Shatner? No, he'd done quite a bit of TV before that. He was the son in the original pilot for the father-son lawyer series The Defenders; he'd played Archie Goodwin in a pilot for a Nero Wolfe series (and he'd have been great in both!). He was just starting to be something of a Name, though.
