The Left, Which Has Propagandized Against Childbirth and For the Self-Extiction of the Human Race for 50 Years, Wonders Why People Aren't Having Babies Any Longer

Of all the anti-human psyops of the left, this one is the most consequential -- and insidious.

The New York Times looks right past their own relentless anti-childbirth propaganda and names "cell phones" as the disruptor.

Now, thare's some truth in that -- in that the cell phone is The Regime's greatest achievement, a mobile, personal, 24/7/364 portal to Regime propaganda.

Why Are Birthrates Down? Two New Studies Point to Phones.

Modern smartphones rolled out in 2007, the year that fertility rates began falling. Two studies say that is not a coincidence.

The enduring mystery of the fertility decline has a new culprit: the smartphone.

Experts have long wondered if phones played a role in the birthrate decline -- which began in 2007, the same year that Apple introduced the iPhone -- but until now there had not been hard evidence to prove it.

Two new papers, one published Monday and the other in May, are the first academic endeavors that test whether the smartphone was a cause.

They are the most recent efforts to explain the sweeping fertility rate decline in the United States and other countries over the past 20 years. Researchers have already looked at contraception use, abortion rates, rising levels of female education and even the popular television show "16 and Pregnant."

Proving phones caused the decline is a tricky endeavor. There were a number of major events in those years, including the Great Recession, and isolating smartphone use is difficult.

The gold standard for scientific evidence is known as random assignment. It compares outcomes for people randomly chosen to receive a treatment (like getting a smartphone) with people who are not.

But that is not possible when it comes to ferreting out reasons for declining fertility.

So researchers sought out data about smartphones that introduced randomness.

Caitlin Myers, an economist at Middlebury College, and Ezekiel Hooper, her student, used the spotty early rollout of the iPhone as a way to isolate the effects of the phone on fertility. The first iPhone was released in June 2007, they wrote, and was available only on the AT&T network until February 2011. The study compared fertility rates in U.S. counties that had near-universal AT&T coverage with counties that had little or none.

Their paper, published in the National Bureau of Economic Research, found that the iPhone caused as much as half of the fertility decline between 2007 and 2011. The most pronounced effects were among young people aged 15 to 24.

What happened in the counties with iPhones? One theory, Professor Myers said, is that young people began to socialize more on their phones and less in person, and consequently were less likely to have sex and become pregnant.

And what messages did they get over their cellphones 24/7? Constant crisis, constant fear, constant messaging that the world was ending and it was all due to human births, constant messaging in favor of hook-up culture and abortion and, for the boys, pornography, and constant messaging against marriage, the family, and humanity itself.

And then they wonder: Why are women under 40 barren by their own decisions and actions?

The SPLC has declared that restricting abortion is "white supremacy."

By the way, the organization that calls all Republicans "Nazis" and gets them debanked and hunted by leftwing assassins can't comment on Gerald Platner's Nazi tattoo.

And speaking of cell phone disruption...

Karmelo Anthony breaks down in tears as he heard verdict. We have not taken a break. Karmelo has been walked out of the court. Karmelo's mother is also sobbing in her seat.

Extraordinary moment just now: Karmelo's lawyer asked if he could take his client somewhere to pull himself together. Judge responded Karmelo has been found guilty is now in the custody of the sheriff. 'Things move differently now,' judge said.

Do they really think things are that far gone that they can just murder innocent people and then ask to be let go so they can calm themselves down with a fidget-spinner and pot?

13 The cellphone is insidious. Before I retired, I would walk across campus and see almost every single students glued to a cell screen, whether sitting or walking (and not watching where they were going). When I started working there in '88 and again in 2002, students actually looked up and around at the world.

Miss Linda sits here every evening and scrolls endlessly on her phone.

I use mine for phone calls and texts, and not much else. It stays in the car when I go into the library or someplace that asks you to mute the device.

14 I'm pretty sure fertility and birth control are two separate issues. Many young women don't want to have children. It's very difficult to support a family in these modern times and even more difficult to establish a home without getting youself into debt up to your fucking eyeballs. But rest assured, the economists and the government are on your side.

This has been a trend for a while, religious people and conservatives are having all the kids.

I don't think its phones directly, but social media is definitely a big part. I was talking to a youth group leader and she was saying just relationships in general are very odd with young people. Like nobody feels they have any friends.

I think it's partly economic. Buying a starter home in large swaths of America is basically gone unless you have family money. You can thank Private Equity and VRBO for destroying that. If you can't buy a house, do you really think people feel safe starting a family?

42 Watched some random panel discussion the other night about declining birth, marriage, dating, sex etc. and one guy did tie it to the iPhone and social media but started with noting that kids in clubs don't dance. Why? The panopticon. Everything is on video and gets broadcast worldwide. You don't look cool enough you get put on blast. You ask a girl out and she thinks you aren't hot, you get put on blast. You do anything at all that somebody doesn't like you get put on blast and shamed in front of the whole world. So extreme risk aversion - and not an entirely irrational one - is part of the equation.

