Texas's Talarico Scrubbed Website of Statements Supporting 'Trans Kids' and 'Bold, Progressive Ideas' Ahead of Senate Run

Talarico, who represents a deep-blue district in the State House, has excised the word 'progressive' from campaign site

Texas Democrat James Talarico's website once promoted his support for "trans kids" and "bold, progressive ideas." That was then. Around the time he launched his Senate campaign in a state that hasn't elected a Democrat to the upper chamber since 1988, that changed, a Washington Free Beacon review found. Today, as Talarico tries to break the Texas Democrats' dry spell, his campaign website makes no mention of his "progressive" values.
As a state lawmaker representing a deep-blue Austin district, Talarico was not shy about broadcasting his left-wing views. On his site's homepage, the 37-year-old said he was "not afraid to stand up to Republican extremism" and boasted about leading "the fight against their efforts to bully trans kids, ban books, whitewash our history curriculum, gut public education with a private school voucher scam, and force their Christian nationalist agenda onto the people of Texas." The site's "Accomplishments" section, meanwhile, presented Talarico as a champion of "Bold, Progressive Legislation."
"I'm committed to building momentum for bold, progressive ideas--no matter how long it takes," Talarico wrote, according to an archived version of the site from August 2025, less than a year ago. "I've introduced ambitious legislation to give every Texas teacher a $15,000 raise, legalize marijuana, combat climate change, and repeal anti-union laws that keep workers from organizing."
The site got a makeover in early September, when Talarico launched his Senate campaign, archives show. The homepage credits Talarico with fighting "billionaire mega-donors" rather than "Republican extremism." A "Meet James Talarico" section touts the Democrat's efforts to "expand job opportunities for young adults" rather than fight for "trans kids." And the site's "Why I'm Running" page says the "biggest divide in this country is not left vs. right" but "top vs. bottom." The word "progressive" has vanished.
The revisions reflect the challenges Talarico faces as he attempts to swap a State House seat in the liberal enclave of Austin for a U.S. Senate seat in a state that has not sent a Democrat to the upper chamber since 1988, when Lloyd Bentsen was elected to serve a fourth term. Kamala Harris won Talarico's Austin district by nearly 50 points in 2024, when President Donald Trump won Texas by nearly 14 points. In his earlier races, Talarico presented himself as a "Democrat," with endorsements from left-wing groups like "Liberal Austin Democrats," who's "fighting back against Republican extremism." Now, he says he's an "eighth-generation Texan, former middle school teacher, and Presbyterian seminarian" running to "take his fight against corruption to Washington."

Somehow Talarico can't convince Texans that he's actually a man.

Talarico's State House and U.S. Senate campaigns also share donors, most notably Talarico's mother, Tamara Talarico, with whom Talarico shares a checking account. She has contributed thousands of dollars to federal Democrats since 2023, including $650 to Talarico's Senate campaign, and contributed $5,000 to his campaign for state representative in 2021. That same year, she and Talarico's adoptive father, Mark Talarico, covered Talarico's "moving expenses" at a cost of $1,437.84, records show. Talarico was 32 years old.

The New York Post reports on something I'm pretty sure is no longer on Talarico's website: He's a self-declared "fanboy" of a a self-described "TransQueer Latinx" theologian.

Texas Democratic Senate hopeful James Talarico once lavished praise on a self-described "TransQueer, Latinx" activist theologian as a major source of inspiration for his left-wing philosophy.
"When you started following me on Twitter, I couldn't contain my inner fan boy, because I read your book last year and it continues to inspire me and y'all's work continues to inspire me," the state lawmaker told Roberto Henderson-Espinoza during a March 2021 podcast appearance.
"I told you I was a boring, straight, cis white man, and I added 'Presbyterian' to spice it up," Talarico added. "My imagination is also just limited by my own background and identity."
"My whiteness, my masculinity, all those things limit my imagination about what's possible," he went on. "And that's where ... your book helps me do that."
Henderson-Espinoza, a PhD scholar, uses He/They pronouns and self-describes as Mestizaje (mixed race), autistic, non-binary, transgender, and Latinx.

Autistic? No.

I know it's mean to link these mutants' pictures, but I do so because it makes it pretty clear that they are not engaging like traditional philosophers in an inquiry into the nature of reality, but are instead ugly, dumpy weirdo failures working backwards from their handicaps and physical flaws and confabulating a mock-religion that tells them they're really really pretty.

The book Talarico referred to was Henderson-Espinoza's "Activist Theology," published in 2019, which lays out a brand of progressive religious values aimed at fighting "interlocking supremacies."
The two began interacting in February 2021 after Talarico followed Henderson-Espinoza on X and described himself as "a BIG fan."
Since winning the Democratic nod for Senate, Talarico has faced a deluge of attacks from Republicans accusing him of being too woke for Texas.
GOP critics have pointed to Talarico's past remarks, including from 2021, when he explained that "In my faith, God is non-binary," argued that the Bible is fine with abortion, and suggested that there are six biological sexes.

Talarico's past affinity for Henderson-Espinoza seemingly provides some clues about where he was getting some of those ideas.
In 2018, Henderson-Espinoza penned a paper calling for "transing religion as one approach to methodologically dismantle the logic of the norm that grounds the reproduction of binarisms and theologies of complementarity."
He praised the Bible as "trans-positive," described transgender individuals as "Easter icons," and has given sermons while wearing "Black Lives Matter" paraphernalia.

If you're going to mangle reality and demand that a woman be referred to by male pronouns, yu're supposed to say "he/him," with "he" being the sub jective case singular, and "him being the obje3ctive case singular.

E.g. "He is standing over there. I will give a flower to him."

But no. Now these maniacs demand, defying all logic and grammar, they they use two differen subjective pronouns, one being for the bjective place in a sentence:

"He is standing over there. I will give a flower to they." ???

Insead, what they (pun inrended) are doing is using the prounun demand to delineate the range or span of crazy-person dream-world identities they occupy, as in "I'm someone in the range between 'he' and 'they'."
