First World Problems...

We have a twofer today!

Well...I guess it still works...a bit. That's a finishing nail punch that has seen barely 20 years of use. I am offended by the shoddy craftsmanship and substandard metallurgy!

Harrumph!

This isn't really a problem. In fact, I had exactly the correct two sizes of Allen wrench I needed to remove a fixture. Sadly, it was a German engineered and manufactured shower head, so the coupling between the shower head and the water line is impossibly complicated and would need to be cut off. You know..unique attaching systems are always cool! I am sure the engineer who designed it is pleased with himself.

It really is a pleasure having the correct tools, even when the end result is bitter disappointment.

Does anyone need a nice new shower head?

After some poking, prodding and spraying, the riding mower actually turned over, then ran on full. Even though it's Sunday and servile work is proscribed, I mowed the front, back and pens.

Hope the Good Lord understands. It's set to rain in the next couple of days and the lawn was reaching the point where the push mower couldn't get through it.

I just took a rotating tower fan out to my deck to blow out the dust with some compressed air, and when I set it down, a screw fell out and the whole tower just fell off its base! It should be an easy fix (assuming nothing got jostled when the tower fell) but....its just an odd thing to have happen. A screw just....falling out.

IANAP but, if it works on ONE setting, that implies to me that the problem is not with the shower head but, rather, the valve. Shower valves are very complicated because they try to mix the hot and cold water to prevent scalding temperatures.

Ours is bad too. Limestone deposits. There's a chemical concoction called CLR (calcium limestone rust) that dissolves those deposits. I drop our sink faucet screens in a bowl and the deposits foam and dissolve. Same with our show heads.

Rince with clean water to move the solution out of the fixtures.

65 CLR works really well on vintage cars with original “survivor” car paint, and rust. I’ve seen paint jobs that look more rust than paint come out looking amazing. Lots of elbow grease involved but there is apparently a lot of paint lurking under the surface rust. With what paint & prep costs these days this is worth looking into.

The next time I lived somewhere with a local farmers market, the prices were a bit higher than the grocery store, but the produce was fresher.

Nowadays, the prices at our local farmers market is double to quadruple the prices at the grocery store. And I think I figured out why. Our farmers market provides tokens to SNAP recipients that are worth double the cash. So my $20 bill will buy half as much as $20 of SNAP benefits. SNAP shoppers are fine with paying higher prices since their purchasing power is doubled, along with being free in the first place. The venders price according to what the market will bear.

Nowadays, the prices at our local farmers market is double to quadruple the prices at the grocery store. And I think I figured out why. Our farmers market provides tokens to SNAP recipients that are worth double the cash. So my $20 bill will buy half as much as $20 of SNAP benefits. SNAP shoppers are fine with paying higher prices since their purchasing power is doubled, along with being free in the first place. The venders price according to what the market will bear.

Hooterville, Pixley, and Crabwell Corners, were all early adopters of fluoridated water. The Valley had the best dental health in the state. Even the boiler water for the Cannonball in the water tower was fluoridated.

96 In 1983 I helped my FIL tear down a shed. In the dirt beneath it I found a Craftsman hatchet head, which he was happy to let me have. I could've taken it to Sears for a new hatchet, but nah. Too much personality in it, plus I get to tell the story whenever I use it.

There are several who show up here with a trailer stacked with boxed vegetables and fruits. From a warehouse. Bought on the cheap because the stuff's nearly rotten. Close to it.

But they setup a table and claim it's "farmed locally."

This group shows up all over the place during the late spring and summer. Same M.O. Why nobody runs them off is beyond me.