80 Soy does not affect testosterone or raise estrogen in men. It does contain plant based phytoestrogens, but it does not effect hormones unless you are eating more soy than would almost be possible, and the minute you stopped eating it, because you probably want to throw up, the minimal impact would reverse almost immediately. BUT what studies have shown is eating soy (like in soy protein shakes, or edamame, or tofu) in normal amounts actually has a positive impact on prostrate cancer. It also has shown in multiple studies to have a positive impact on bone density in women.

In addition to a lot of things like economics, the hook up culture shares a lot of blame also. Women thinking a career is super important sort of sideline themselves until its too later. Men dont want to start a family with a woman that's nearly 40.

118 I realize that the internet, and specifically social media, has made everyone intensely stupid.

I was struck by this when watching this Karmelo trial play out. The evidence was overwhelming, incontrovertible, even; and the self defense claim was laughable. The "size of the knife" was an incredibly stupid issue for anyone to bring up, because it meant absolutely nothing. It was big enough to kill, issue closed. It was an obvious slam dunk conviction to me, right from the start.

Add to that one of the most incompetent defense performances I've ever followed, by an absolute clown for a lawyer. And yet here were a host of people saying KA would be found innocent because he was just a sweet nice boy. Was I crazy, or were there?

Answer is in - their hopes were shipwrecked on the cruel hard rocks of Reality, and a 3 hour guilty verdict in a murder case is about the most slam dunk declaration of guilt that you will ever see. And yet the net is full of all these people crying and wondering, "how could this have possibly happened?"

That truism about declining birth rates isn't completely true; or at least it's quite misleading. I have a very conservative catholic nephew in north Florida, and he and his wife have 7 kids. A lot of conservative Christians see it as their duty to have families like that.

A dark joke I've often made, and which is looking more likely to come true every day now, is that within 40 - 50 years the US will be populated by 50% conservative Christians, and 50% Mexicans. And that'll be an interesting mix.

It's an uncomfortable topic to mention, but the black segment of the population - except for those who intermarry with the hispanics, and in my part of the world there's a lot of that - is weeding itself out of the population.

There is usually a small button the disposal itself, that is an internal Breaker... I'd check that first...

If it isn't the internal breaker, the breaker/fuse at the panel, and it's plugged in, I'd suggest using a wrench for garbage disposals, in case the blades were locked during the install.

From what I recall, there is one outlet for both the dishwasher and disposal, from what I've seen. Check that they are both plugged in. Check the circuit breaker is not tripped by cycling it.

If it is an older place, there may be one GFCI outlet on the bank of kitchen outlets that could have tripped. Reset that.

On newer constructions, the breakers may be GFCI - ours are - and you will have to reset the breaker and/or GFCI in the panel, where the GFCI on the breaker is a little colored pop-up button that you can reset.

The French tried to measure CO2 in around 1700.
It was capturing air and find the density and quality (flammability) and the always came up with 400 ppm.
Same as today.

237 If I'm remembering my trivia, Kansas is not even in the top 5.
Florida is #1
Posted by: polynikes

Florida goes from 0 to 345 ft above sea level.

ND from 750 to 3506. KS from 679 to 4039.

The eastern halves of those states are pretty flat. They just get too close to the Rockies on their western ends to be "flattest."

I think the Red River Valley in northeastern ND and northwestern MN is "locally" the second-flattest place in the country, behind Utah's salt flats. It was the bottom of "Lake Agassiz" for a few millennia after the last glaciation.

254 I had some marriage and family issues today. My younger daughter came over. She told me she worked a wedding at the winery where she sometimes works. She told me the bride went up into the barn loft. Her father went up there to greet her and begin the walk down the aisle. The bride was clearly very moved. Ten years ago, when my daughter married, there was family drama causing her to essentially elope rather to have a big ceremony. She told me, tearfully, that she regretted that she had not had me there to walk her down the aisle. I never blamed her for the drama that had prevented a ceremony but I was sad she and I were deprived of that.

Those ice cores (and probably other methods) may not all totally reliable, but did tell us something. I thought we got down to around 280 ppm, where 180 would mean extinction or something. Also periods of much higher CO2.

Eh, almost every recent show or movie has some chick spewing the line that kids are4 awful and spoil your life and anyway you can wait till you're in your 30s or whenever. Freeze your eggs.

It's not always said that plainly but that's the message.

What women have forgotten is that (IIRC) ages 16-30 is the prime period for having kiddos biologically and fertility wise.

I've know several couples who waited till their mid-30s to have babies and have had a very hard time. Not all but several.

Biology is a strict mistress, folks.
