More stuff the left hates

Yes, That’s An American Flag Made from 295 Corvettes

doof-corvette-flag.jpg

Over 250 Corvettes descended upon Detroit’s Belle Isle on Flag Day last Sunday to form a giant American flag and raise money for four veterans’ charities.

Obviously, there was a need for Corvettes in red, white, and blue, and those made up the majority of the flag, but some other colors formed the flag pole on which Old Glory flew. While as many as 450 Vettes were hoped for, a count of the flag showed 295, which is still impressive.

The event was known as—and T-shirts proclaimed it—“Corvettes on the Island.” It was organized by Larry and Verna Courtney of Michigan Corvette Events, a Michigan-based nonprofit that supports food pantries and veterans groups. The Courtneys are well known in Corvette circles for enthusiast-driven events including Corvettes on Woodward, Corvettes on the Island at Belle Isle, and leadership roles in the National Corvette Caravan.

“This homegrown Michigan effort is built by the Corvette community itself with owners expected from across the country for an ambitious Flag Day tribute celebrating America 250, and honoring veterans,” read a release on the event.

Very cool.

$13,000 Autonomous Robot Toilet Comes to the Side of Your Bed

For decades, maybe centuries, the phrase “going to the toilet” has been a part of our everyday lingo, regardless of language or culture, but, like many other things, AI may just make it obsolete. Because, with the help of advanced technology, the toilet can now come to you, wherever you are.

At this year’s Shanghai International Aged Care, Assistive Devices, and Rehabilitation Medical Expo, Chinese accessibility technology brand Yueban unveiled its revolutionary Xiaoban smart toilet, which can essentially be described as an AI-powered autonomous robot toilet designed primarily for individuals with disabilities, semi-disabilities, or mobility impairments.

Read the whole thing. It's kind of a cool idea.

20 Tom Hanks makes fun of old MSNBC:

A-list actor Tom Hanks took a surprise shot at MS NOW while attending the ceremonial opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago on Thursday.
Hanks, 69, found himself face to face with a reporter from the network shortly after arriving.
MS NOW Senior National and Political Correspondent Jacob Soboroff was streaming  live and approached Hanks.
‘Great to see you,’ Soboroff said, eagerly attempting to get Hanks’ attention.
The actor appeared busy, but eventually acknowledged Soboroff after some light pestering.
He broke the silence with a quip: ‘What can I do for the 800 people watching MS NOW?’ – a nod to the network’s waning viewership.
‘Oh, come on. We’re live on MS NOW,’  Soboroff said, putting his hand on Hanks’ shoulder before offering a smile.
‘All right – add a zero to it,’ Hanks said in a dead-pan tone.

I've been reading Agatha Christie's "Death on the Nile." 140 pages into it and no one is dead yet. She's spending her sweet time setting up all the possible murderers, each of whom has a motivation to kill the victim.

The victim is sort of clueless. Not someone who deserves to die, but rather self-absorbed and doesn't see how her behavior affects those around her.

Find a lightning rod salesman. They are around, I bought them from one. Get him to sell Barky on the crying need for lightning rods to protect his legacy monument. Install four of them, with beautiful big braided copper ground straps going to copper-clad steel ground stakes. Soon, the local hood rats steal as much of the copper as they can manage to drag down; leaving ungrounded lightning rods securely bolted to the roof. Buy popcorn.

133 I think we are all missing, in the discussion of the Obama Flakturm, the opportunity to use the term "Schwerbelastungskörper" instead. And I must insist that we not miss this unusual, and unexpected gift of the moment -- the Zeitgeschenk, if one may coin a phrase.

Schwerbelastungskörper. ""heavy load-exerting body." Let it trip over your tongue, and conjure up images of squat concrete construction, stories high, the very basis that Speer proposed to be the foundation of the remaking of Berlin as a truly international city.
Eighty years later, we see again this urge to reach to the skies via poorly dimensioned concrete blocks.

Schwerbelastungskörper. A poetry of concept encompassed by a single word, an Alexandrian verse in prestressed cement, a cyclopean exclamation point, a brutal modernist menhir erected and aimed at eternity.

Schwerbelastungskörper.

So, anyways . . .

173 Evening, folken,

Just finished watching a Bette Davis noir-type thriller from 1951, Another Man's Poison, in which she stars with her then-husband Gary Merrill. Nice twisty murder flick based on a stage play. Never a dull moment.

