Whatever

I guess I'm compelled to cover the daily diary drama of static stalemate and infinite "peace deals" about to be signed any moment now:

Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening. Discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and others. The Naval Blockade will remain in full force and effect until this Transaction is finalized -- Time and place of the signing to be announced shortly.

Sure.

But I think I've heard this before 18 to 35 times before.

Unrelated: A Somali referee was denied a visa from the Trump Administration due to terrorist ties.

The left has decided he's a hero. NBC, for example, cries that he's a victim of Trump's draconian visa policies.

According to NBC News, Artan's denial was due to the Trump administration's discriminatory anti-immigration policies.'

He is not an isolated case: 15 Iranian officials have also been denied entry, according to Iranian state media, as has the official Iraqi team photographer. An Iraqi player, Aymen Hussein, and other teams say they have been subjected to intensive and sometimes invasive searches at the border.

Oh no! Iranian officials have been denied entry into the country? And their only mission was to appear at a stadium, also known as a "target for a mass casualty event"?

The racism you guys, the sheer racism. My heart cannot take it.

Al-Shabaab, the Somali franchise of Al Qaeda, declares their support for the terrorist ref.

We are. Ship are leaving and coming to some extent by killing their transponders. See yesterday's conference and we just bombed the shit out of most of their radar and command centers yesterday that inhibit passage.

Most of the rest of it deals with Lloyds of London and shipowners fearing risk. The reality is that Iran doesn't really have the ability to sink much if anything of oil tankers, compressed nat gas and resin haulers more as they deal with more flammable materials.

39 No, I think I’ve made the argument that ceasing combat operations was a mistake. You don’t make a decision to engage in combat operations, then cease them short of your objectives. Iran provided material support for the insurgency in Iran and the Taliban in Afghanistan. That’s before we get to Hezbollah and a whole alphabet of terror organizations. The IRGC isn’t going to give up until they are all dead. They will cut a deal and wait for us to move out of the battle-space. Then they will resupply, reformulate and start all over again.

Trump is playing a double game--the long one is the blockade which doesn't get lifted until we get the nuke material safely. The short one is keeping current spot market oil prices down so you get the Iranians actually getting a taste of their own medicine which makes it difficult to oppose. Each time they try to escalate, they get whacked.

Sort of like the knight getting parts lopped off in Monty Python.

And this is at little risk and cost to the US other than playing whack a mole over and over again.

Patience in such situations is a virtue instead of rash action. Remember the goal stated and forever here is getting the nuke material out--not regime change. Israeli calculus is different and not ours. They want the IRGC gone, we are indifferent--if it happens yea, if not we have pulled the worst of their teeth.

And the blockade hurts every other economic and strategic competitor far worse than us.

Will the IRGC respect that piece of paper? Most likely no.
Will they surrender the enriched uranium? Most likely no.
Will they allow ships unfettered access to the Straight, without tolls? Most likely no.
So, whatever "deal" is being proposed isn't worth the paper it's printed on, factions of the Iranian power structure will violate it before the ink is dry and we're gonna be right back where we were yesterday, the day before and the day before that.

It's getting downright depressing watching the Iranians play Trump like this.

80 Being in the military is inherently dangerous. In 2025, 715 service members died in accidents and other causes. When you move into combat deployments, those numbers typically go up just by nature of the operations. We have 13 members KIA so far and a reported 400 wounded in Epic Fury. We almost had another two CWO’s smoked in the AH-64. We are there. We are ready. Everyone knows the risks.

101 best deal ever?

"Iranian report: 'Likelihood of Tehran approving current version of deal is high'
The Iranian news agency Fars reported that "given that the U.S. accepted the version proposed by Iran, the likelihood that this version will be approved by the regime is high." It was further noted that "about two weeks ago, the draft text of the memorandum of understanding between the negotiating teams was only waiting for final approval in Tehran and Washington. Trump again demanded to add some new details and in response Iran announced it would not examine the new version. Since Wednesday, Qatar entered as a mediator and announced the U.S. withdrawal from the new additional clauses. That is, a return to the original text that was still awaiting final approval. Not only did Iran not give a final response, but it is the U.S. that returned to its previous demand."

