Soon after his arrival, he was granted TPS because of the civil war back home. Eventually learned English and became a US citizen in 2006. His is a sympathetic case from a bygone era when most of America thought we could look the other way at such things given the overall prosperous state of things. But we are not now in that era. Our national debt is now over 1,000% higher than it was when Evelio first arrived. Illegal immigration has swelled over 300%. Whole industries have replaced the American-born family man with illegal aliens. The amount of school children who only speak Spanish has doubled since 1990. The median age of a first time home buyer in 1990 was 28-30, while today it is 41. It was twice as likely a 30-year old man would be married with children in 1990 compared to now. Barely 2% of West Virginia is Hispanic. Barely 1% of the state speaks Spanish. This is a purely political appointment by a woke pope trying to shoehorn his open borders agenda into a state Trump has won by 40 points three times. There's nothing prophetic here, but it's all shamefully political. An open borders agenda the pope himself isn't forced to abide by, because Vatican City has strict enforcement policies and walls. This is like if MSNBC picked offices in the church, all the while never allowing the illegals in Martha's Vineyard where their primetime hosts spend their summers.

I really don't think the Pope's heavyhanded approach to politics is actually going to push the laity back to the left.
Hell, I attend church in the Diocese of Charlotte under Bishop Michael Martin, center of a series of big-ish blowups around the Latin mass.
No one cares. The priests never talk about it. The priests are all shockingly based (young guys less than a decade out of seminary, the African one in particular is based, who all take the mass much more seriously than the older ones they replaced) who stay away from politics and focus on the individual soul's obligations to God.
The American Church is going to change from the ground up, and the loss of govt contracts for Catholic Charities is going to accelerate that. Doesn't mean the next Pope will be Sarah, or anyone like him, but the overbearing political efforts are really going to fall on deaf ears.

A bishop has a public schedule where he will say Mass. Since he's in charge of the entire diocese, he tends to rotate the locations he says Mass each week, although he tends to say them most often at a Cathedral (if the diocese has one and he normally lives near that Cathedral).
A priest is assigned to a specific Church, and will say Masses just for that Church. Normally, in a healthy diocese, each Church will have 2-3 priests rotating the 5-6 Masses said on a weekend and the 2 daily Masses every weekday. In a less healthy or very small diocese, you might just have 1 priest per Church or even shared between 2 Churches. Then you have a reduced Mass schedule offered.

If 50% of illegals work, and you deported 2M of them, then anything over a one million count job loss means citizens gained jobs in this time.

Bishops in other denominations show up when invited and do special events and do a lot of writing on various issues. You don't see them regularly unless you are being ordained so if WV has a small Roman Catholic population and already has priests it seems like he wouldn't show up that often.

Correct, hypocrisy means nothing to the left. Firstly, they have no integrity or honor to be offended or have shame about.
Second, the goal is not truth or to convince, its to conquer, to destroy. They are trying to bring down the culture and replace it, and to them it doesn't matter how you do it, only the end goal matters. It is so noble and heroic that it sanctifies any method they use.

What I have suspected for some time, and am now sure of, is that because of the complete lack of any real leadership in the Dem Party (with all the 80 and 90 years olds slowly fading away) what's happened is the radical online groups have taken over, at least enough to swing primary elections. The most radical shit-posters and shit-talkers are the biggest winners, and their supporters are completely divorced from even the thought of any real world consequences.
It's much like the woman in Minnesota who was shocked that law enforcement was using real bullets. Everything to them is just one big LARP, and they think that if things go real bad they get to just hit reset and play again.

As you probably know, Las Vegas was a significant LDS city back in the 60s and 70s when I was growing up there (enjoyed many of the city & school leadership positions).
Virtually all of my high school friend were LDS, and they were always (lovingly) trying to convert me -- especially the babes! -- and I remain close to a handful to this day (all rock-ribbed patriotic conservatives; for the past four years we've gotten together in Provo to watch a BYU football game -- No More Scenic and Gorgeous Venue)!
Anywho, (sans individuals like Harry Reid, Mitt Romney, Jeff Flake, etl. al., I have tremendous respect for those of the LDS faith (even if the church leadership appears to have gone wobbly as regards #Woke).

There's been a push by David Platt to draw in churches under the SBC aegis for fund contribution. Church Reform Initiative has an interesting series of videos describing what has happened during his tenure with the Convention government. Plus a huge push for DEI that's seen in the Sunday School material (Lifeway publications.) It's why we left.

My prediction, delved out of my belly-button, is: Trump will start allowing the tankers that pay the Iranian bribe to sail, but will require the proceeds of the oil be funneled to an "Iranian state account" in a place like Qatar. Like Venezuela's forced agreement with the US the oil will be sold at market rates and the funds untouchable until the Iranians cry Uncle, and the ship owner will be recompensed out of that account for the bribe they paid to the IRGC to sail.

Who cares? Or are you saying the Pope should pick bishops based on racial/ethnic lines?
The real question is whether it was a political appointment to poke Trump in the eye or not. Because the selection of a bishop should have nothing to do with politics. (Also, yes, the Roman church has spent about 1,500 years choosing leaders based on politics. Doing that with the archbishopric of Mainz is part of what started Martin Luther's part of the Reformation.)

A liberal outfit released data over the weekend that if every state went maximalist gerrymander the Dems would have a large permanent minority in the House. Something like 2:1. Liberals who wanted to raise the alarm about that were being mass-blocked and called racist, and that wasn't even on BlueSky.

I don't either. But in the Lutheran Church, you are ordained at your first call. So, if he *served* as a youth pastor he was ordained when he was installed in that position - the way we do it.

Thank you. Two things I am not is a hypocrite or blind. This is the only way I pray for Leo and barely think of him otherwise. Which I may find out is wrong. However, being a conservative Presbyterian all of my life except the last two months is to blame. I stand firmly in what the PCA taught me. They don't bend to secular woke desires.
The main reason I left a perfectly good PCA Presbyterian local church is the lack of traditional music. The awful praise music, leaving the history of great music behind. The casualness of people during sermons getting coffee. The same message of the sermon, from a good pastor, weekly.
Whatever you find, wherever you find worship in your heart of God and the Trinity, there is where you need to be. Music plays a huge part of my worship and a piano, violin and great voices are what I desire at 0830 Mass.
I simply found my best worship in a local and huge Catholic parish in a conservative state. What they do in Rome barely makes my news, thoughts or prayers. My soul is all I need to save.
