Trump Signs Bill to Fund DHS and ICE Throughout the Rest of His Term

The 80-day long (IIRC) Democrat shutdown resulted in chaos and disruption but ultimately failed.

They're the party of chaos and disruption, riots and "teen takeovers," subway knife attacks and women having their throats slashed open by infinitely-indulged homeless maniacs.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed legislation to fund key immigration enforcement agencies through the end of his term after Congress approved the package via the reconciliation process.

"This morning, I'm thrilled to sign the Secure America Act to immediately and fully fund the Department of Homeland Security through the end of my term," he said at the signing ceremony in the Oval Office.

The legislation followed a record-breaking shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, which Democrats orchestrated in a bid to secure immigration enforcement policy concessions. Ultimately, the shutdown ended with Congress passing a bill to fund DHS that excluded funds for Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Eric Daugherty
@EricLDaugh

🚨 BREAKING: President Trump SIGNS $70 billion in ICE and Border Patrol funding through the end of his term through 2029, meaning Democrats have LOST the ability to hold our border hostage in government shutdowns

BIG WIN! 🇺🇸

"The Secure America Act provides $38 billion to ICE, $26 billion to Border Patrol to ensure these critical law enforcement agencies of the necessary resources to do their jobs, protecting our borders and getting criminal aliens out of the country."

Supposedly, Republicans added a provision allowing ICE to immediately arrest illegal aliens released from sanctuary jails.

The sleeper win is Senator Eric Schmitt's provision. For the first time, 𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 from prison -- something that was 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞.

"𝘙∗𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮∗𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘫𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴", Schmitt said. "𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦".

Was that really not permitted before?

In addition, the law now provides for the salaries of 200 investigators who will track down illegal alien child traffickers, and hopefully find all the children that Joe Biden permitted to be trafficked.

Rotten-hearted grim-faced hag Lisa Murkowski was the only "Republican" to vote against it:

The Senate passed $𝟕𝟎 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 for the rest of President Trump's term, 52 to 47. Every Democrat voted no -- and so did one Republican (Senate floor).

Senator Lisa Murkowski was the 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐞 and side with the entire Democrat caucus against the funding.

Her stated reason was the multiyear, mandatory structure and the process. The practical effect was the lone GOP vote 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐛.

I'd love to see the Hollywood version of an illegal alien Anne Frank hiding to escape the Trump regime. And then being sadly deported.

She has seniority and would lose chair positions on committees if she switched now. That would eliminate one of the few remaining reasons for her reelection. If ranked choice voting goes in Alaska this year via referendum, she might not even run for reelection in 2028. I think this is her swan song as a Senator.

93 If you are a dem in a heavy R jurisdiction, you hide it and run as an R.

This is why the most R leaning states often have the worst RINOs.

They master the politics of getting elected, but their heart is with the other party, and often they grift and get elected because they are working for the other side.

(If you are a commie in a D jurisdiction, you run as a D.)

The solution to all this only lies with the party. It is up to the party to cleans these scum off the rolls (in UK it is called "removing the whip" -- that is, removing them from the whip's list of votes used to pass legislation)

So all the blame for people like muckowki goes to the party.

You're right. There was never any impediment to ICE arresting illegal aliens whenever they're released from state or local custody.

Sometimes, in sanctuary cities, they refuse to tell ICE when a prisoner is due for release, I've read. So the problem for ICE is finding them after they're released.

I can't see how Sen. Schmitt's provision changes that at all.

It means that any local judge, police, jailer that tries to interfere with the arrests can then be federally charged with obstruction. It makes clear that the state and locality of sanctuary laws does not apply in anyway to federal law enforcement actions. And fwiw, any politician issuing orders for his underlings to do such things is now facing charges as well.

Blue judges cannot save them now trying to rely on ambiguity of congressional intent for federales to send these criminals away via ICE and Border Patrol.

That is not necessarily true. PRC may have (likely did) use the migration chaos to mask their own effort to get past the Panama barrier.