A basic knowledge of economics of supply and demand is simply not taught today for most people.

FWIW, hyperinflation is considered at 10 percent per year or higher. Trend lines on gas are actually flat for the first part of June because the miracle of the market has decided that 90's to 100 per barrel adequately prices in current demand/supply and risk. When energy prices start drifting down, which gas prices have done so in part in June, then so do other markers like groceries that depend on transport costs.

The oil shock since the Arab Oil Embargoes in 1973 and the Iranian Revolution in 1979, has been feared in the West ever since then. This shows it is in fact a paper tiger if a) we produce our own oil, b) much of the cost of that increased price of oil falls on China and other manufacturing nations that are competitors of the US. This shock is resulting in money coming into the US to buy our oil and gas rather than leaving. And is causing a lot of exploration and development of new resources here and in Venezuela.

158 Watch for it - the "deal" is going to hand Iran all the money they want, with only a promise to "negotiate" the nuclear material for 60 days. After 60 days, Iran will say "ha ha screw you we're keeping it all and building a nuke" and since every US asset will have been stood down, Trump will try to pretend that's what he really wanted all along. The US will never go into a war during campaigning for a mid term election, and Iran knows it.

The model for the deal - the Hamas "peace agreement" that promised to see Hamas be disarmed - and which collapsed completely in less than 60 days, with no one doing a thing about it.

CPI is a) a month out of date at least, and 2) tends to switch around important data points and exclude fuel and housing. It is 4% and down from 9% for May. ShadowStats thinks it is at 8% down from 11% level using 1990's standards.
There is another index that is more real-time that thinks the current CPI is closer to 2% and we will see that in the BLS data in a month or so
I hope so.

any deal with Iran would be bad, because any deal with them gives lifts sanctions and gives them billions to continue terrorizing the entire region, nukes or not. even if they abandon the nuke program (which they won't), they can build enough ballistic conventional missiles to erase entire countries from the face of the earth.

210 The fundamental problem Trump has is the only way to get the Iranians assholes to not be a duplicitous death cult is to eliminate them and the only practical way to do that is a full on war which likely mean troops on the ground. Trump won't go there, at least for now, because his hero play has him in the role of the peacemaker.

These opposing realities leave Trump with trying to convince the Iranian death cult to essentially commit suicide. Good luck with that. Plus they own all the dirt, don't give a crap about human suffering, and can read a calendar.

The Death Cult is playing Trump for a chump. They will never sign a peace deal and mean it. They might sign one if it gets them all the cash locked up in the West. Of course, 10 minutes, they will be right back to business as usual.

Trump still may be able to pulls this off but he is going to need to level all modern life in Iran, or, up to the point the regime collapses. And if not they path ahead, unfortunately for Trump, looks a whole lot like what happened to Japan and Germany in WW II.

Until then, enjoy looping episodes of Lucy yanking the football away from Charlie Brown.

Trump's war aim has been constant--no nukes for Iran. Iran started this by gloating they had enough material for twelve nukes.

So please explain what are YOUR goals for victory. Is it low gas prices? Regime change by boots on the ground? Blockading them harder? Sending in our troops into Iranian territory to grab and extract the nuke dust? Sending in an army to remove the government by force and occupying Iran until it is safe to leave?

He just launched a bunch of strikes including the key IRGC command center yesterday yet that is not enough? I think every critic needs to put up front what they consider 'victory'.

And the reason folks don't is because for some, it is restoring the Shah, for others, ending the IRGC with some new government, others, pulling back home, some want cheap gas again, and so on. Others, lets blow up a bunch of shit and leave again. Etc. etc. In the previous thread YD was at least willing to do that. Most don't because they know they are going to get flak from others with different victory ideas.