Tomorrow I'm taking vid tours of two more houses. One is a two-story place with hardwood floors, 3 BR/1.5 BA, a big living room and big dining room, basement, and garage, bedrooms upstairs. Unfortunately it's right up at the ceiling of my price range; I don't know if I can spring for it.

The other is a small 2 BR /1 BA with a rear patio and deck, all the floors done, a basement and a 2-car garage. Much better price than the other. But I hate the big glass patio door/window at the back, which will get sunlight a good part of the day in summer and leak heat in the winter. Every apartment or condo or house I've seen in the South has one, and I hate them.

184 Find a lightning rod salesman.

I thought Twain had a story where the lightning rod salesman convinced him to buy so many lightning rods that he first despaired, and then mounted them all over his roof. Then a thunderhead came by and took up the challenge and invited all its friends and they spent the afternoon taking shots at the house until dispirited and exhausted the had to move on, leaving the house, and its now twisted and blackened lightning rods in place, with the added benefit that there hadn't been a single rumble of thunder heard in the county for 20 years since.

Posted by: four seasons at June 18, 2026 10:50 PM (/QHx4)

The technical term is "tofu dregs." The Brave Search AI summary from this afternoon:

"The term is Tofu-dreg construction (or Tofu-dreg project), derived from the Chinese phrase dòufuzhā gōngchéng ( 豆腐渣工程 ), which translates to "tofu dregs project." This slang describes poorly constructed buildings that are prone to structural failure due to substandard materials, such as concrete mixed with insufficient cement or excessive water to cut costs.

"The term was coined by former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji in the late 1990s to criticize corruption and corner-cutting in China’s rapid infrastructure boom. While historically associated with a lack of regulation and bribery, recent standards (such as GB/T 51408-2021 for earthquake-prone areas) have significantly improved construction quality in response to public outcry and past collapses."

234 Lots of excitement here at Chez Webworks last night. I was already in bed when something very loud and nasty buzzed past me. It was a big fat horsefly, which ended up hanging around a bedside lamp. We closed the bedroom doors so it couldn't get away, took a swat at it and missed, it buzzed through the room and… went silent.

Searching around, moving things to try to flush it out didn't work. Reluctantly, we opened the doors, turned out the lights, and went to sleep, trusting our angels to protect us.

In the morning, I heard it buzzing behind the curtains at the window. MiladyJo, mighty hunter, gooshed it. (Her track record of successful kills has her invited on many a safari. Like that karate guy catching a fly with chopsticks.)

A stain on the curtain was a small price to pay for genetic management victory.

I hate horseflies. I'll always remember one buzzing me in the shallow end of the swimming pool, and I ducked under the water and swam all the way to the far end, popped my head out, and there it was, still buzzing me. Nasty things. Glad they don't seem to be as prominent hereabouts as they were in my yout'.

Gonna wander away now. Back later with more exciting tales.

Thinking about those Richard Pryor clips the other night, and him getting darker and more angry over time and how stuff takes its toll on a human and how external evil influences corrupt natural love and interaction. I remembered conversation about your squad that had a nic for you, it was cool, and you liked it but later on, in retrospect you didn't like it anymore.
That's what propagandists do. They take things that bring people together and tear it, distort it and use it as a wedge to corrupt relationships which rips on the fabric of society and bring joy to their dark hearts.
Dad worked with a fellow whose nic name was Bo. Dad, why do yall call him Bo. _ Because he's a Bohunk. He'd had that nic since he was 10 and wore it happy. But today they'd rip it up.

It's a sad thing what we've allowed them to do to us.

Federal contracts have the Miller Act which prohibits mechanics liens of federal property by contractors. It also requires the BC get a payment and performance bond. The subs who aren't paid have to duke it out with the bond company.
States usually have a "Mini" Miller Act.

Any private interest can require this too.
A MINIMAL contractor would advertise such as well.

The Obamalisk ? One would think they had enough sense to require a payment bond. A money pit that deep there are probably lot of disputes.

The very EPITOME of DEEP STATE double think on full display LUSTING for the day when SUSAN RICE (Benghazi was a youtube video) can lead the final purge upon the those who would think different -- Normal People.

She will be defeated as before because:

Are you thinking that King Kong assembled it from Legos, while yelling Leggo My Eggo?

359 345 It actually looks like the Meidum pyramid. Basically the core of a collapsed pyramid. Fitting.

If it's a nice day tomorrow, I will get on the riding mower, and do that part of the yard closest to the house and the outbuildings. It's grown enough since the last mow that it's looking shaggy again.
