It’s over for digital animation. This is too good. Guilds and unions will try to void it in Hollywood but it’s over, amazing full length films will be made by amateurs in weeks.

They’ll need a distribution platform. Can anybody set a video to be a rental on YouTube?

11 >>>If AI writes your code, why use Python? (Medium)

This just seems ... scary?

The future of programming won’t be languages easiest for humans. It’ll be languages easiest for agents. We just shipped a Mac app where our engineers didn’t know a single line of Rust (or Tauri) beforehand. Result: ~1/10th the size… highly performant. Agents are the new programmers.

A shipped app, in a language nobody on the team knew, one-tenth the size of the Electron version, faster at runtime. The humans never had to learn Rust to get there.

The next project you start doesn’t have to default to Python.

14 Thanks very much, Pixy, for the musical selection. I had never heard of that group, Sabaton, because I'm an old person. 😉Perhaps some other old people have heard of them , but I have never been a heavy metal person.

I knew something was going to be different when it started out with church bells. I had to look up the lyrics because I couldn't understand them. Very powerful , inspirational message.

Nobody seemed to be around but some folks who were waiting to work at the pharmacy, I think. Then a lady emerged from the back and helped me find a pill splitter When tried to get Advil PM and the other items at the self checkout it said said "age restricted" I told the woman , "I put in my birthdate, but I did something wrong. I can assure you that I am over 18 by quite a bit." She said " Me too" and then helped me at a real register. She was very kind and I appreciated that.

24 Morning, one and all. It's a nice morning so far here in California East.

Yesterday, I had a chat with my mom. She's been getting frustrated as hell at dealing with the VA, USAA and several financial companies in getting the POA acknowledged. USAA wants a selfie for their records, the VA keeps asking for more documentation and the site ID Me is not working for her and she can't stay on the phone long enough to deal with this because she still has to keep an eye on dad.

I finally asked if she could get a helper from their community to watch dad so she could handle all of this without distraction. "Yes, but it costs money."

"Isn't this covered under your contract?"

There was an annoyed pause and she said it was so she has to get a lawyer friend to have a chat with the people running the place.

TL/DR; Getting old sucks.

27 Evening and morning, folken,

The week has begun with a disturbance in the Farce. My Braun coffeemaker has failed. It gets power, but simply does not brew. I think it failed yesterday morning; I'd brewed my usual five cups, drunk two, and went to work out. When I poured a new cup about an hour later, the machine was off and the coffee was cold. I thought I'd forgotten to hit the "Auto Off" button, which keeps the stuff warm for up to four hours. Guess not.

Nobody repairs these small appliances any more, and the machine is well out of warranty. So I guess I'm going shopping this morning. I've had a few swallows of coffee to keep me going, though.

So howz yer day so far?

That's more than a little annoying to me. There is a market for this but most small appliances are built with a short lifespan in mind.

I certainly can't find anybody near me with a 'Net search. My first Braun machine, a fairly simple one, I bought in late 1986; it performed without issue until '99. There was a tech shop in Denver which repaired its leak, and it went back into service until about '02 or '03. No shops here in Da Swamp, so I've had a succession of machines, each lasting about four years, since.

I want one with the brew pause, so you can pour a cup during the brewing, and with a keep-warm feature. Target has one for about $80. (Grrrr.)

I've got a Keuring K-Cup maker here that isn't being used.
Dad drank coffee, but I don't.
So I got him the maker after Mom died because he said he didn't need a full pot without her drinking out of it and he just wanted to use K-Cups.

The thing was only used a few months before he quit drinking coffee totally and now it's just sitting there (along with almost an entire case of McDonald's brand Decaf K-Cups) and hasn't been turned on in a year or more.

I've tried giving it away to people who drink coffee but nobody can be bothered to take a free, barely-used, coffee maker with extra water filters and a cleaning kit.

I'd be interested -- except I don't want to get into the K-Cup business. I buy my Cafe El Morro ground coffee at Aldi, $3.65 for 8.8 oz. Those K-Cup packages are $$. I brew about five cups a morning, drink three or four small cups, and pour the rest into a mug in the fridge for a quick swallow or two when I get up.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at May 12, 2026 06:27 AM (wzUl9)

46 That scan, which analyzed curl’s git repository at a recent master-branch commit, was sent back to him earlier this month, and it found just five things that it claimed were “confirmed security vulnerabilities” in cURL. Saying he had expected an extensive list of vulnerabilities, Stenberg wrote that the report “felt like nothing,” and that feeling was further validated by a review of Mythos’ findings.

So the guy wrote a program with almost zero vulnerabilities and he's disappointed that the AI didn't find more and therefore it's all a 'marketing stunt'?

If it was me, I'd be celebrating that I write such clean code that there was no way to hack it, meaning I'm good, damn good, at my job.

Yet this guy acts like his balloon was just popped.

During the last few days i had listened to / watched videos that retold the story of the Battle of Cowpens (1781). The shattering of Banastre Tarleton's loyalist force by the patriots led by Daniel Morgan set in motion events that led to Cornwallis surrendering at Yorktown by October.
Now, I mostly listen to such fare as I do something else. Here, as far as things go, these videos did a decent job sticking to the facts as we know them today (with conversations among participants being free to take more liberty with the truth -- after all, such were neither recorded nor related by participants.
On the visual side, however, they were vomitous masses. Depictions of long lines of combatants stretching clear out to the horizon, way out of line with the actual numbers known (around 1,000 with Morgan and 1,650 with Tarleton). Every combatant uniformly decked out in stereotypical gear associated with their cause. And on it went. Visual vomit delivered up as cookie cutter scenes by AI. Complete crap, lazy and deliberately misleading.

It is not that women are more replaceable, but that they have chosen jobs that are more replaceable. The same DEI race and sex discrimination against straight white men extended from hiring to mentoring, promotions, and of course choice of plum assignments.

That last is subjective, and in the interest of "having it all" (which cultural messages say women "should"), they stereotypically have a strong interest in jobs with a good "work/life balance". Those jobs have predictable hours and low stress, which go along with keyboard jobs doing rote processes without profit/loss responsibility -- perfect for AI automation.

The specific kinds of full-time jobs that are sometimes sarcastically called "corporate adult daycare" are mostly held by women, and are exactly those most susceptible to be turned into someone else's brief review and approval task.

Me? I search patents for some intellectual stimulation and pin money. I know clients can go to some Indian firm for much less, so I make sure that my skills of 35+ years can make it worthwhile to have me doing it instead.

76 69 A Jewish PA Supreme Court justice left the Democrat Party because of their Nazism.

They still hold four of seven seats, and he'll continue voting in lockstep with them, so it's a pure virtue signal, and not even a convincing one. I award him 0 points.

I give him one point for "permission structure". It is a change for a leftist to virtue-signal *against* The Party, and as herd creatures, it gives others permission to think of leaving it too.

Hearing her in interviews about what led to her butchering herself got me thinking that demonic influence is more real than we think.

I know some guys that have been running a business based on computer searching the patent databases for possible infringements for the last 10 years or so. I should ask them what they think about AI invading their turf.

I have no doubt. It is a grotesque rejection of God's creation, and in fact has caused me to reconsider my old "live and let live" tolerance of homosexuality. I now lean more to the traditional condemnation of it as a form of rebellion against God's plan -- not that I would go around making a big deal out of it, just as I hold my tongue around oath-breaking adulterers.

If no one asked my opinion, it's probably not relevant or useful. But my silent condemnation is fierce.