Hard to assess. A nuclear Iran means actual serious disruption to oil supply in the future(not this mild stuff)

At any rate, it's not particularly realistic unless the US were to have a disastrous land invasion. Under assumptions of a permanent blockade global oil supply will have adjusted well before then.

Correction - we would lose it b/c we wouldn't want to win it. We tend to fight with 2 hands tied behind our back. It makes it hard to win.

In the beginning, I didn't want to be here. I wanted to Cuba Iran...but we went in with the targeted leadership decapitation strike, the bombings and the retaliation that led to both sides are hand's off war. And now we tried to back off to a Cuba strategy (without the other side really doing so), but with way more assets needed and at risk.

So, as I've said, I don't care if Trump decides he tried, he kicked the can, and he's done. I just want him to decide that, save our money and assets, and leave. And not be in perpetual dither mode or "on again, off again"...

239 Trump still may be able to pulls this off but he is going to need to level all modern life in Iran, or, up to the point the regime collapses. And if not they path ahead, unfortunately for Trump, looks a whole lot like what happened to Japan and Germany in WW II.

Until then, enjoy looping episodes of Lucy yanking the football away from Charlie Brown.

Hard to do that with no money. The reason we are in this situation in the first place is cowardice from Carter through Reagan, Bush I and II, Clinton, Biden and Obama. Obama gave the Iranians billions to enable this mess.

Trump is instead trying to fix 48 years of kicking the can down the road without getting a bunch of Americans killed and without letting the Iranians have nukes to blow up the Middle East and perhaps more.

I am not going to sit back and bitch because I had to pay more in gas these last couple of months because Trump is doing everything possible to keep our troops from a bloody situation.

This is a long term situation that may take even years of a blockade because neither bombing is not sufficient and we are not going to invade Iran with troops like Iraq.

240 Piece of the Somali Ref story the media is ignoring...

He had a DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT, from Somalia.

Now, non Diplomats are not supposed to get diplomatic passports, which give you some immunity from Host country laws.

It was, on its face, a Fraudulent passport.

242 For the last six weeks:

TRUMP ISN'T DOING ANYTHING HE'S BEING PLAYED

Meanwhile, he was successfully blockading Iran to the point where their oil exports decreased 90%, which is about a 10% hit to their GDP. He was quietly doing Project Freedom while saying he wasn't, to the point where, if you believe him, 20+ tankers are moving through the Strait every night. Which is a good start, but needs increased obviously.

If the Strait is closed to Iran but open to us, their leverage is gone. That's a strategic victory.

It's the same old saw: look at what Trump does, not what he says.

There's no "journalists" embedded with the US forces in the Iran AO who are reporting from the war zone. They're all online "experts."

How do they know what's what if they're not actually there to see what's going on? So I suppose we take everything reported as truth when nobody's actually there?

That was my point. Whether reporters on site would make a difference is certainly debatable.

What they had is enough enriched uranium to make nukes in a couple of weeks or so. Takes very little to enrich uranium to bomb grade from over 60 percent. And they had hundreds of pounds of it enriched to that degree plus the missiles and warhead development to use them.

Whatever the faults of Mossad are, their penetration of Iran's nuclear program was excellent and the fact that the Iranians were trying to dig out those casks meant that we had to reengage this March to prevent them from exploiting it.

249 I think a lot of ruffled feathers around here and elsewhere would be soothed if Trump practiced a little strategic silence until the situation is absolutely certain.

But it’s Trump, and his ability to keep quiet was probably completely lost around the age of two.

One bright side is that he has an amazing ability to talk the stock market up and the oil price down, so he’s still got that much going for him.

Most here know I've been pretty much against all the foreign adventurism we've had as a Foreign Policy for the last 50 years...

From Lebanon in 83 on (I was there by the way) I think we've been way to involved in other countries affairs, WITHOUT the will to do the nasty things needed to actually fix anything.

