They're trying to get Steyer in to 2nd place. Which is laughable, as he never polled above the teen percentages. He has zero charisma, no popular support, no fan base, low poll numbers, nom "buzz" whatever, is a perennial loser joke candidate -- and yet they are trying to push him over the topint the general election, even though it's patently absurd.
I think they're worried -- understandably so -- that Becerra is so mentally retarded that he might flame out entirely i the general. So they're rigging things by making sure that the backup option (Steyer) is even worse.

As as evidenced that this is the most secure election of all time It should be noted that California accepts as ID when registering to vote gym membership cards, employer ID cards, credit or debit card, prescription drug labels, and insurance cards.
Oddly none of those regularly or ever, except the employer ID cards, include photos of the person presenting the document as ID. This sort of begs the question of how many of those can you run per hour off a laser printer?
Rule one when stealing an elections is to drag out the first week as long as you can so you can get an accurate count of how many votes you have to come up with.
Rule two apparently is to allow anything as ID when registering as long as it doesn't have a picture of the person presenting it.
Rule 3 is to use mail-in ballots because they're very convenient when ballot seeding and harvesting or in an emergency discovering boxes of ballots 2 or 3 weeks in t o the vote counting.

Anchors was always a stupid term--the Brits used news readers which is exactly what they do. According to old CBS reporter types, Pelley was a PITA to work with and he often botched their carefully arranged stories with his own ham handed and ignorant 'contributions'.
If I was CBS, figure just use an AI personality to intro stories by the reporters. The rest of the idiotic musing, ponderings, facial expressions, and overall intellectual vacuity that are modern anchors can then be dispensed with at a far lower cost.

Anyway, right after sunset, look to the west, and see Venus close to Jupiter. Two bright lights, can't miss it. If you've got a clean unobstructed view of the horizon, you may see Mercury there below just above the horizon.
Believe it or not, there will be UFO reports over this. Venus alone does this when it gets bright, and conjunctions with Venus even more.

Even at the local level, the degree of stubborn ignoramuses impervious to new ideas and knowledge, those that speak and act by cant, and the sociopathic slimeballs that pervade our politics soured me on almost all of them. I support the good local politicians but my experience overwhelmingly in state and federal election work is negative.

Here's my dismalest take on California, where I also live.
I'm not sure why Cali bothers with vote fraud. The voters here really are idiots. I think it's possible that LA really did split its votes between Raman and Bass because look at the numbers: 15% of registered voters in LA are Republican. Trump's approval is -55% in LA. How would that add up to a genuine 2nd-place finish for Pratt? HOWEVER, the timing is insanely suspicious. Pratt starts off at a strong second and finishes at a distant third???
But really, coastal Californians are so stupid and brainwashed I think Democrat governance is "real," in a sense. Voter fraud isn't even necessary in this state.

Actually not always--our political institutions used to be more solid, in part, because serious people with good educations worked there. Once the Cold War ended and generations shifted, you get the double whammy of declining religiousity in the American people, endless outsider grifters after 1968, corporations that turned into amoral global institutions that hollowed out towns, dispensed with loyal workers, and always went for the cheapest labor they could get, and the precipitate decline in moral behavior.

The new listings for DoW chaplains and faiths I think. Started a whole debate over what is Christian. The theological line depends on whether your sect adheres to the Nicean Creed (of which there are two parts) but in particular the triune lord. Then whether or not new much later additions to the Bible are to be permitted.
Orthodoxy in Christianity (not the sect)) requires following the Nicean creeds and no new modern additions of books and prophets to sacred texts. Many groups calling themselves Christian do not. So who is correct is at issue?

What's weird is that LDS was given their full title, whereas the various Protestant factions were sort of lumped together into confessional baskets. You'd think they'd be happy that instead of being "Christian - Mormon" they got a degree of specificity denied other denominations.

I expected Lindsey to be re-elected after I started seeing some pretty effective attack ads against businessman Mark Lynch, his only real opponent this go-around, who has a 1984 felony conviction for cocaine trafficking.
So nothing really surprising there with Trump’s endorsement.
Picking Evette (current Lt. Gov.) over Mace is probably going to send Nancy Mace straight to the political wilderness, though, as she has been running a dismal campaign against four candidates and she needed Trump’s endorsement to have a chance.

For the most part, discussing religion here is one of those topics that always ends up with hurt feelings, unpleasantry, bigotry as to what is the 'true' faith, and so on. Because leftist religion is largely politics, that makes them impervious to reasoning on key tenets of faith but once you get into the weeds on religious doctrines, you can piss off almost everyone on the right that is religiously observant.
It becomes a matter of personal identity which is why tolerance as a doctrine was finally used to end the religious wars in Euro land. But also why the Muzzies have used that peace agreement in the world of Christianity against the West.
You cannot tolerate an intolerable faith.

I would suggest not. A good Catholic wife serves her husband, and her husband loves her, which means he serves her. No idea why they think SUBservience is required, but for Mormons, it is that way.
A Catholic wife cannot be denied sex unless there is a serious reason to not do it. Likewise, there is no good reason for a Catholic wife to stay with an abusive husband. He is not allowed to remarry if he chooses divorce. He like wise cannot be in full communion if he chooses to divorce.
IOW, be not an asshole, and you are good.
Mormons can beat their wives with impunity. They can withhold sex, and money, and freedoms, and all sorts of things, and she has no recourse.

