Appeals Court Rules That Trump Doesn't Have to Pay Lunatic Fantasist E. Jean Carroll for the "Defamation" of Continuing to Deny This Vicious Fruitloop's Sex Fantasy About Him
Not only was the original allegation of "rape" insane and ripped off straight from an episode of Law & Order: SVU -- with this lunatic attention-whore unable to even say when the "rape" occurred more specifically than "in the nineties" -- but a subsequent New York jury also decided it was "defamation" when Trump later insisted upon his innocence.
Note that this rule has never been applied to anyone except Donald Trump. Any time a man proclaims his innocence following an adverse court ruling, someone can sue that man for "defamation" for denying his or her story. And note that every instance of a false claim is a fresh defamation case -- so you can just keep suing an innocent man forever, for saying he's innocent. This is government-compelled speech of the worst kind: When a partisan jury wrongly finds you culpable, not only do you have to pay the exorbitant penalty they impose on you for partisan bullshit reasons, but you are then compelled by government action to admit the lie of your guilt, forever, anytime someone asks you about it.An Appeals Court has agreed with Trump that he should not have to pay the insane jackpot $83 million judgment until the Supreme Court rules on this preposterous new Trump-Only Law.

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals this week temporarily blocked an $83 million dollar payment that President Donald Trump owed to E. Jean Carroll in her defamation case while the Supreme Court mulls intervening. The court order granted Trump's request for a stay, provided he increase his bond by nearly $7.5 million. Carroll, in 2019, accused Trump of raping her in a Bergdorf Goodman's dressing room some time in the 1990s. She brought separate legal claims for defamation over his denials while in office and after leaving.
I just want to remind everyone that in addition to once saying on CNN that "rape is sexy," E. Jean Carroll's accusation against Trump is an exact plot line from a 2012 Law & Order SVU episode.

Even in a civil trial, the standard of conviction is still a "preponderance of the evidence". If the only evidence is he said/she said, then the "evidence" is still 50/50, and an honest jury would not return a conviction/finding of guilt.
Of course, the "vicitim" can spin a lurid tale for the jurors, while the accused can only say he wasn't there and it didn't happen.
The only possible way the accused can raise an evidentiary defense is to prove they were somewhere else when the rape occurred.
I have certainly noticed that in both of the cases I cited above, the "victim" will NOT state for the record when the rape occurred. Therefore, the accused can never provide any evidence of their innocence.
I am pretty sure that is a deliberate design by the well-oiled Democrat smear machine.

Throw out the jury verdict as Ace notes, the alleged predicate offense (rape) was NOT proven to be true by the jury, so a he said, she said, would risk any person claiming to be innocent (and thus the other person is lying) to be targeted for a slander and/or a libel suit.
Ridiculous and ridiculous that the federal appellate courts did not stop this nonsense from NY state in the first place. This would financially penalize someone for claiming they are innocent and that the events never happened. And without proving the underlying offense--the jury never found Trump committed a rape, they claimed he slandered Carroll by denying he did it and attacking her story as false.
Now, apply this liability standard to anything that you have denied in your life--work, school, etc. If you denied it, now you can be sued for slander under the NY State's insane Get Trump jurisprudence.
There are also serious due process violations and other shenanigans involved in this case that appellate courts have ignored because Orangeman Bad.

Growing up we had several crows as pets. Our first two, Heckle and Jeckle, lasted a couple of years, but neighbors complained about the constant noise so we freed them. They continued to hang around for about a year as we continued to put out food for them. Eventually, we would only see once or twice a month and then no more.
The last pet we had was with us for 10 years. We had him in a large cage outside (big enough to stand up in) and in the winter, a huge cage in our basement. Super smart and very devious pet. He loved to terrorize our dog. He had a large vocabulary and had full sentences in his repertoire.
He ate our dinner leftovers and loved hard boiled eggs. He would eat the shells to help with digestion.
He would also call in wild crows to the point where they'd hang out on top of his cage during dinner time, hoping for handouts.
He ended up getting killed by a mink in early spring after moving from the basement to outside.
His name was Clarence and a special childhood memory

Adobe suite has very recently made TERRIBLE changes
I literally just use AI to do simple things now bc it's easier to use Chat for image composition than Photoshop with the changes. THAT IS CRAZY

Most suite software is like that- people rearranging deck chairs because they have nothing to really add to the system. It used to be a project where in the menu this version put a feature, now they move the menus around tucking them on the side, bottom, or up on the old title bar so you can't even move the window easily.

I found someone with my last name when we were at the Okinawa Peace Memorial. The weird part is, I know my great-uncle bombed the island in his B-24, and the only thing he said about it was that he was glad he was "up here" and not "down there." So "down there" was probably a distant relative that wound up dying.

Someone has to bring in Indians nepots for the jobs. Microsux is run now by Indian IT guys and it shows as they lurch from one crisis to the next while being bloated and full of security holes and fails including their critical Azure cloud network.
This is probably the last time I will even have ONE windows computer (I have a couple in the basement (Windows XP SP3, and Windows 7) with expensive and rare stat programs and math programs that I don't want to repurchase). Windows 12 is not even going to be considered.
I dislike Apple but will end up with their Mac Mini or an older Macbook of the Intel or early M1 vintage simply so I can do my taxes on it.
Too big a pain to get tax programs to work right now on Linux under WINE.
Although I might spend the downtime trying to do this before next tax season. The risk is it might throw some real world errors in the mix.

The max mission thing and how it kept changing was a running joke in the book Catch 22. That was in the ETO. Things might have been different in the Pacific where you could have very short missions and the B29s which would be super long by comparison.

Already in Texas, just moving to some of the First Lady's family land in the country. Living in an old trailer house, then hopefully putting some sort of home on the acreage in the next couple years.

You are correct. I just scanned it. It appears that his petition rests heavily on presidential immunity possibly from the fear that a broader based challenge would be treated as standard claims already rejected by lower federal courts.
The limits of presidential immunity, however, have not been considered much by lower federal courts nor state court systems. They simply rejected them.

One of my life's sincere highlights was talking with the man who was my grandfather's co-pilot that morning. We spent hours on the phone, and I learned so much about my grandfather. Not just as a pilot, but as a 23 year-old man in the middle of his war.
It was striking because I was 23 the first time I went downrange, too. It's impossible not to make comparisons.

I honestly don't understand the complaint. The new data center site is a seasonal livestock grazing area. It's cooling system is a closed loop, so it doesn't take a continuous water feed. The site will produce its own power, so there's no grid drain. It's supposed to generate $30 million in new revenues annually for the locals immediately, and that could go up.

I'm assuming it's 1 mission that day. I find it difficult to believe every aircraft lost was lost on their first mission and that every aircrew that survived their first mission went on to survive every other mission.
