73 I think the artist was more interested in painting the yellow satin over-jacket the first woman is wearing than in painting the subjects themselves. It's a little over-worked compared to the effort he put into the rest of the painting, like he was fascinated with the play of light and texture. He does know his way around textiles; landscapes, not so much.

State officials now plan to return to congressional maps originally approved by the Legislature in 2023, along with state Senate maps drawn in 2021.

If you recall this was actually all decided almost 2 years ago when Texas was told that you cannot make a minority majority by adding up 28% Blacks and 27% Hispanic.

This has all been slow-walked by Kagan and the Wise Latina so that it did NOT go into effect for the 26 Midterms.

221 The Davicos (Portrait of the Davico Sisters), before 1934
Donald M. Mattison

I like this painting a great deal though I would probably wouldn't hang it.

The painting is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum, a gift of Georgia Mattison Coxe. Also learned, 'The Davicos (Portrait of the Davico Sisters),' painted by American artist Donald M. Mattison before 1934, was created in the United States though the sisters were Italian. (AI Overview, in part, and Smithsonian a reference.)

Wikipedia does have a nice bio for this painter, Donald Mattison, and he seems to have been so ideally 'normal' and hardworking, painting "life's pleasanter moments": beautiful landscapes, community celebrations, and the innocent pastimes of children, among other accomplishments such as teaching.

Thanks.
