Baby Jerks Cafe

bewareofattackdog.jpg

Cow on vacation.

A dream for Duncanthrax. More fear.

Neat mountain ledge.

Baby goats dancing to the Ghana Funeral Dance music.

Baby hedgehogs.

Rescue tiger loves his red ball.

Roar.

I would not make it. Not because of the snakes, just because I don't want to look like a Stilt-Nerd.

Dog wants to play fetch on a train.

This is like herding cats.

Fortunately, they're non-venomous, non-threatening, and pretty docile.

From Mark Twain,
"Our negroes in America have several ways of entertaining themselves which are not found among the whites anywhere. Among these inventions of theirs is one which is particularly popular with them. It is a competition in elegant deportment. They hire a hall and bank the spectators' seats in rising tiers along the two sides, leaving all the middle stretch of the floor free. A cake is provided as a prize for the winner in the competition, and a bench of experts in deportment is appointed to award it."

At any rate, those high resolution photos allowed some people to put together some cool stuff like this:

https://is.gd/dbahVk

That is a series of the images taken a little while after TLI, one of which was released early. It's the nigh side of earth, illuminated by moonlight, with the ISO turned crazy high. That's a little over 1 minute of images, and you can see the earth getting smaller as Orion sped away.

But the cool thing is you can see little firefly sparkles all around. That is sunlight reflecting off the cloud of satellites in orbit. Flickering aurorae at both poles is visible, and also they claim lightning flashes are evident as well.

The funny thing is one of the stupid complaints of the "space is fake" people and flat-earthers is "Where are the satellites" in the photos and videos from orbit. This is like asking "where are all the people?" in a ground photo of a city taken from an airplane at altitude.

Well, if some of those people were all holding mirrors and just the right angle to reflect sunlight back to the plane, you'd see little pinpoints of light. Which is what was happening there.

So, turns out you can see some of the satellites....

There’s a famous comparison of American Badgers vs European badgers you can find on the net. The European Badger looks like he’s about to invite you in to his tidy little house for tea.
The American Badger looks like he’s going to hide in a dark alley and shank you for money to support his meth habit.

188 Yes, there are, but we call them porcupines and they are formidable. I've pulled spines out of my dog's face on several occasions. They're mostly docile but they get chippy once in a while.

That is the new money neighborhood where Roswell merges into Alpharetta where without signs, one pretty much looks like the other. The old money is in Buckhead around the Governor's Mansion area and north of the I75-I85 union.

Me, I live further out for a reason. I hate driving in traffic and it gets much worse the closer you get to I-285.

260 One of the many reasons why I enjoy the American South so much is that race relations, in spite of Obama's destruction, are still much better than in the Northeast.

In the South "race relations" are more honest than in the almost entirely blackless Northeast. So easy for the liberals up there.

I agree but that means staying in the tourist areas. That part is a cleaner and nicer New Orleans vibe without the excess of Bourbon Street. I used to go to the Citadel for conferences and the area around it is a dump.

Downtown Alpharetta is a very quaint area despite being small. Marietta has a larger version of it as does the old Milton County seat in Roswell.

Cartersville and Acworth are downtown strips along the RR tracks where they have their restaurant and entertainment area.

Alpharetta is not a bad place to live in Georgia though unless you have to commute downtown. I live well west of Atlanta and I find it easier to navigate than when I lived in Athens, GA. East side of ATL beltway and the northern portion of 285 is a nightmare. GA 400 is getting ready to be so with the lane expansion like on I75. Huge project to add express lanes to it up to Forsyth County (Cumming).

Yep. It is a bit of a tourist trap, but then again, National Park Service is now charging admission at a lot of parks including Kennesaw Mountain. You can actually drive up Kennesaw Mountain for a fine view all around on weekdays. Weekends you have to take the tourist bus but far cheaper than Stone Mountain for parking and admission.

That is true but in fact, the planters that ran Southern politics actually had problems in the Upper South passing secession. Then Lincoln was stupid enough to demand Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, etc. provide militia to put down their seceding seven Southern states. That ended the debate as the four upper Southern states joined the lower seven.

As someone who has spent a lot of time for a particular research project on constitutional development in the US among the states, reading the secession convention notes is pretty sobering how careless both the North and South were at provoking a stupid crisis over secession. Both sides thought the war would be over in months.

And the American Civil War was a perfect example of what happens when you kick the can over cheap labor access down the road. No different than Northern sanctuary cities harboring illegal aliens nowadays and using the same tired refrain of massive resistance to the federal government.
