Darkness begone. Sickness begone!

Begone from me, you Soyboy Beta Cuck! BEGONE!

Begone Vile Man, Begone from me!

I'm taking a bold statement on things that must begone.

Mother horse and her twins.

Firework show at the Sagrada Familia Cathedral.

Sweet 70s-era high end audio system.

Dude trained his corgi to "hunt birds," if you know what I'm saying. That little corgi earned himself some Gainsburger tonight.

Compilation of Happy Dogs.

This border collie says "What's a greyhound?"

You don't understand -- no matter the time, no matter the place, cats are the stars of this production.

Disney nonsense.

The dog wants more affection, the cat's already bored.

Rescue dog goes from being scared and cringing to happy and proud.

I get to see crows stacking things to carry them to the roost every few days, but this crow is a next-level stacker.

Years ago, I posted about Boji the Subway dog, who lived most of his life in the Istanbul (I think) public transport system. He just rode the subways and ferrys and trains all day. And he was very polite and well-behaved in the system.

Wikipedia says that that part about being adopted by a rich man is true. He was adopted after someone tried to frame Boji for pooping on the subway, which he never did. Boji is a Good Boy.

Boji was adopted by Ömer Koç in 2022[8] after an image with feces on a tram seat was shared on social media with the title "IBB's permanent dog BOJI defecated on the tram". IBB Spokesperson Murat Ongun shared a video on the same social media channel, taken by tram security cameras, showing a person putting feces he had brought with him on the seat.[9][10] It was revealed that Boji was in the shelter during the day of the incident.[11]

In March 2024, Boji was spotted out in public again, this time in London with Koç on a London bus.

Anything for clicks, huh?

Oh well. I'm glad everyone #BelievedBoji.

14 We went to an elephant preserve in Thailand.

We were able to feed them (washing and riding was not allowed, considered inhumane). We made up some rice-feed balls, but first they got an assortment of fruits.

We were told to hide the watermelon and feed them the pineapple and bananas first, because if they saw the watermelon they'd turn up their trunks to anything else. They loooooved watermelon.

It was a fantastic experience. Beautiful animals.

Ajax did that once. We were out walking on a bad August day. Blazing hot and humid. The dog had a coat like a mink. He kept the pace which is why I didnt notice he was having problems. Then he just collapsed in the grass. I picked him up and carried him to shade, gave him some water and we just sat there for 15 or 20 mins. He got up then, raring to go. Although I do not care for Frank Zappa's music or personality, I accidentally learned some in putting together the occasional comments on musician's birthdays beneath the ONT. (Sometimes the OP includes some, but my taste is different anyway.)

So, I learned that FZ has this album (live or presented as such) that's basically outtakes from the soundtrack for a mockumentary about life on the road, 99 Motels (IIRC). And a prominent part in the middle is the band attempting to impress some would-be groupies with both their fame and the size of their dicks. So they pretend to be The Turtles and sing "Happy Together," where a meta joke is that three of them are actually from The Turtles -- while in the song's conceit, they're non-Turtles pretending to be Turtles. (The bassist was from after that song's release, but two were the frontmen for it.)

So many layers of meta. I think I was just trying to find a recording of that bassist (whose birthday it was) playing the band's big hit, and it snowballed out of control.

84 49. I was wondering if one foal was an orphan and the mare was nursing both. Horses can have twins, but I think it is very rare. But it wouldnt be siblings, gestation is about 11 months, and a yearling horse is way more grown than the larger foal. I suppose one twin could just be a runt if it is actual twins.

A pretty eerie Dylan live version of Tangled Up in Blue on YT is floating around. The concert lighting and Dylan's apparent stage makeup made him look a little demonic singing it.

As far as soul, I prefer Atlantic (especially music on Stax) to Mo-Town style. Bit more grit.

I can see that. Back in the early seventies, saw a bill with the Dead coupled with the Who at the Fillmore West I think. Ultimate uppers and downers in the same concert room.

Bands from the 60's and early 70's all seemed to run across each other. And the UK groups all had a big clubhouse basically in the London scene where you might have drummer Phil Collins as a lad run into Keith Moon tending bar at a pub as a one off.

I think the former, Fillmore 71. As I say, it looks like he really got invested in the mockumentary project and had too much material for it, so it ended up on a separate album.

Posted by: SciVo at June 12, 2026 08:18 PM (Sy6m/)

102 I should explain, he's a corny singer/songwriter and he writes pretty funny stuff. He doesn't do parodies, but simple, pointed songs. He's liberal, but in the 80s liberals made fun of other liberals.

So "Sons of Bob Dylan" (linked above) has a horrible harmonic intro and then begins "Bob Dylan was the first Bob Dylan..." and then goes through all the fake folk singers, including Springsteen. Worth a listen. If you look through his other stuff, I own "Songs About Stuff" on CD.
"The Hippie's Lament" is really funny.

The refrain is: "I'm self-righteous, pretentious, and politically correct. My politics are slightly to the left of Karl Marx and Berthold Brecht. I've even considered joining a Buddhist sect."

I think it is safe to say that most artists of that era learned quickly that record companies were not their friends, and many times their management wasn't either.

At one time, Allen Klein became every big UK band's nightmare that he got his hooks into. Who Are You by Pete Townshend and the Who was written about Pete's experience with lawyers involving Allen Klein in the Tin Pan district fighting over royalties and then Pete went on a drunken bender (IIRC he tore up the check from Klein during that)--ran into two of the Sex Pistols telling them the Who was finished and the Sex Pistols had to carry on the tradition, etc. etc. And yes, waking up to a policeman.

But that douchebaggery seems to be spreading with Fender suing everyone for making copies of Strats from decades ago. Trying to leverage a German court decision as precedent and then using international IP law.

The defense of the Alcazar was epic. I need to read more on that. I think Long Live Death has the right amount of detail, but there is a lot more to learn. But by the time I finished, I was really burned out on the topic. Same thing happened with China.

The Teruel campaign was epic. The Nationalists fought like lions, turning every church into fortress, and every inch was contested. It was crazy. Last stands defending the altar.

And then Franco's decision to relieve them at all costs through bitter cold and snow. A pre-figurement of the Battle of the Bulge but just too late. So Franco took it back anyway, and then reasoned that the Republicans were exhausted, so instead of attacking Madrid, he threw his reserves on that front, and shattered it completely.

Drove all the way to the sea in Ford trucks.

A grim casualty of watching Spielburg's latest film and not surviving the occasion.

171 A modern artist or band that chooses to incorporate an earlier genre or sound into their music has always appealed to me for some reason. I like the creativity and melding of influences and sounds, I suppose.

Here's a favorite example that's about sixteen years old by an indie folk duo from Norway called Kings of Convenience.
I stumbled on it in YouTube recommendations years ago.

I'd describe it as an Up tempo 60s Bossa Nova-inspired Folk ballad:

'Misread'

Perfect for rainy Sunday evening dinner music.

Reich is there to explain to super smart credentialed liberals why they still have money problems but stupid dumb and retarded Republicans are awash in cash.
