*Some of those videos* are real. I remember a previous one in ice. Mythbusters managed to recreate it. The bullet has to hit hard ice at just the right angle.

Forward momentum can be stopped but the angular momentum remains. It depends on low friction due to the high impact pressure melting the ice, and then vaporizing giving it a nice little low friction bearing effect.

In your defense, mom usually used sweet relish. One, I am trying to lock down sugar. Two, I always found it cut the hangings too much (depending on the relish.) I figured i would try the dill relish, see how it turned out.

By itself, it probably makes the tuna too tangy, but on a sweetish/white bread? Just right.

I am also using this sweet Vidalia onion spread, so I did not want things to be too sweet.

I can't believe I actually need to explain this to another grownup, but for starters, crosses and bible verses are overt religious symbols while pride hats aren't.

Honestly, I think a lot of people fundamentally misunderstand the point of pride night: by wearing the hat, you're not abandoning your own religious convictions and you're not trying to convert anyone to a particular lifestyle or belief system; you're simply showing support for a historically marginalized group of folks by saying that it's okay to be yourself and that a person isn't inherently worthless just because of who they are. It's really not asking a lot, is it?

And if you aren't lucky enough to have gay friends in your life, you should get some because (a) you'll have more visibility into the shit they deal with on the regular and (b) their weddings are always 10x more fun.

Whenever I see a fire at one of those "alternative energy" facilities (like this one, or GM's EV plant) the first thing into my head is, I hope the fire marshal looks closely for accellerants. The markets for AE are tanking, and the insurance payoff is the usual way to cut costs. If you can take down the assembly plant (like GM) at the same time, all the better. It kicks in the downtime payouts to cover salaries.

They were on top of a cold storage facility (refrigeration units) not in them. Solar arrays are prone to fires coming from either overheating/shorting inverters or in some cases, the panels themselves shorting out.

Not ideal to put on your roof for those reasons.

Lithium ion tech right now provides enough electrical fires from malfunctioning cells to account for it. Lithium battery fires are generally just left to burn themselves out if big enough and some really toxic shit comes off from such fires.

293 Welp, I finally got to drive Elinor home today. She is a 1961 Ford Falcon, 2-door sedan, lovely teal with extra chrome trim, bench seats big enough to make babies in, and just about the most stylish vehicle you could imagine.

She's kinda a hot mess, but at least now she runs well enough to drive home on the highway.

Needs work on the steering column, the brakes, exhaust system is kinda loud, she needs interior door panels and armrests, and she currently has no way to work the windshield wipers. I think she has reduced compression somewhere but we haven't found it yet.

I would say she's aged about as well as I have.

But damn, she's a beauty. Turns heads. And all that chrome makes me look good.

My thought is that there are probably more extant Falcons in the south than the north. Things do tend to return to nature up here a little faster. I did find one here, it is a station wagon, and it's missing the engine, but some parts were worth scavenging. I may have to just upgrade some systems, like instead of the vacuum driven wipers, put in electric driven ones. That wouldn't break my heart.

And I suspect that the drum brakes may be irreplaceable at this point. I guess I would prefer to use rotors, since the parts are more readily available.

For now, I'm putting about 10 coats of wax on her and saying loving things in her ear.

Before I took Elon's buyout from federal service, he required all employees to list 5 things they accomplished every week. This was a no brainer for most of us, since at USACE, we work for a living, but I suspect it may have been difficult for some other federal employees.

And very important, vintage and new reprint Ford service manuals for the Falcon.

356 I may have to just upgrade some systems, like instead of the vacuum driven wipers, put in electric driven ones. That wouldn't break my heart.

And I suspect that the drum brakes may be irreplaceable at this point. I guess I would prefer to use rotors, since the parts are more readily available.

For now, I'm putting about 10 coats of wax on her and saying loving things in her ear.

Unless your a purist and it's not too expensive go for the up grades. I remember Falcon windshield wipers, washer squirters were extra. Buddy bought a foot pump from JC Whitney to wash his windshield.

Does your Falcon have 4-lug or 5-lug wheels? Many of the early ones were 4-lugs, as were a few 6 cylinder Mustangs. I am spitballing here, but I think 5-lug wheels and better drum brakes from an early 5-lug Mustang should be a bolt-in swap. Change out the entire rear axle for the one out of the Mustang, too.
