses.

Higher education is in for a massive round of budget cutting and this time it will be the administrators and administrative staff--and that is because they make up well over 50 percent of personnel costs now at almost all universities.

The math don't math.

Blacks have been in a baby bust for years. Their most loyal voters are Boomers who are dying out, the younger generations voting at far less rates. And...we've seen that those loyal black voters largely don't support these radicals in primaries.

So, we're going to have dark skinned radicals railing against whitie (most Hispanics consider themselves white), screaming about Palestine all the time (important to the Dem base and no one else), while the dark skinned base isn't terribly excited about it and the white electorate continues to shift towards voting as a bloc against it.

I think they want to replicate the rise of the New Left, but this has a better chance of replicating the rise and fall of Anarchism in the late 19th century.

Elected Dems aren't mad because the messaging is out of control. They're mad because they're losing elections. There will be a counter action to this whole thing.

But, my larger point is that the appeal of the DSA's message is actually shockingly narrow. It's mostly college educated white progressives. The other cornerstones of the Democrat electorate (union members, blacks) are simply not supporting it. Yet. That could change. But that's going to fuel intraparty conflict.

There will be more such examples at the city, county, state legislature, and congressional district. The POC will take whitey liberal votes but they damn sure have no intention of standing behind them as candidates when one of their own is running.

143 140 Jew-hate is nothing new in black America, and if anything it is growing. It is a wonderful way for the Dems to keep blacks on the plantation.

Not so much in the South comparatively speaking.

=====

I actually think Black participation in federal elections has a chance of relatively nosediving in the near future.

They've been conditioned to vote for people who look "like them". There are exceptions (Cohen from Memphis), but the black electorate tends to vote for black candidates.

And with Callais and the start of states drawing out black districts, they'll have far fewer candidates who "look like them" to vote for. So...they'll vote less.

Not like a 90% drop, or anything, but 10-20% over the next few years.

147 So you're confident that the Uniparty will put the DSA down?

Posted by: Biff Pocoroba at July 02, 2026 11:49 AM (XvL8K)

If they want to, they will. Otherwise it will all somehow come together like magic. There will be no big split. It may look in the end like a takeover but what the D's want is a huge lurch to the Left and huge "young" energy to campaign on. The DSA op solves both of their problems while appearing organic.

148 This is their new young energetic message. The party is being remade before your eyes but it is heavily controlled. Watch.

I think it is being controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood types like Huma who is married to Alex Soros, there are ties to Qatar money, and you have others like Khanna who married a Muzzie auto parts magnate from Cleveland and has the funds to do a Beto somewhere.

The same dynamic is going on in Euroland--Muslim Brotherhood types are now shoving their weak assed whitey leftists out in order to put leaders of their own in power. The Red Green alliance like the Mensheviks/Bolsheviks is always going to follow who is more ruthless, who is more determined rather than who is the most correct ideologically. Muzzies are going to win that battle and their whitey allies will just have to shut up and take it.

152 Actually, retiring at O-4 is fairly normal. Majors are typically grandfathered until year 20 and retired. The usual reasons for this are there are X number of LTC slots and Y number of Majors vying for promotion. Also, in times of drawdowns, selection rates plummet to below 50%.

Posted by: Diogenes at July 02, 2026 11:48 AM (2WIwB)

Thanks for the info. All the Majors I interacted with when Pooky was in the USAF were not going to be in that grade long because they were almost guaranteed to become a Lt Col soon due to staffing issues.

(Obama had RIFed quite a bit but was demanding more of those still in. Sequestration was a nightmare that was supposed to be temporary. The rash of suicides in 2016 on Pooky's base and the general burnout [esp for the airborne linguists] was preventable, IMO.)

I don't think that's the uniparty. It's purely dems. If they do well in the midterms, then it's a DSA nominee in 28. If they don't, it's a safe moderate dem (in their eyes) like Biden.

Drugs are addling a fair percentage of those with low iqs, low time horizon expectations, and probably some existing mental illness issues already.

And these violent zombies are wandering around anywhere there are services and a supporting city government willing to tolerate them whether it is Asheville, San Francisco, NYC, Atlanta, or LA.

You get just as dead from a box cutter or shiv as being shot from a gun and anything can set off these violent nasty creatures with lengthy records of all kinds of violent assaults before finally being locked away when they kill someone. Sometimes, not even then like the Charlotte murderer.
