Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Reform Gains Over 1,300 Seats as Labour Loses Nearly 1,200And there's still damage to come -- just 117 of the 136 councils have reported so far. These are council (local) elections, not the general elections for Parliament (the national legislature), which do not have to be scheduled before 2029. But council members do have power locally -- and these elections are a mighty harbinger of what will come.![]() Politics UKThe SNP kept control in Scotland, with Reform gaining zero seats, because Scotland is a mess and not worth thinking about. Their Muslim First Minister Hamzi Yusef hates the actual Scottish people and gives fiery speeches denouncing the Scots. Keir Starmer, noted for his outreach to gay Ukrainian male model prostitutes -- just offering them a bad for the night, that kind of charity -- says that he's not stepping aside... sort of. What he actually said was that he would not walk away and "leave the party in disorder," which means, I'm pretty sure, that as soon as the party agrees on a successor, he will step down. He just doesn't want a big fight for control. Astute post from Maxi@AllForProgress on X. Applies to the US too. "There are the usual notes on procedure. People like my parents, Britain's ultimate swing voter category, were buried with doorknockers, and their earnest heartfelt pleas, in the final few weeks of campaigning. An avalanche of appeals after five years of having not a single party representative knocking on their doors, inquiring after them, or following up on their concerns. There is still no party on the slate that understands that such elections as these are won between campaigns, through diligent attention to voters and relentless follow-up, not with three weeks to go. This, to my mind, is the single greatest predictor of governmental success, and it's a test that none of the current bottle are passing. Whatever; the cumulative picture is the one we've watched forming for some time. Britain is shopping, rotating through every available political product, trying them on for size, and finding them generally wanting. The political market is wide open. The next general election will reward whoever spends the intervening period building something vast, intense, and serious. . ." Posted by: whigWhile the cowardly chattering classes acknowledge the catastrophe, they refuse to address the reasons for it. They resort to gauzy evasions like "The public just wanted a change." A change from what, exactly? Or "the public has lost faith in the traditional major parties." But why has the public lost faith, exactly? Or they'll claim that Keir Starmer just isn't charismatic. Yes, correct, he's a gray dullard who looks like he'd lose a naked wrestling match to Anderson Cooper*, but... couldn't there be other, more tangible reasons the public has made the longtime former Two Major Establishment Parties of the UK minor parties? What reasons might explain that, do you think? Say -- what was Reform's One Single Endlessly Repeated Campaign Promise, anyway? Maybe that could provide a clue to this Mystery. Even as the establishment faces a reckoning a long time coming, they still pretend away the reason for that reckoning.
Australia: We can't deport this rapist because he's "too mentally retarded" to deport and he would lose access to Australian welfare services and he needs those!

