Election Official Stops Democrat Dirty Trick: Democrats Tried to Split the Republican Vote for Dan Sullivan in Alaska By Running Another Man Named Dan Sullivan
Democrats should really consider what happens when we take a similar "by any means necessary" posture. Because it's coming.
There is an interesting controversy in Alaska where an election official just disqualified a candidate over his name. Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) is in what is considered a close race with Democratic former Rep. Mary Peltola. The seat is viewed as critical to the Democrats' retaking power. The race was thrown into disarray when a retired teacher named Dan Sullivan, who had no connection to the GOP but did have connections to Democratic operatives, got on the ballot. The alleged dirty trick by Democratic and Peltola supporters would have split Sullivan's vote through sheer confusion. Division of Elections Director Carol Beecher disqualified Dan J. Sullivan, putting an end to it this week. The suspected dirty trick comes at a time when Democratic candidates and pundits are calling for winning back power "by any means necessary."
It could create an interesting appeal if teacher Sullivan claims that this is just a colossal coincidence or that he has a right to be a vehicle for electoral confusion. ... Beecher noted several indicators that teacher Sullivan and the Democrats were engaged in a dishonest campaign of confusion. She noted that he voted under the name Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr., but requested to appear on the ballot as Dan Sullivan--making him identical to the incumbent. He even tried to register using the initial "S" once, which would have matched the senator. She also noted that Dan J. Sullivan had not registered as a Republican before launching his Senate campaign and that he created a new website that used a "color scheme and overall theme" similar to the incumbent's campaign materials. She also noted his connection to Amber Lee, an Alaska Democratic consultant and past supporter of Peltola.Of course it's a teacher. When we go low, they go high. Always remember that. We are working on it. The situation here is that the Lower 48 leftists think it is easier to knock off our Senators since the vote totals are low, so they send all kinds of dark money and fund a lot of PACs that are sketchy at best but sound local. Petersburg Dan is just one of several lousy schemes they employ. We have had so many ads stating how awful the real Senator is, and that started a year ago. They are lies, but I don't think anyone can stop them.
Now we have this idiot Mary Peltola running the same ads, with the same lies, all while she claims she was the most wonderful Congresscritter during her time in DC.... She never advanced a single bill, or even cosponsored one, but she claims she brought home the bacon for AK. Lots and lots of dark money funding her bullshit.
I think she is just running for the grift. She hasn't a chance to win.

Florida State Senate race in 2020, an independent candidate with the same last name as the incumbent Democrat appeared on the ballot. Reports indicated this candidate did not campaign and was later found to have been compensated to be on the ballot.

It was proved that he did not.
Trying to file with a middle initial that does not match the one on his driver's license was the first tip off. Registering as a Republican two days before he filed was another. Then there were his ads and media presence, which was designed to look precisely the same as the real Senator's, and his history of donating to lefties, etc.
Pretty clear what the wonky asshoe was up to.

We haven't even covered the narrow defeat of the Senate War Powers vote (the House passed one last week) that would have restricted DJT's conduct of the war. Murky, Kennedy, Paul, and Collins voted with the Dems. Only Senator Fetterman's vote against the measure prevented it from passing.

But I would put a better spin on it, and obviate any court opinion against my campaign.
I'd run ads bothering everybody, with the most similar two photos of me and my opponent I could dig up, playing up the "Sullivan vs. Sullivan" angle. Maybe with some UFC or football imagery and styling.
I would not point out any time which guy I was.
The voice over would be something like:
"Everyone says the Parties are exactly the same. Finally, one candidate is so different that nobody can tell him what to do. But you won't know which one, until you vote for Dan Sullivan.
You can buy a House seat for either Dan Sullivan this November, but with one of them - all you'll need is the edge!"

I think the simple fact of the matter is that majority leader in the Senate has FAR fewer tools to use against recalcitrant senators than House leadership does against House members.
If you have 4 senators in a 53 seat caucus who will not vote for what the president of the same party wants, well, if they're not worried about their next election, then there's nothing leadership can do.
Lead a primary challenge? That's a quick way to lose any leadership role.
Essentially, the Senate seems like a black box from the outside. People assume Thune doesn't want it passed because he won't. That may be true, but it may also be that he simply can't get the votes because of the actual senators he's leading.

Also of note, just a little over 14pct of registered LA voters voted in the selection.
And they have either stopped posting tabulations or they are holding out for a massive dump sometime later this month or early July.
Bass has 292k votes tabulated out of a registered voter base of nearly 6m people.

Good on you. Just make sure to take the pain pills as prescribed so you get maximum use out of pt. and be able to sleep at night. It hurts a lot when you start and pain pills buffer that. Usually when the prescription is done, then you can transition to the NSAIDS.