I had to code religious beliefs in sects in a study about abortion legislation once upon a time.
I learned there are plenty of controversial beliefs among sects scattered around. Church and religious history is a fascinating subject but in open forums, comments start degrading into my faith is better cuz rather than rational discussion.
As far as accessibility, to me, Catholic theologians are probably the most careful of all but then again, a lot of sources in Orthodox or the more obscure ancient texts of Copts, etc. in the Middle East are much less accessible to me.
Protestant theology is often a mess, in part due to the Age of Reason as they drifted away from Catholic theology.

Just looking, the entire continental US has basically entered the window of earliest sunrise times when rounded/truncated to the minute.
It surprise me how far north Seattle is. They're only getting about 2 hrs of true astronomical night right now, and that will bottom out at ~1:45 on the solstice. And because of DST, astronomical night doesn't begin until after midnight there.

Presidential elections were held in Colombia on 31 May 2026. Incumbent president Gustavo Petro, elected in 2022, is constitutionally barred from seeking a second term.
In the first round, right-wing candidate Abelardo de la Espriella led with 44% of the vote, followed by left-wing candidate Iván Cepeda with 41%. As none of the 13 candidates obtained at least 50% of the vote in the first round, a runoff will be held between the two on 21 June 2026.
Cepeda is Petro's chosen successor, Espriella is the Conservative, though for Colombia that could mean "Bill Clinton, but Law and Order" because Colombia.

They both accept the Nicene Creed. LDS does not, and disparages those denominations that do.
My middle kid's best friends were Mormon twins, and so in theory having them hang out with Catholics was a problem, but in true Old School American fashion, the topic never really came up.
There was an awkward moment in high school where some other kid said Mormons aren't Christian, and one of her friends turned to her for reassurance and had to do the "technically...according to the Catholic Church, she's right. But we can still be friends!"

The solid ones, like Stefanik, you never hear about.
Blame both the media and voters in some states for the squishes (Collins is representing a blue state for example-Kevin McCarthy was a squish for much the same reason despite representing a red district). Some become squishes to rise in leadership in the party, some because their real business is getting generational wealth, and others because the media flatters them.
The performative arts types are people without an ideological compass that seize on riding whatever is popular at the time to get recognition or power. Look at how some of the Tea Party types, like Mike Pence, ended up. GOP voters and party are running more women and so like their male counterparts during surges, you get a lot of duds.
Not really a sex based thing.

I shall be more specific. In a time when it is widely recognized that including gender and race in promotions has been disastrous to the US military, wrapping your identity around be the "first woman" anything in the military is politically problematic.

I'm frankly sick of "first" whatever. That's who she is. Not the best, some random first. Just like we had to have first female F-14 pilots, first female rangers, first female flag officers. Canada's highest military officer is a chick. Same for Australia. Enough already.

I kinda wonder why we can't manage to put some of these characters all in a room together and refuse to let them out until they agree on a way forward or do each other in.
We hear all of this personality-related shit about MTG, Bobert, Massie, Trump, TuCa, and so forth instead of all of them arguing about how we can get rid of more illegal aliens this week than we did last week...or how about starting over with the intelligence agencies, eliminating the H1-B Visa program, auditing (or replacing) the Federal Reserve, or dramatically reducing government spending?
Trump et. al. have been successful to a degree, but there is a LOT more to do. We don't have time for all the personal bullshit.

They believe God was once a man, and that if men follow their teachings, they too can become "exalted" and become gods.
They believe Jesus is a created being. Like (as others have pointed out) the angels, such as Satan.
As the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith found in 2001, Mormon Christology is not even a heresy, but is a completely different theology, and therefore their baptisms - while using the same words - meant very different things.
This should be unremarkable from their perspective, because the believe that they alone are actual Christians, have have a particular venom for the Catholic Church, which (in their teaching) led all men away from God.

However, organization or not, that is a doctrine that we should consider John 3:16 as central. The only question is that is that a better scripture reading than an alternative--or even as central, can we improve upon that understanding as part of the whole of scripture?

People were younger then as a rule. The ones that stuck with the blog are more socially aware and I think sense our peril now is far more dangerous than during the SCOAMF years. The vibe was far more libertarian back then from my recollection as was the earlier web so the insults, etc. flowed from that sense of freedom of what was repressed in society.
Now, too much evil has been revealed from quarters that we erroneously thought could never truly win or persuade. So a certain grimness has taken hold of people here that don't tolerate just asking questions from bad sources and contrariness as much anymore.
It was hard to take those Obama sycophants seriously at the time (the fake columns in Denver for example) but the intent of leftists in his orbit were to destroy the world as we know it. And they just about got away with it.

If you view things as a projectable tensions, we construe that God knows the end as "predetermination". But pre-determined doesn't so much appear in the Bible, it just stresses God's foreknowledge. That he cannot be surprised and will not be surprised.
Predetermination is when we start to get clever and assume we know how God pre-knows. In other words, the stress is what God knows, not the futility of our lives, which scripture never gives us much to say is futile, unless we chose to remain in rebellion.
We have all the "choose" literature in contrast.
Even though we can come up with a simple model of God "outside time and space" and the entire human life being chartable on a grid, we should not let our need for simplicity determine whether or not God is cryptic on "choosing".
