Wow, two days in a row that I'm actually starting off with some good news. President Trump proved to be a kingmaker in the Indiana and Ohio Republican primaries Tuesday night, where his seal of approval propelled several GOP candidates to landslide victories. In Indiana, Trump’s revenge campaign against incumbent state senators who torpedoed his push last year to redraw the Hoosier state’s congressional boundaries was largely successful – with the president’s preferred candidates winning five of six contests. A potential sixth victory for a Trump-endorsed candidate was still too close to call late Tuesday. While this is certainly good news for both the President and the people of Indiana and Ohio, both of those states' Republican parties, have done precious little if anything to move the MAGA agenda forward. As CBD and I noted in the most recent episode of the podcast, Linked here, in the sidebar and on the usual popular platforms listed at the bottom of this post. the SAVE Act is stalled in Congress and in all likelihood will probably lay moribund if not flatline altogether before long. This because of a feckless/useless or worse collaborationist GOP, not singling out IN and OH in particular but the Grifting Oleaginous Parasites as a whole. Establishment Republicans have for more than a month stalled their half-hearted effort to keep their focus on the bill in hopes of convincing enough Democrats to vote for it. Of course, it’s hard to make liberals defend their unpopular stance if you don’t make them defend their unpopular stance. The Federalist reached out to Thune’s office on Monday. No answer on the status of the SAVE America act, which would amend the flawed National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote and photo identification to cast a ballot in a federal election. Majority Republicans could push for an end to the bill-killing filibuster to pass the legislation. Several senators and President Donald Trump have urged Senate leadership to do just that. But they won’t, apparently trusting that Democrats wouldn’t do the same when they control the upper House again. Adding insult to injury, SCOTUS handed the GOP a once in a multiple-lifetime opportunity to kneecap the Democrats and really help put America back on the track to sanity after decades of Leftist destruction. . . . there is the landmark redistricting case that the U.S. Supreme Court just decided this week. In Louisiana v. Callais, the court held that Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which prohibits states and localities from imposing any voting “qualification or prerequisite” that “results in a denial or abridgement of the right of any citizen … to vote on account of race or color,” cannot be invoked to create race-conscious congressional maps — a dubious practice lawmakers had been blithely engaging in for decades. The court correctly held that such race-conscious mapmaking, including the devising of so-called majority-minority districts across many Southern states, runs afoul of the 14th Amendment’s sweeping equal protection guarantee. Now I'll single out Ohio insofar as Governor DeSwine and the state GOP have not done a damn thing to take advantage of the ruling as for example Florida and Texas. And that goes for all the other Republican states that have done nothing to reverse the Democrats' abuse of the VRA that artificially gives them the advantage in the House. Meh, we've been pissing and moaning about the GOP for years, and for the past three national election cycles, for the first time in my life (Ronald Reagan notwithstanding) with Donald Trump at long last we had a candidate that we actually wanted to vote FOR, as opposed to merely showing up to vote Against a Democrat knowing full well that whether Bush, McCain or Romney that they would do nothing to halt let alone reverse the trajectory off the cliff that America has been on for decades. As both CBD and I pondered, is someone like the youthful and driven Nick Shirley merely a one-off or is he reflective of a broader wave of disaffection of the younger generations at the Democrat/leftist/globalist enterprise that is making their future and the future of the nation one of misery and limited possibilities. Of course the academia/media/cultural propaganda complex will cast the blame on Trump, conservatives and America as founded and far too many Americans have been brainwashed into believing it. Somehow despite all that, Trump and the MAGA message broke through and in spite of the pushback, and some setbacks, it is succeeding and has gained a foothold on the road back from the long march through the institutions that have turned the American experiment on its head. Of course Trump cannot restore America on his own and not in just two terms. the road back like the road to hell that got us here will be a generational journey. Only time will tell if we and our progeny can stay the course for the long haul. And to continue and conclude with the positive vibes: The United States overtook Saudi Arabia to become the world’s largest exporter of crude oil over the past nine weeks, as Iran’s attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz choked off Middle Eastern oil shipments. Bloomberg News reported Sunday that the United States shipped more than 250 million barrels of crude oil from its wells and storage tanks to overseas buyers over the past nine weeks, becoming a “lifeline for global consumers.” In the immortal words of J.D. Clampett WELL DOGGIES!!!! Have a good day!

Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. 62 overcast degrees here at Stately Poppins Manor.
I got back last night from my trip to Alexandria to get a new pup, an 8-month old rescue American Eskimo called Luna. She was a stray who came from a kill shelter (and those two words both anger me and rip my heart to pieces). Her foster mother told me she hates men - and she did bark and growl when she saw me - but once I showed her my own Odessa, she suddenly turned on a dime, jumping up and licking my face. She's a very kissy dog now and Odessa is sulking. I think Luna is making sure this is her forever home and Odessa wonders why the new girl is getting love, but I expect they will both settle down soon. In any event, I am happy for at least today. It didn't take a crystal ball to know SAVE was DOA. The GOP is generally hostile toward the Trump agenda and Stonewalls (capitalization intended) just about everything he wants.
But there are certain things that they will fall on their swords rather than give him an inch on. And vote fraud is one of them. Vote fraud is going to be more important than ever now, and their bosses across the aisle demanded they do their duty for the ruling class. He passed an "emergency EO" the other day. It would (potentially) reduce the tax on gas by 10 cents a gallon. The state AG has to sign off on it. It also freezes the gas tax as a July 1 increase was set to take affect. Another thing in his EO was a freeze on the vehicle assessment increase set to go into effect later this year as well. Testifying last week before a Senate committee, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin told lawmakers that the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a $27 billion stash that was created through the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, is a con. His office found that money that was supposed to have some environmental benefit has been funneled “to former Obama and Biden officials” as well as Democratic donors
“The conflicts of interest that we saw … the amount of self-dealing, the unqualified recipients … (the) Climate United Fund CEO was a special assistant in the Office of Management and Budget during the Obama-Biden administration … they received $6.9 billion,” said Zeldin, who, as a rational skeptic of the climate narrative, is finally the right man for the job. He also told the committee that a Biden-Harris climate adviser served on the board of the Coalition for Green Capital, joining in 2023 while the organization was applying for federal funds. He reported, as well, that the Power Forward Communities chief executive ran Fannie Mae during the Obama-Biden administration. Referencing the links under the 2020/2022 election heists we see every day, along with countless information coming out on ineligible voters/dead voters/unpurged voter rolls, etc., there is no question in my mind that Democrats have cheated their way into 100s of election wins. It's been going on for a long time, and all of us here have known it. But even I underestimated just how dirty our elections have become. Integrity in how we elect those that govern us is seemingly all but gone in so many places. I wish very bad things for those who have cheated the system for so long. We can only speculate what America would really be like if we had clean elections.

Going through the spread sheet on Dutch's (BISS BIS-OH GCHG Soyara's The Flying Dutchman NOHS-S) show career as a special. It was a good deal shorter than either Lacey's or Delilah's, only 138 shows, and without the laurels the other two earned. Politics has always been a nasty biz.
Even here in my little podunk, rural town the election for town mayor has turned into a mud slinging crapfest. The sitting mayor, a portly woman full of herself is under fire from a number of rivals. Including a "stronk black woman" who's our version of Jazzy Crockett. She'd be a disaster. A former police chief is also in the running. He had the state's first Narcan "vending machine" installed. The "success" of Trump-backed IN state senate candidates is overblown. Yes, many Trump-backed candidates won. Bht Republican primary participation was shit DESPITE the millions of dollars spent by Trump & Co. Meanwhile, ~47% of all primary voters decided to vote in the Democratic primary. That's a HUGE improvement over 2024 (30%) and 2022 (34%). It's a pretty promising signal that Hoosiers are starting to ditch Republicans.
Has there ever been this much attention paid to state senate primary elections in Indiana? It’s ridiculous that people are making a big deal out of this. The fact that the state senate decided to not redistrict and Trump put so much emphasis on how evil they were. So it is an indicator of how much of Indiana follows Trump vs the party. So far, Trump loyalists have won...although idk if that is surprising. Dem primary voter participation was very strong. Much stronger than has been the norm. Some of these Trump-backed IN State Senate nominees are going to lose to Dems in November. A couple of these seats are already swingy anyway. As I understand it, and it may be incorrect, gas stations set price on what they expect to pay to re-fill their underground tanks, not what they paid for the gas delivery that went into the tanks.

