Trump Endorses Ken Paxton for Senate

It's a bit late but hopefully it will swing enough votes to put another RINO out on the street outside of MSNOW begging to go on camera for five minutes to pitch his podcast.

Correction: The runoff is next Tuesday, not today as I originally claimed. (I saw a stupid media article saying the runoff was "this week," yesterday.)

Thanks to hobbitpoly.

@nicksortor

🚨 BREAKING -- IT'S OFFICIAL: President Trump has endorsed KEN PAXTON in the Republican primary for US Senate in Texas

John Cornyn is DOOMED.

"I know Ken well, have seen him tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and he is a WINNER! Ken is a Strong Supporter of TERMINATING THE FILIBUSTER and, very importantly, THE SAVE AMERICA ACT"

More:

The Highly Respected Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton, an America First Patriot, and someone who has always been extremely loyal to me and our AMAZING MAGA MOVEMENT, is running for the United States Senate, to represent a place I love and WON, BIG, three times, with 6.4 Million Votes in 2024 (The Most Votes in the History of the State, BY FAR)!

I know Ken well, have seen him tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and he is a WINNER! Ken is a Strong Supporter of TERMINATING THE FILIBUSTER and, very importantly, THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, something which polls at 87%, including Dumocrats, and yet can't seem to get approved. Perhaps Ken can help move these important elements of Government forward because with the Filibuster, as an example, the Democrats will terminate it on their First Day in Office, giving us two extra States, D.C. and Puerto Rico, and a greatly enlarged Supreme Court of the United States, probably going with their Dream Number of 21 Justices from the 9 that we currently have -- And these new Justices will be Radical Left Lunatics! Two years ago, our Country was DEAD -- Now we have the "HOTTEST" Country anywhere in the World -- And I want to keep it that way. Ken Paxton will help me do that, MAKING AMERICA BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!

Ken is a true MAGA Warrior who has ALWAYS delivered for Texas, and will continue to do so in the United States Senate. He will tirelessly fight to continue the Great Growth of our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations (I just delivered the Largest Tax and Regulation Cuts in American History!), and Advance MADE IN THE U.S.A., Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Champion Texas Oil & Gas, Advocate for our Amazing Farmers and Ranchers, Promote School Choice, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Support our Incredible Military/Veterans, Safeguard our Elections, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.

John Cornyn is a good man, and I worked well with him, but he was not supportive of me when times were tough and, despite having the Most Successful Economy in the History of our Country during my First Term and, with all of the many other things that I accomplished (Secure Border, Military Dominance, Space Force, All Time High Stock Markets and 401(k)s, Record Job and Economic Growth, and so many other things that would be impossible to readily list!), which are considered by many to be legendary, John was very late in backing me in what turned out to be a Historic Run for the Republican Nomination, and then, the Presidency, itself, both of which were Landslide Victories and, more importantly, gave us the Country that we have today -- THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA (and when we finish up with Iran, which will not be allowed to have a Nuclear Weapon, you will see numbers that have never been generated by our Country before!), as opposed to the DISASTER of the previous Administration.

Ken Paxton has gone through a lot, in many cases, very unfairly, but he is a Fighter, and knows how to WIN. Our Country needs Fighters, and also Loyalty to the Cause of Greatness. We can never allow what happened to the United States of America during the Corrupt Biden Administration, to happen again. In Texas alone, just look at the Border, with the Highest Level Criminals allowed to run through your State, totally unvetted and unchecked, through an Open Border Policy that was a Laughingstock all over the World. I came in, and fixed it, IMMEDIATELY. I will not permit those dark and dangerous days to come back! WE HAVE ALREADY MADE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, BUT NOW, WE WANT TO MAKE OUR NATION BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE. Therefore, Ken Paxton has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next United States Senator from the Great State of Texas -- KEN PAXTON WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!

Should have passed the SAVE Act, Thune.

I cannot overstate how important and salutary it is to establish that the voters will discipline and eject nonperforming office-holders who do not vote the way the voters want them to. If this becomes a permanent trend, it will be one of the most important accomplishments of the Trump years.

Let's take out Thune, next.

18 It would not surprise me if Paxton was offered the endorsement previously, but wanted to drop it late in the campaign in the event that momentum wasn't forming naturally. Paxton doesn't appear so, but he is one of the most strategic and crafty politicians out there. He, ultimately, overcame an entrenched dynasty down in Texas and came out smelling like roses. You don't succeed like that unless you have a couple brain cells working in tandem.

My guesses in no particular order of likelihood:

1) Polling has been moving to Paxton and Trump only sees a high chance of success if he came out today

2) Trump discussed with Paxton and their strategy was to have a dramatic last minute endorsement

3) Trump's negotiations with the GOPe class broke down and he gave them an ultimatum which they turned down

The problem is when the voters stupidly eject a faux-conservative, and in his place bring in a...liberal who lies.

That's what happened in the UK. The lame=ass Tories acted like RINOs for years, and the public wanted mass deportation of illegals, which the Tories wouldn't do, so in response, the public kicked out the Tories and...elected Labour. Who made things 10,000x worse.

We can only hope that doesn't happen in the US< where people get sick of a RINO, but in his place we get a socialist.

65 Trump knows how to make a difference, if one can.

Once Trump announces anything, the opposition goes into overdrive playing every card they have. I don't mean the opposing candidate. So a Trump endorsement can then lose total luster.