Now well over 1300 seat gain for REF, LAB down almost 1200, CON down close to 500. Greens only pick up 285 so far with just nineteen councils left, they will underperform due to a bad vote distribution despite being second in the overall national vote haul.
REF wins have tracked with the Brexit 2016 vote, hence their massive swings and hauls in the Old Labour hinterlands up north while doing so-so down south outside of decimating the Tories in their rural strongholds. LAB is done up north, and Andy Burnham had better find a safe seat in London to run in if he wants to be PM for a while, because running in any seat from Liverpool over to Manchester, Birmingham, and all the way over to the erstwhile Labour stronghold of Sunderland is a dicey proposition at best. After Greta's flotilla cleans up the oil in Persia, she should protect the UK from the small boat invaders. I read she had a boyfriend so there's sex involved now, which is about as hideous to think about as Ace's nekkid wrestling of Starmer and Anderson Cooper.
I have found it hard to believe, for over a decade, why the Brit men, on their own, don't pretend to be fishermen and shoot darts into the rafts and let the vermin drown. You know they can't swim as I see them with their life vests. If they float then run over them with your speed boat. In other interesting news. So many people have wondered why Utah of all places is getting a Democrat seat this fall from their current 4-0 Republican majority. The answer is the judges. The utah legislature has been kicking and screaming trying to prevent this, but the courts literally redistricted Utah using a map drawn up by a Democrat NGO out of Virginia. I'm not aware of any other state in the union that has had their maps drawn up, literally, by a NGO from a totally different state. Even the Voters Rights act had DC government agencies....
In any event, it was upheld by the Utah Supreme Court. Now the judge who wrote the decision is resigning, effective immediately. Why? To "spend time with her family" after the state started investigating her affair with the Democrat lead attorney in the redistricting case. I wish I was making this up. I'm not sorry to see her go; I argued multiple times in front of her and was never all that impressed, though she isn't an idiot like Jackson Brown. So yes, Utah has a gerrymandered to the hilt Democrat seat, courtesy 100% of lawfare from Democrats. That won't last. I'm not sure Democrats will even win the election this fall. The problem (for Labour) is, no one looks like a ready-made successor to Starmer.
The potential replacements, like Rayner and Burnham, have major problems of their own, and the party is hemorraging support to Reform on the one side and the Greens (and Muslim independents) on the other. Starmer may continue as PM for a while, not just because of his own addiction to power (though that is a major factor) but because the party has no obvious alternative. Without deportation reform will also fail. Britain has had enough. 100% fed up.
Deport each and every refuge...now. Don't care about the cost, don't care about the humanity, deport today, deport tomorrow, deport for the forceable future. All of them. Every last one that isn't a native-born citizen. Look, 20 years ago there could be some reasonable accommodations. Exceptions. But they abused every exception, ignored every chance at compromise. Stop the boats? Easy - pick them up, drive them to fucking Heathrow airport, and stick them on the next plane to wherever they came from. If they burn their documents, stick them in detention until they tell you where they are from. The boats will stop tomorrow - you just changed the risk/reward. Overall, just stop fucking about. Look at Trump - he's deported 500,000, and another 2.5 million left voluntarily. Britian could send a couple hundred thousand home, and a couple of million would just leave on their own. And look, who should you send home? Easy - start with every single immigrant on any sort of public assistance. Posted by: The Whine Guy at May 08, 2026 03:09 PM (954tc) 81
1. Given the parliamentary system, is Reform likely to be in the saddle based on this showing?
2. Is Reform more likely to live up to its word than the Tories (who certainly did not)? Posted by: bear with asymmetrical balls at May 08, 2026 03:04 PM (oIVsY) If the polls are right (I said *if*, TJM), Reform would have a plurality but not a majority in Parliament if the election occurred today, making a coalition with the Tories necessary. As for the second part, my answer would be yes; but that's such a low bar to clear it doesn't mean much in reality. Posted by: Dr. T at May 08, 2026 03:09 PM (NxtrT) 82

------------------------------- We are living through a fake revolt and a real revolt. The fake one is the rallying of student towns, leafy suburbs and digital radicals around the Green Party. Some of these Zack Polanski enthusiasts might have multi-coloured hair and pose for selfies at Marx’s grave in Highgate, but don’t be fooled: they are lining up behind the entirely reactionary cause of identity politics, no more growth, dicks in women’s bathrooms and Islamist grievance. The true revolt is coming from the working classes, who want Britain’s borders repaired, our history respected and democracy to have meaning. Pick your side: the matcha Marxism of a keffyeh-smothered activist class that doesn’t know what a woman is, or the patient but unflinching plea for a restoration of normalcy being made by the men and women of the Red Wall. 16 What was Reforms endlessly repeated campaign promise? I hadn't been following. I know a little more about the "Restore " party than about "Reform". Although I know Rupert Lowe pulled out of the Reform Party.
Posted by: FenelonSpoke ======= Reform aimed at maximizing votes by wanting less taxes, end of Net Zero stupidity, less spending, less immigration. Restore came about because Farange tried to put Lowe in the frame for criminal charges and expelled Lowe from the party for being anti immigrant. Lowe ended up keeping his seat in Parliament and founded Restore around his MP constituency in Greater Yarmouth. Now, Restore focused all its efforts on that council and came out gangbusters winning all the challenged seats by whopping big majorities. Lowe figured developing a new party without carefully screening the candidates and moving slowly to actually achieving something was better than running as the alternative to the big parties. Reform is a coalitional party with a lot of upsides and downsides and now has to show it can govern the local councils that it took over. So we shall see. What is clear is that the Tories and Labour have seen their best days in the past. Posted by: whig at May 08, 2026 03:22 PM (E4rtv) 161