So, the US military has been at war with various folks for 50 years... with only a couple of years of no combat ops... all while pussy footing around so nothing gets done.

But this one? Iran? is the root of most of the problems we've had in the Mid East since 79. We need to do HARD things to fix them. We need to spank the baby, until the baby changes behavior.

Posted by: Romeo13 at June 11, 2026 04:31 PM (mP0Kj)

251 214.

I won't get what I want. But I want these optics improved so that idiots here in America won't use them to elect gawdamned commies again.

My definition of victory is the inability for any organized military unit in Iraq to muster a force larger than 10 people or mount any military operation requiring more than a zippo and a can of gasoline.

No military or mixed-use infrastructure remaining to move, produce, or repair military hardware or sustain operations. Bridges gone. Power plants gone. Food storage gone. Depots gone. Railheads gone. Any assembly line longer than three retards and a pair of sheep shears, gone.

I want them planning in the dark, eating rats, and fighting amongst themselves for the last clean uniform to be buried in and a shovel to dig the hole.

All, and I mean all, gatherings of hardliners struck wherever they hide. Be it a mosque, a school, or a hospital. I want a sustained campaign of nonstop bombardment and targeted killings until everyone with the rank of Junior Janitor at the IRGC Latrine Complex in East Bumfuck, Iran is scared to go to work in the morning.

I want the fuckin Iranian military org chart full of empty lines.

255 I can live with the gas prices. I don't care about which group of Democrats wins the midterms.

My one concern is this, and I've been calling it out since the attack on Iran began: Trump is surrounded by corrupt, venal and stupid gangsters who want nothing more than a protracted land war, and they absolutely do not give a fuck that we will lose it.

They want it. They dream of it. They beat off in the mirror thinking about it. They do not care about humiliating our country, emboldening our enemies, endangering our troops, or anything else except their private empire building, and every day this drags on brings them closer to their horrible goal.

Yes. Sadly too many people simply have no patience anymore and want everything fixed right now. All the illegals deport, Iran war settled right now, the leftist shitheads involved in Russia Russia and voter fraud in prison right now, etc. etc.

Tired of even commenting now on a lot of matters because you come to the realization it is not even Trump that critics are complaining about, it is life in reality in 2026 where everything is a struggle. They want a Deux Ex Machina like in a movie to suddenly fix everything in a nice two hour package so they can live their lives without a shadow again.

As much as Trump has done, for that it simply cannot fulfill these expectations.

I see a lot of Europeans (especially) whining about the US not deserving to host the World Cup. And, arguably "soccer" while present in the US, is not a primary sport. In fact, if every high school didn't have a soccer team via tradition, the whole sport would be an afterthought in the US. That being said, I wonder how many people understand WHY the US is playing host, with FISA's approval.

The answer is "greed." The whole premise of the US hosting is due to NFL stadium facilities that guarantees a record financial windfall that isn't available in other countries. Nothing would make me happier than half filled stadiums, and ICE sitting right outside the venues for Central and South American country's games for kicks and giggles.

260 > Visa is looking at letting AI use your credit card and do your shopping for you.

I don't see the use case. With Amazon, you can already buy a "subscription" to a product. Say you go through a stick of deodorant every three months. You can put that on a three month subscription.

Or you can use Alexa to order things, but I've heard that is not a popular function.

So how does this work? Maybe AI can look at your order history and set up subscriptions for things you run out of on a predictable cycle. But it doesn't need you CC to do that. Just limited access to your Amazon account for updating subscriptions.

I could see that being helpful, but in a limited way. I'd be willing to see what patterns it could spot, but I'd want to be in control of the actual order finalization.

The Europeans who actually came here to see the games are having the time of their lives and don't want to go back to Europe. That's what the EU and the media really hate.

Same. My assumption is that the media's grossly distorting whatever this actually does, because "automatically shopping for you" is something Amazon's done for over a decade.