https://calculator.academy/oil-to-gas-price-calculator/
This is a good link to calculating gas prices. Put in price of oil per barrel, add $1.45 for refining/shipping/marketing costs, and that is what the theoretical price per gallon should be. For example $50 per barrel gives a gas price of $2.64, $100 per barrel results in $3.88 Inevitably prices above those come from extra state and local taxes and fees that are added on. In California especially, those can be 50% of the price at the pump. Posted by: Tom Servo at May 06, 2026 08:40 AM (6w0jO) Posted by: NaCly Dog at May 06, 2026 08:40 AM (u82oZ) 194

Washed Eggs keep for months in the fridge. What happens, is they dry out.
Old timers and prospectors used to coat them in vaseline to prevent this. Drop eggs in cold water. If they sink they are OK. if they stand up on one end, they are getting there. If they float, throw ‘em out. Sunflower pollen, as chickens eat bugs, etc, really make the yolks pop. [Per Brave "AI:"] "You should not wash fresh chicken eggs before storage because washing removes the egg's natural protective coating, known as the "bloom" or "cuticle." This microscopic layer seals the thousands of tiny pores in the shell, preventing bacteria and air from entering the egg while allowing it to breathe. In the eight months since he launched his Senate campaign, Graham Platner has risen from populist outsider with a Nazi tattoo to presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party. Last week he edged out Janet Mills, Maine’s sitting governor, from the Senate primary. And he took a victory lap over the weekend when he spoke to delegates of the state party he just conquered.
Typically, a convention speech is a chance to tack toward the center and rally the party around its most popular ideals. Instead, Platner leaned into the hardened class warfare that powered his rise. ~~ Free Press =================== Democrats are communists. We knew that was possible but I bet the Clinton-types are shocked. El Commandante Zero won over the party and the AOC types are the inheritors. I was at the grocery check out yesterday. $145. This included a variety of products; produce, meats, eggs, and a few non-food items. I'll just say this; an awful lot of the produce is coming from outside the US and it's one of the reasons a bag of lettuce is expensive (to me.)
I thought Trump was bringing back to the US more than "just" manufacturing. Why are we still outsourcing our produce to Central and South America? 287 JJ, if you are hoping for Liz Brown, the "endorsed" candidate to win, I hope you are wrong. She is not a conservative. We are hoping for Vogt to pull it out. Brown poured a ton of money into that campaign.

From Deadline...
More than 50 members of anti-Putin activist group Pussy Riot stormed the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition on Wednesday in their first-ever joint protest with Ukrainian feminist group FEMEN. The action comes amid a backlash against a decision by the Venice Biennale – which also oversees the Venice Film Festival in September – to allow Russia to host a pavilion as the country continues to wage war against Ukraine. A press statement released on behalf of Pussy Riot and FEMEN, said the protestors had performed their “Disobey” song, with FEMEN members stepping forward with blue and yellow smoke, Ukrainian flags, and chants. Yeah, I know no one here gives a crap, but the idea of Pussy Riot just gives me the encouragement I need to focus. What I've seen of those who won last night in IN, they are all local businessmen types.
They are not "up through the machine" candidates. So that's good. The only caveat is, the GOP doesn't have much of a machine anyway (until you win office, that is; then they try to recruit the winners to Team RINO). But, they do outsource it to the Chamber of Commerce. I suspect, though, the CoC endorsed all the incumbents. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at May 06, 2026 09:22 AM (MtSIY) 326

Posted by: All Hail Eris, She-Wolf of the 'Ettes 'Ettes. at May 06, 2026 *** Miss Linda is on her phone every thirty seconds, and the algorithm knows she likes cat stories. Today there's one about a shorthaired black cat, quite handsome, who was returned to his shelter after one month. The story declares he was "heartbroken and confused." I'll agree to the second, but not the first; he wasn't there long enough to form any attachments. The story has no details about *why* the "people" decided to return him. zerohedge....I know...this Iran crap may go on forever...Oh wells will be shutting down soon. That'll help.
Axios reports that the White House is nearing a preliminary deal with Iran to end the war, as Trump post appears to offer olive branch. White House says it expects a response to the latest offer within 48 hours. Iran's initial response via media & national security spox: US demands are unrealistic & do not reflect reality, & Axios report based on too much 'speculation'. A key caveat of the US offered deal is that Iran would commit to a moratorium on uranium enrichment, & Washington wants a 20-year ban on this. Murphy Oil (for whom I used to work, several corporate steps removed) supplies the gas for the Walmart stations. Around here the WM stations are .10/gal. cheaper than convenience store stations, and about .15 cheaper than the majors like Exxon and Shell.
