>> There is something off about that bullet video. Fired into a hard surface and no deformation?
*Some of those videos* are real. I remember a previous one in ice. Mythbusters managed to recreate it. The bullet has to hit hard ice at just the right angle. Forward momentum can be stopped but the angular momentum remains. It depends on low friction due to the high impact pressure melting the ice, and then vaporizing giving it a nice little low friction bearing effect. Wow, another story of Pricks and MiniDick's private Statsi, the American Fork PD, has hit wider media - they just had to settle a lawsuit stemming from an incident when their 'finest' rolled into the Target parking lot looking for a crook. So they immediately order a white guy with a soda and shopping bag to stop. Told him to get on his knees, he complies and raises his hands. Then one of the thugs in blue does a running tackle from behind, driving the guy's face into the parking lot. Then the thugs Tase the guy and claim he was resisting arrest.

Had a cat when we lived in an apartment as an early couple. Outside was some sort of berrying bush and the birds would swarm it right outside a large picture window. Our cat went nuts chattering and demonstrating all predatory behaviors of a cat when the birdies swarmed the bush. She would thwack at them fruitlessly against the window for their impertinence.

Posted by: polynikes at June 18, 2026 08:16 PM (GseMx) In your defense, mom usually used sweet relish. One, I am trying to lock down sugar. Two, I always found it cut the hangings too much (depending on the relish.) I figured i would try the dill relish, see how it turned out. By itself, it probably makes the tuna too tangy, but on a sweetish/white bread? Just right. I am also using this sweet Vidalia onion spread, so I did not want things to be too sweet. Well, this is bullshit.
Not Gaetti @notgaetti I can't believe I actually need to explain this to another grownup, but for starters, crosses and bible verses are overt religious symbols while pride hats aren't. Honestly, I think a lot of people fundamentally misunderstand the point of pride night: by wearing the hat, you're not abandoning your own religious convictions and you're not trying to convert anyone to a particular lifestyle or belief system; you're simply showing support for a historically marginalized group of folks by saying that it's okay to be yourself and that a person isn't inherently worthless just because of who they are. It's really not asking a lot, is it? And if you aren't lucky enough to have gay friends in your life, you should get some because (a) you'll have more visibility into the shit they deal with on the regular and (b) their weddings are always 10x more fun. The beauty of this site is that it is open, and people constantly, for as long as I've been here (a very long time) veer off to whatever topic in the comments, from serious to silly, to rambunctious, to downright xrated, without an old hag, in the visage of a moderator standing over them dictating the rules on what to opine. General rules are kinda simple, as I understand them, don't be an asshoe to others, as much as you can. Some silly fisticuffs are ok, but stay within the lines. Lately, either because they are new, drunk, bored, high, ill manner, or stupid, some commenters got into a nasty habit of humping my leg, or other peoples' leg, in the form of a complaint about a topic one choses to drop. They don't fucking own the threads, and if you don't like the topic or commentary, skip the fucking post. As I do. Easy peasy. But no, they just have to harp, and harp and harp. What can I say, their parents did not teach them how to behave in public. Posted by: runner at June 18, 2026 08:46 PM (GD0B3) 192

Brave AI summary
Solar cell array fires are extremely rare, with studies indicating an incidence rate of less than 1 in 10,000 installations (or 0.01%). The solar panels themselves are rarely the source of ignition, as their primary materials (glass, aluminum, silicon) are non-flammable; instead, fires are typically caused by electrical faults in the system's balance of components. Primary Causes Improper Installation: This is the leading cause, often involving loose connections, poorly crimped connectors, or damaged wire insulation that creates high-resistance "hot joints" or electrical arcs. DC Arc Faults: Electrical arcing in high-voltage direct current (DC) lines can generate intense heat sufficient to ignite nearby combustible materials, such as roof insulation or accumulated debris. Equipment Failure: Faults frequently originate in DC isolators (especially older rooftop units prone to water ingress and corrosion), inverters, or junction boxes rather than the modules themselves. External Factors: In commercial settings, fires may be fueled by other hazards, such as leaking ammonia in cold storage facilities, which can ignite upon contact with electrical faults. Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at June 18, 2026 09:48 PM (51ygH) My thought is that there are probably more extant Falcons in the south than the north. Things do tend to return to nature up here a little faster. I did find one here, it is a station wagon, and it's missing the engine, but some parts were worth scavenging. I may have to just upgrade some systems, like instead of the vacuum driven wipers, put in electric driven ones. That wouldn't break my heart. And I suspect that the drum brakes may be irreplaceable at this point. I guess I would prefer to use rotors, since the parts are more readily available.
