Sorry for your being up early.

Yesterday's school bus story. A mother of a second grader asked that her son be moved. He's now sitting up toward the front of the bus , because two other second graders in the back told him They were going to bring knives on the bus and stab him. The boy can be a bit mouthy, but that seems a bit of an overreaction.

Have my truck back and will use my Garmin again. The company doesn't believe it can double mileage just for a faster arrival time. Going to a place today it at least might be another 1/3 extra. If so will take picture of what it is telling me.

14 @6/FenelonSpoke: Annoying situation that. The threats are almost assuredly "not real" and just bluster. Kids say a lot of stupid things.

The disciplinary actions are also mostly just bluster, and I think the kids know it, hence their bad behaviour: They know they won't get seriously punished for doing (or threatening) bad things.

Two weeks to go. I'm tired of putting up with the kids' crap.

I don't doubt it. My first year I didn't really get why every driver knew exactly how many days were left till the end of the school year as we headed into the last two months. Last year, I had an absolute peach of a route.

That got taken away from me at the beginning of this year and I got assigned two routes that are best described as "problematic".

Now I'm counting down the days. I get it now. *sighs*

27 I'm laughing at the possible prospect of a very weird future diplomatic negotiation now that Antares is a going concern....

"America, please nuke us. We really deserve it."

"We'll consider it. Maybe if you opened up a factory or two in Nebraska...."

"Oh, come on, America, why are you so gung-ho to not nuke anyone? A decent country doesn't go around threatening to not nuke people just to get what they want out of them..."

Posted by: Warai-otoko at June 11, 2026 05:33 AM (Ot/FD)

28 @26/FenelonSpoke: Nah, don't be. The route I had last year pops into one of the schools I stop at, and I've seen that the load-out of kids has changed dramatically. I've heard the radio calls from it reporting various problems back to the office. It's obviously not a "peach" route anymore.

You can't step in the same river twice.

43 G'morning or g'evening depending where youy may be. We have passed through another Woden's Day here, and are starting yet another day of Thor. ("I'm tho thore I can hardly move!")

I dreamed something fragmentary last night in which I was sitting in my car aboard a commuter train that took cars across a river. An exec of the train line told me, "We're gonna get rid of all these cars!" To which I said, "Do that and you'll get rid of your job. People *want* their cars with them during the day!"

I was trying to dial my cell phone, which somehow had gotten soaked and insisted on putting a "0" in front of every number I entered, thus scotching the call, when I woke up.
