The party considered all kinds of responses — including a scheme to force the retirement of every sitting justice on the Virginia Supreme Court. That's a perfectly normal reaction from a political party that claims they respect democratic norms, right? But they weren’t done. Marc Elias, the left's go-to power lawyer for all things election-related, took the rhetoric to a genuinely alarming place. Elias responded to the ruling by invoking language from the Virginia Constitution itself. Not to make a legal argument, but to suggest that the current Virginia government has lost its legitimacy and therefore can and should be abolished. I assure you that I am not joking. And no they are NOT joking either, as the past 70-200 years have shown!!! Have a good day.

The president needs Congress to act. There's no guarantee it will. GOP lawmakers, including Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), quickly promised legislation, but Senate Majority Leader John Thune was noncommittal.
Of course he's 'noncommittal.' Thune would never in a hundred years let such legislation pass. If it did and gas prices lowered, then the GOP might take the midterms, and that is the one thing they absolutely DO NOT WANT. That was a good article on Pope Francis from

However, I would be surprised if all the thing happens under this Pope From a comment following the article: "Be prepared for married clergy, normalization of same sex marriages, acceptance of transgender clergy, tacit acceptance of abortion and euthanasia" Pope Leo has already said he will not endorse same sex marriages , and he's been pretty clear about his opposition to abortion, and transgender clergy- I don't think so. My favorite whining by the Democrats about Virginia is the "how dare the courts overturn the will of the people!" I recommend responding by asking how they felt about the courts overturning California's prop 8 back in 2008...you know, where California voters choose to amend the State constitution to outlaw gay marriage, which the state courts had previously imposed on them.

Democrats have long held a tenuous relationship with democracy. It’s like riding the bus, when you get to your destination, you get off. In response, Democrats want to block vouchers so the kids can’t escape the reservation. Still the real question is what impact will this have on the people who matter most. Not the kids. Obviously. But the unions.
Rep. Gina Hinojosa, D-Austin, asked whether the enrollment decline could affect the teacher retirement system. “Have you looked at the impact that this decline will have on the viability of the teacher retirement system?” Hinojosa said. This system isn’t built for kids, it’s built for unions. And until that changes, the system will abuse and fail kids just like a Dickensian orphanage. The obvious answer is to transition away from TRS to 401k accounts for teachers (and any other government workers getting an old style pension). There is a reason why industry moved away from pensions long ago. Posted by: I used to have a different nic at May 13, 2026 08:13 AM (ExV1e) 49

Newsweek: AOC Surges to Lead in 2028 Primary for First Time—Most Accurate Pollster (AtlasIntel). AOC led with 26% support. Former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg followed with 22%, while California Governor Gavin Newsom received 21% support in the poll. Former Vice President Kamala Harris received the backing of 13% of respondents.
Go for it! I was in the "She should run for senate against Schumer" camp, but if she is going to enter the presidential race as a front runner, I am on board. I would vote for her, as I did Clinton and Harris. But do we really think running a woman will work? In 2016 and 2024 the woman was BY FAR the best candidate. Yet they lost. I just think it's a mistake and a lesson not learned. This feels too hopeful like Bernie, and will probably be rejected but I've been saying for about 6 years at least, AOC 2028 I'll support whatever she does, but I'm not excited to watch *another* incredibly capable woman lose to the worst possible option because of her gender... Term limits don’t drain the swamp—they empower the permanent bureaucracy by forcing out the only elected officials experienced enough to challenge it.
While there may be issues with term limits, this concern is bullshit. I've never been an elected official and I am aware that the way to deal with a recalcitrant bureaucracy is to eliminate it, and the people working for it (their jobs, not the people), and replace it if absolutely necessary. Our current Congress People for Life don't seem to ever challenge the permanent bureaucracy. Posted by: I used to have a different nic at May 13, 2026 08:18 AM (ExV1e) 60

Juan is derived from Hebrew, meaning "God is gracious," and has a long history in Spanish-speaking cultures. Lynn is of English origin, meaning "pool" or "lake". Posted by: Smell the Glove at May 13, 2026 08:07 AM (gu0hJ) Probably not nearly as much as you think. Remember how cheap a lay Warmonger Bolton was. Posted by: XTC at May 13, 2026 08:09 AM (iXqHn) 0.1%. One dollar in a thousand. That is the pattern I have noticed in news stories about corrupt officials accepting bribes to steer inflated contracts: they actually get very little, even when you adjust for the (under-sized) cost. It makes sense; they can't openly solicit bids for who's willing to offer the biggest share, and their partner in crime knows that it isn't costing them anything (since they're selling what isn't theirs). What is interesting is that exactly 87 years ago (May 11, 1939) hitler's secret envoy met for the first time with pius xii. Pius XI, on the other hands, was staunchly opposed to hitler, and made himself unavailable to his envoys...and then the died in 1939..

In my part of Canada, NoFrills has steak for $9.99 Canadian - so about $7 US a pound. Just so you can compare. Posted by: Stateless - He ain't heavy, he's my dog. at May 13, 2026 09:25 AM (Sco7b) 259

Elias responded to the ruling by invoking language from the Virginia Constitution itself. Not to make a legal argument, but to suggest that the current Virginia government has lost its legitimacy and therefore can and should be abolished.
OAN should interview Elias and just point an laugh the entire segment. Posted by: Sponge - F*ck Cancer at May 13, 2026 09:25 AM (Zz0t1) 262
246 "Democrats Now Want to ABOLISH the Virginia Government"
Trump should encourage the Dems to do it. If they actually try, he can send in the Army to protect/restore the present state government, or supervise the establishment of a new state government. Invoking Article IV, Section 4, first clause: "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government" Posted by: Gref Now THAT would be popcorn worthy. Posted by: rickb223 at May 13, 2026 09:21 AM (MwdeY) Then Trump will have all the ringleaders arrested on Federal Insurrection charges. Attempting the overthrow of a State government must be a crime, directly or umbrellaed, by one or more Federal Laws. Your move, Elias. Posted by: Gref at May 13, 2026 09:26 AM (5rh/l) 263

The Sabres scored one of the weirdest goals in hockey history last night. Tage Thompson shot the puck towards the boards, intending for it to go into the corner. Instead, it bounced off the edge of the Zamboni door entrance and took a bizarre carom stright at the net where it then caromed backwards ff the goalie's pads and into the net.
You don't see that every day. Or, ever. Posted by: Delurker at May 13, 2026 09:21 AM (gtcuf) The Capitals lost a game on a goal like that. The other team fired the puck around the boards from outsize the zone and Lindgren (Caps goalie) went out to stop the puck... which hit the 4"x3" camera window in the glass, and bounced thirty feet to the left and straight into the vacated net. I don't know about the wave of the future, but-
It's a delight to ride on Japanese trains. They're well-run, on time, clean, and safe. European trains less so, British rails barf, and American trains, sadly, are only fit for vomitting plague cats. Do I want to give up my car? Nope. However, if I lived in a faro-out suburb and had to drive into town every day, and had a train like the Japanese trains to ride....yeah, I'd do that. Posted by: naturalfake at May 13, 2026 09:11 AM (iJfKG) Socialists don't want you to have a train ride so pleasant you take it voluntarily. They want to humiliate you by forcing you into a filthy and dangerous sewer/cagefight that doesn't go where the upward mobility is. Your impotent resentment would be the proof of their power over you, that makes them feel... good. Posted by: SciVo at May 13, 2026 09:29 AM (Sy6m/) 275