What matters is accomplishment. Look at Canada - an extremely moderate left wing government is doing very well without running to the progressive wing. It's not working for Labor because Starmer isn't just moderate, he's useless.
It isn't just Labour. The Tories are also taking a hit. The Little Englanders' unhappiness with Brexit is that they don't think that they have had enough Brexit. Hence the shift from the Tories to Reform. UK is less cynical than America. There is a want for a hopeful future in the UK. Labour haven't presented a vision for it. They are running around chasing votes with no higher plan. People are voting Green and Reform because they have strong visions of future Britain. Both parties know exactly what they want. The lesson that Progressives and Leftists keep trying to convince Moderate and Conservative Democrats who want to run to the Center-Right to appeal to "non-Trump" Republicans. They'll either hesitantly still vote Far-Right or just sit out. The lesson should be "Don't import millions of Muslim immigrants when you don't have enough housing for them". Posted by: Guy Mohawk Farange aimed for power first with Reform rather than ideological consistency with his candidates. My guess is that he did it to take over the Conservative party in a forced merger. -99% of law schools Posted by: TheJamesMadison ======== Which is ultimately why all accrediting agencies are going to have to be killed off. The law schools moved left in part due to DEI, in part, due to universities serving as a giant sorting hat kicking the right to the curb. So less qualified applicants from the Right and even those are selected more for being a survivor of culture wars at uni than ideological warriors. So the left has come to dominate law schools ideologically as well. The old time liberals gave way to the leftists that are at heart Gramcians. Posted by: whig at May 08, 2026 03:35 PM (E4rtv) 240

A bit premature to be making these pronouncements. Posted by: Heroq at May 08, 2026 02:58 PM (JRUvI) ******************************************* Not necessarily. The council elections are all the English public has to weigh in on between a Parliamentary GE, so it's a useful barometer of where the public is at. About 25% of the country's population votes in a given year, otherwise, REF could easily be winning 5000 local seats instead of just 1300+ (probably closer to 1400-1500 when the last returns come in, fourteen councils to go). The extrapolated national vote from the Beeb is 26% REF, 18% GRN, 17% each for LAB and CON, and the LDs at 16%. But whig many (most?) of the horrendously pernicious "rulings" in US history came not from the the DEI freaks, idiots, and foreigners now on the bench, but from conventional mainstream freaks and idiots (when it comes to their actual duties).
Don't know the state of play on denaturalizations, so can't say, but my impression (ready to be corrected) is that lower courts continue to ignore not just the law (including laws excluding them from jurisdiction - which has to be a new low in judicial lawlessness) but in many cases their superiors in the judiciary. It's systemic rot, it's not new, it's just even more pernicious than ever due to an executive actually fulfilling their duties and enforcing laws. At least so it seems. Results are all that matter, I'm not terribly confident the results will be anywhere close to what they should be or won't be erased in a nano-second by the next racist-totalitarian administration, but will gladly take whatever squeaks through for now. Vote of no confidence because Starmer just won't leave, backbenchers hate him, and the CP decides to do it just to fuck with Labour? Well, that's a whole 'nother ball game.

Lot's of rational thinking going on here, leading to speculation of the future. However, remember the calling sign of the Left:
"You're wrong. We're right. You must be punished for your insolence." _________________________ What this means is that they will double down on their foibles. They will blame those opposed to them. AND, they will punish those who oppose their position(s). Political office holders are one thing. Ingrained and deep-seated bureacrats, Judges, and ministry office holders will release the hounds. Off topic, but I looked this up for last thread so I'll post it. California has a lot of natural oil seeps, that is oil into the ocean. They estimate it accounts for ~120,000 barrels a day, or 5,000,000 gallons per day. There is one site that seeps ~ 150 BLD, and has been active for 500,000 years. My boss at one time tried to get it under control. He is a brilliant engineer but he failed just like everyone else. Just a bit of info for reference. https://tinyurl.com/mr45jtxt Posted by: javems at May 08, 2026 03:38 PM (zFsEm) Doesn't help that about every two years the local TV news on the Central CA coast would start caterwauling about tar balls on the beaches, screaming that the Evil Oil Companies were dumping oil in the ocean. Apparently, to be dicks. Then a few weeks later they'd issue a quiet correction at the end of the 11:00pm evening news "Oh, those tar balls have always been there. They're natural, and the Chumash tribes would use the tar to waterproof their canoes. Our bad." I remember at least three cycles if not more of this bullshit from the 20 years I lived there. Posted by: GF at May 08, 2026 03:59 PM (iVUs+) ______________________ You'll laugh at my reasoning for why this is happening. Puppies...doggos. Muslims were complaining that they didn't feel safe visiting or living in northern UK because many of the current residents have dogs that don't require a leash. They're pets and farm dogs. So, the local municipalities started trying to push restrictions on pet ownership and leash laws on personal property. Don't mess with a Brits dog. Additionally, they held events to entice Muslims into that area, and they left the area covered in trash and filth. That resonated with the generational occupants.
