Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Obama Officially Opens the Ozymandias Presidential Center As Subcontractors Complain That He Didn't Pay Them and Left Them With Millions in Worthless IOUsFox NewsMore: Subcontractors say they're owed millions, face financial ruin, after helping build Obama Presidential CenterA project overseen by communist Theater Kids was chaotic and subject to constantly-shifting plans? I don't believe it. BTW, totally unrelated: LucasFilm fired more directors than actually oversaw completed projects and "announced" more than a dozen movies that never filmed. Several also described what they viewed as a wall of silence surrounding the project, with some declining to speak publicly or requesting anonymity because of confidentiality agreements or fears of professional retaliation. Are you telling me that communists overpromise and underdeliver, are shit with accounting, and promise "the workers" that they'll be millionaires in the New Soviet Era but then confiscate the workers' wealth to build themselves villas and monuments that would make Cresus blush? I shan't believe it. I simply shannot. Speaking of communist lies: One of Ozymandias's floozies announced that his presidential center was built on stolen land but, get this, did not go on to say they were returning it.
And then Mamala or whatever she's calling herself "danced" in the typical white woke woman way.

To be fair, and not to defend Obama but... Trump kind of has a reputation for doing this. He'll just not pay contractors when he didn't care for the work he got from them.
In Obama's case, its not so much disagreement over work (although I'd be pretty unhappy with how it turned out) but rather they blew the money on other things and have to do more fund raisers to replace it. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at June 18, 2026 04:03 PM (UZCuZ) 11

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Vice President JD Vance have all embraced the diet, drawn by the promise of slimmer waistlines and glowing skin. They all apparently have determined the health benefits outweigh the slightly sulfurous odors that have been the cause of some domestic friction. “Within 30 days I lost 20 pounds,” Kennedy said at an event in Michigan this week. “JD Vance is also on the diet and you can see how different he looks.” Posted by: SMOD at June 18, 2026 04:17 PM (RHGPo) 108

Posted by: beckster at June 18, 2026 04:11 PM (kX27y) _____ The internet seems to think that 100 change orders for a project of that size is a lot. Not in my experience. You could have 100 change orders even in much smaller developments. I would have thought that this Gay Lightbringer Monstrosity would have had 100s of CO. But ... it all depends on what you consider a "change order." Any tiny change to anything is technically a CO. A massive construction project could have 100s if not 1000s of changes to minor bullshit like what color the toilet paper rollers should be. There is some prior evidence (such as surface concrete visibly cracking and shedding) that the Obama Center is a "Tofu Dregs Project." An explanation of the highly technical term, from Brave Search AI summary:
"The term is Tofu-dreg construction (or Tofu-dreg project), derived from the Chinese phrase dòufuzhā gōngchéng (豆腐渣工程 "The term was coined by former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji in the late 1990s to criticize corruption and corner-cutting in China’s rapid infrastructure boom. While historically associated with a lack of regulation and bribery, recent standards (such as GB/T 51408-2021 for earthquake-prone areas) have significantly improved construction quality in response to public outcry and past collapses." This may shock you, but I have my doubts that a new official standard will change the functional, material practices of the Chinese construction industry. But since I’d say Bush Sr. or Clinton every single piece of info about the president is k own. Since this is now a movie thread...
We saw "They Will Kill You" streaming on HBOMax. It's more less less a total "Ready or Not" The funny thing is that I kinda enjoyed this movie. It's not great, but they have some interesting twists and wacky deaths that keep things entertaining, though you'll be at least two scenes ahead of the movie plot-wise because where else can it go. Anyway, it worth seeing for "free" on streaming. The writer? director? just wasn't good or clever enough to make this the comedy he wanted. He wants to make a sort of Lynchian/Tarantino mash-up but is lacking the skill. Or, he could've leaned more heavily into horror eco in the third act and that might've worked. As it stands, "TWKY" is just okay, but watchable. Posted by: naturalfake at June 18, 2026 04:40 PM (iJfKG) 246

Things occasionally get a little one-sided here, so here some balance from DU:
"Donald Trump humiliated as Barack Obama surges far ahead in new approval ratings race Former President Barack Obama has higher favorability polling numbers than the sitting president, according to a new survey released on the day he’s set to open his presidential library. snip Obama sits at a 57% favorability rating, while Trump is viewed positively at 34% and Biden at 30%. It came as Trump was branded "creepy" for a "totally inappropriate" move on French president Emmanuel Macron's wife. snip Besides Obama leading in favorability in a rating nearly double that of Trump and Biden combined, he also polls more positively by independents. Among independents, Obama has a 56% favorability rating, compared to 25% for Trump and 20% for Biden. Democrats gave Obama a near-100 % positivity rating, with the former president at 96% within his party, compared to Biden’s 71% approval rating." (Data is from some MSN article.) "Hey guys, I'm known all around town as a crook. Anyone want to do some business with me on credit?" It's a wonder any politician get anything without prepaying. If I recognize you as having been elected to something, you're not even paying at the pump. Come inside and show me the money. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at June 18, 2026 05:01 PM (BI5O2) 339

You know that scene in 300 when Leonidas kicks the Persian into the well? Has that ever happened at a Library opening? Asking for a friend.

These are just lies, but like so many lies most of the public will believe them.
Posted by: bob There really isn't a 'public' anymore but clusters of individuals grouping around whatever news sources they use. And public polling indicates that. There is little in Western culture anymore that unifies so it makes it a lot harder to actually manipulate like the media used to. And it pisses them off to the extent that they are embracing censorship (which is always counter productive in the long run) because their news monopoly is broken. The only people still listening or reading most of the legacy media are old folks who are pretty much set in opinions. And the rest are either uniformed totally or clustered in their groups closest to impervious to info outside of them. That is the result of divide and conquer tactics--eventually you run out of divisions, make up new ones, and each time you do that you make it harder and harder to unify when you have power. I'm looking forward to a Trump Presidential Library. It's gonna be funny AF, whatever it is. Some kind of gilded, neo-Baroque monstrosity, no doubt.
