This style of regional American art from roughly the depression period is right in my wheelhouse. Where that comes from is having spent a bunch of time poking around the rural Western US with a camera and bag of lenses.

These painters aren't Rembrandts from a technical perspective; their talents are elsewhere. As a group they have a singular ability to capture western American culture in transition, half late 19th century with the other half dipping its toes into the technological 20th century.

If they were painting today they would still nail the vastness of the American West and most likely would be capturing F250s with a Starlink antenna on the roof headed towards Amarillo to hear a country band at Starlight Ranch.

Totally would hang.

The left has no real principals or beliefs. You can find the same leftists arguing the stock market growth doesn't matter at all now, arguing that the stock market going down in Apr meant Trump failed, and in the 2020s that a growing stock market means Biden's economy was good.

The stock market is one part of the economy and should be considered but it isn't everything. Of course during the Biden years of 10%+ in real inflation means then you'd need a larger return then that for actual stock market growth.

216 Mason County Landscape, 1940
Charles T. Bowling

The painting is sweet, very Americana. I could hang it.

In part, "Bowling began studying fine art at age thirty-five, when a long convalescence at home left him with free time to sketch and paint. He subsequently studied with Olin H. Travis at the Dallas Art Institute and then pursued independent studies with Frank E. Klepper and Alexandre Hogue. Bowling developed a highly finished, realistic style that featured rural landscapes and urban scenes; he favored a subtle palette of grey, ochre, rust, and cool blue-green."

That isn't a bad thing. There are trillions of dollars invested in index funds and other passively managed investments. Algorithmic trading is perfect for that sort of thing. It saves money.

219 Just looked at the portfolio. I think I can afford to buy that MacBook Air I have been oogling and still have enough money to go see Tab Beniot tonight in Silver City.

Please.

Bruce Springsteen IS a billionaire, with his net worth officially estimated by Forbes at $1.2 billion. However, the rock icon himself publicly disputes this valuation. Of course.

231 Speaking of regionalist painters. Alexander Hogue's large paintings of west Texas landscapes are quite spectacular if you can see them person. The internet and books do not do justice to them. I think there is a museum in Tulsa OK that might have some of his paintings. His erosion paintings - Mother Earth laid bare includes what looks like a sand sculpture of a bare woman with nice "bosoms"..

232 There are 7 companies that have had outsized gains over the last 10 years. You would actually think that would reduce the effectiveness of algorithmic trading.

And I have seen people whose investment strategy is just "buy as much of those stocks or QQQ as possible"