This "day-of" gave the opposition no time to mount anything. The news cycle is 45 minutes to an hour these days anyway. So it's the equivalent of what used to be an October Surprise. Trump gets the biggest and last word, people go out and vote, and that's the end of that.

Good riddance if Texas can get Cornyn out of there.

That said, I am old enough to remember when there was great anger among voters when national groups - including the President - would stick their noses into the primaries. Help during the general election was welcome, but dammit let the locals decide who the candidate should be.

Would it have been a better option to keep them in power in spite of their intransigence? Handing power to Labor was not ideal, but it was the only way to push change. There are reasons for this I wont go into here.

The Brexit voters in the UK knew what they were doing by punishing the Tories for that betrayal. They needed time for Reform to grow into a complete national contender so they abandoned the Tories who were crushed. Many of the Tories have now joined Reform, and may be getting squishy so Restore is growing to be a right side contender. The huge win for Labor was an illusion since all the parties colluded to give them seats - their actual vote totals remained static. Now the work for any elections now is to crush Labor.

The Labour Party only won one-third of the vote in Britain's 2024 election, but this translated into almost two-thirds of the seats due to the rest of the vote being so deeply split between the other parties. In particular, the Reform Party won 14% of the vote but only 4 seats, with its votes being spread diffusely, while the Conservative Party had large declines in its share of both votes and seats.

Voting around here is kind of a ridiculous Rube Goldberg machine. They look up your name and give you a code number which you tell someone who gives you an electronic card. They insert card in a slot on a computer, then they take the card back out. You then vote using that computer.

After you finish voting you press a button on the computer to print out your vote. Next you walk your printout paper to another person that has you feed it into a second machine that "reads" the vote.

I'm actually surprised they don't have a crank geared to a wheel with boots that kick a guy on a unicycle playing a tuba at some point.

177 The Brexit voters in the UK knew what they were doing by punishing the Tories for that betrayal.

It’s not true. That claim comes from the people who listen to the Dems who say Talerico will be “popular” because he talks about Jesus and pretends to be a pastor - even though he says Jesus hates guns and BBQ ribs, and that all illegal aliens should be welcomed and given free housing. Oh and he said that if Mary would have aborted Jesus that would’ve been just fine because God loves abortion.

Yes, that’s who they think is going to give Paxton a close race.

Ken Paxton is wildly unpopular. This is good news

1) love to see it because another "moderate" GOP enabler eats shit publicly.

2) because Talarico's chances should be better against Paxton and this sews that up as the general election matchup.

Trump is going to spend the rest of his life clearing out the old guard from the GOP, and EVERY one of them will think they won't be next until it happens. It's incredible.

Does any state have it worse than here? Can anyone else beat Ted Cruz and Ken Paxton as your two senators?

Although he’s mostly conservative, he’s pretty wily about always staying very friendly with both sides of the Texas Republicans - the MAGA conservatives led by Dan Patrick and Ken Paxton, and the Texas House C of C republicans backed by the Bush family and their allies.

This makes the Texas AG hard to choose - both Roy and Middleton are C of C republicans; Roy talks a bigger game and makes more of a show of being “conservative” but this kinda makes me trust him less.

I rather doubt that about Texas. Early voting is in-person and you have to show ID just like on election day. Mail-in voting is available for a restricted group (elderly, disabled).

One of the reasons I vote early is that I AM eligible for mail-in voting and I vote early and in person so that if a someone submits a mail-in in my name, it will get flagged as fraudulent.

I live nearish to that fire, within a mile of the 'prepare to evacuate' line in the westerly direction. It is up to 1400 acres burned but it moved south away from the houses up into the open spaces and ridges. By night the wind dropped and advances of the fires slowed. The reservoirs in Ventura County are full, those in LA County are empty. But they have had time to work on blocking the fire path towards LA County overnight and a lot of fuel has already burned. The prepare to evacuate order was lifted about 10 last night for my area, switched to areas east and south of the current fire.

Nuts started a write-in campaign for Doug Mastriano - for Governor - again - trying to stop Republican Stacy Garrity, businesswoman, and former Army officer who has served as the 79th Treasurer of Pennsylvania since 2021, and has done an outstanding job doing so.

BTW, President Donald Trump nominated Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Slovakia.

Nevertheless, BS in Pennsylvania time and time again:
Doug Mastriano had not a prayer in hell before to become Governor, and absolutely none now.

It has often been said his R nomination was orchestrated by the Dems and Shapiro, for Shapiro.

And the second issue is who is running for Lt. Governor on the R side. Jason Richey and John Ventre are competing Republicans.

Ventre, among other things, is a prolific author of fiction books that concern UFO sightings, and he says creativity is needed to make state government efficient. Richey is backed this year by the state Republican Party for lieutenant governor. (90.5 WESA has much more info. on both.)

303 From the Daily Mail, breaking news. Another reason for Thune to go:

Senate Majority Leader John Thune has come out against the 'anti-weaponization' settlement approved by the Justice Department. Under the deal, Trump dropped his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the IRS in exchange for the creation of a fund channeling taxpayer money to victims of 'lawfare,' including January 6 rioters.

'Yeah, not a big fan. I'm not sure exactly how they intend to use it. But my understanding is that was just announced,' Thune told reporters. 'But yeah, I don't see a purpose for it.'

The $1.776 billion fund will have the power to issue formal apologies and monetary relief owed to claimants. While Trump is barred from directly receiving payments from the fund, entities associated with him are not explicitly prohibited from filing additional ones.
