6 Wikipedia

The film's theme song, "East Bound and Down", was written virtually overnight by [Jerry] Reed. He gave [Hal] Needham a preview of the song and, getting no reaction, offered to rewrite it. In response, Needham told Reed that he liked the song so much that if Reed changed even a word or a note, Needham would "choke him." It became one of Reed's biggest hits and his signature song.

11 The biggest opportunity is to leverage the knowledge and experience I have gathered in 40 years of a career. The repetitive stuff I’ve gotten so tired of doing can be automated. Frees me to think about the validity of assumptions and run a wider spectrum of possible outcomes. For an old lazy dude it’ll help keep me sharp.

15 Nurse R. wrote on the ONT:

"Why not just pick up and move to a city you’re interested in, rent a place for six months, live there explore the neighborhoods, experience a couple seasons and check it out. Then buy."

I looked into that. The cost to rent an apartment now, with deposits, pet deposits, rent, "pet rent" (what a scam!), and to move my furniture or store it, is horrifying, and would be better put into a house. I'm not sure any decent apartments will do six-month leases now; and breaking one early could cost as much as the rest of the lease.

And . . . I don't feel I have the *time.* It's taking me longer than I expected to *find* the right house. If I spent six months or a year spending 2x or more on rent what I put out now, and then find I *don't* like the place I'm scouting, then I'd need to start all over.

If I were in my fifties, and/or were not doing this alone, maybe. I don't think that would work. But I thank you for the advice!

17 Anyway! Coffee on the side table, I'm watching the local Fox outlet's weather. There'll be rain tonight; this storm may track north of where I am, but we'll still get lots of wet stuff through Friday. Now, it's hot and humid, of course, but with no rain in the area, so I'll need to go work out in a bit.

Howzabout you?

Have for years -- stuck here for work, now stuck here because I haven't found a house I like yet. Well, I did find one I thought I'd love. But $30K of reconstructive surgery, so to speak, before we could get "married" was kind of a wet blanket.

I hope so, Pete. One place looks perfect, but has no garage; another has a garage, but no basement (though I might end up accepting that); another is listed as "needs a little TLC" or "as is" (no, thanks). I don't want to buy a roof or a central A/C unit right away. Interior paint or flooring, sure, but not such big stuff at the outset.

26 If you’ve been in an apartment for 20 years you’ve probably gotten used to life without a basement. For me as I mature into my late 20’s in a spot that definitely has winter the garage is a necessity. Stairs I can do without.

I've never had a basement in any of my apartments. I need the storage space, and if I'm moving to a tornado area I'll need a hidey-hole during alerts for me and the cats.

As for the garage, I want to protect the car not only from snow, but also from hail and hot sun. A place to wash the car and change my own oil would be great -- and to have more storage if possible.

43 FenSpouse and went to see "Sheep Detectives". Hugh Jackman did. a great job, the interaction between he and the sheep and between the sheep themselves was touching and funny. My only complaints were minor- various knocks against religion., and I find it strange that in an "traditional" English village, the shopkeeper is Asian, and the other rancher and the Anglican priest are black. I realize that in order to be considered for awards you have to have a diverse cast. It just seemed odd.
