Suspended Driver Arrested After Troopers Discover Zip-Tied Iguanas in Florida Traffic Stop

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol stopped a pickup truck in Central Florida and discovered zip-tied iguanas.

The truck was pulled over along State Road 540 in Winter Haven because it did not have a working tag light on its license plate. The plate had been attached to the fold-down gate of a utility trailer made of expanded metal.

***

During questioning, Casildo-Acdiel told troopers he was from North Carolina. He claimed he had driven to Miami to pick up coconuts and was on his way to Polk County to get fish before heading back home.

This explanation raised suspicion. Troopers then used a K-9 unit to inspect the vehicle. The search revealed five coolers filled with iced tilapia and 13 live iguanas in the truck bed.

Investigators noted that the animals were zip-tied iguanas, with their feet bound behind their backs. The presence of these zip-tied iguanas led to further concern about possible wildlife violations. Authorities emphasized that the zip-tied iguanas appeared to have been restrained for transport.

Fashion Diplomacy at the White House: Camilla and Melania’s Coordinated Style Highlights from the Royal State Visit

King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s four-day state visit to Washington, D.C., offered more than diplomatic pageantry; it delivered a masterclass in fashion. First Lady Melania Trump and Queen Camilla repeatedly aligned their looks in spring pastels, creating harmonious photo ops that signaled unity between the U.S. and U.K. The result? Magic.
Upon the royals’ arrival, Camilla wore a light pink bespoke Dior coatdress, paired with a Bottega Veneta Intrecciato bag and a beautiful Union Flag/Stars and Stripes brooch that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II.

IMG_1647-rr.jpg

Subsequent daytime appearances kept the palette soft and coordinated. My favorite was Melania being absolutely everything in a Ralph Lauren Collection silk and wool suit in ivory with a signature wide-brimmed Eric Javits straw boater. Her shoes? Manolo Blahnik BB Pumps in ivory, flawless as always. Camilla overcame any frumpy tendencies in a bespoke Fiona Clare coatdress in light pistachio, with a Philip Treacy hat and Eliot Zed Tina pumps. She finished with the sparkling Cullinan V Diamond Brooch. The two looked like they stepped out of a perfectly styled garden party.

IMG_1643-rr.jpg

IMG_1644-rr.jpg

The pinnacle came at the white-tie state dinner. This level of formality hasn’t graced the White House in over 20 years, and wow—our FLOTUS knocked it out of the park with absolute perfection! I mean, look at this:

IMG_1659-rr.jpg

Melania and Camilla stepped out in harmonizing pinks that stole the spotlight, perfectly invoking cherry blossom season. Melania wore head-to-toe Dior: a delphinium-pink silk strapless Christian Dior Haute Couture gown with architectural ruching at the waist, long off-white Dior gloves, and matching Dior shoes. The elegant, columnar silhouette felt both modern and regal, it was timeless First Lady excellence.

Queen Camilla complemented beautifully in a magenta Fiona Clare embroidered chiffon gown. She paired it with a dramatic amethyst and diamond necklace once belonging to Queen Victoria. (I was so stunned by that piece I honestly have no idea what was on her feet—sorry!) The two created one of the most memorable fashion moments of the visit.

IMG_1641-rr.jpg

IMG_1651-rr.jpg

From daytime pastels to white-tie drama, Melania and Camilla delivered coordinated elegance with personality to spare—spring style diplomacy at its finest.

53 I am a fan of Charles and Camilla. It must surely be true love. Camilla almost always looks rather nice snd appropriate fir her age, figure, and station in life. She wears hats snd tiaras beautifully, and set off Granny's Chips to perfection. The pistachio outfit was lovely. Not fond of the demi-parue with that dress. Or possibly at all, but it certainly takes the eye. I'd have it turned into brooches, myself.

I'd like to give Charles a shout out. He is an absolutely smashing dresser, always impeccably turned out, always with a bit of flair and lots of elegance.

Melania looked lovely, although I am not a fan of the boaters. She wears them well, very well, but they do look severe. She looked yo be having a wonderful time, and even got giggly with Charles, who is quite a charming man.

Iguanas are not a protected species in Florida, except by anti-cruelty laws. They can be captured and removed from private property without special permits.

My favorite astrophotographer, Andrew McCarthy, got to collaborate with Reid Wiseman on some pictures of the far side of the Moon. Wiseman shot a bunch of pictures per McCarthy's specifications. The result is this:

https://tinyurl.com/2xe224a8
https://is.gd/h4VARj

Those colors are real, and this is the first such "Mineral Moon" shots of the far side. You can just turn up the color on a single shot, but that does nothing but amplify noise. However, if you stack a whole bunch of shots of the same area, you get a strong signal of the faint colors that are really there without with the noise.

I have to say - I was thinking the same thing. Iguanas are not protected as far as I know - so, other than the out of code trailer/light I don't see any other issues here. Mind That Bird won it in 2009. I knew I'd seen it at least once. 50-1 odds

We used to always place pretend bets and drink mint juleps. I once won the trifecta.

Five year old grandgirl came over to "help me garden" after Mass. She played hard outside instead and claimed her horse won last night and "if she had been there would have made a lot of money." We raise them young.

Piper: Loved the fashion. Melania rocks everything but in my hat opinion (I have many), she owns the boater style. I can wear most hats except a cloche (short hair looks better and mine is past shoulders).

In NOLA one hot summer day I bought a hat on Jackson Square. A huge straw (vs fake straw) beauty. Like an umbrella on my head. Strangers stopped me walking and said they loved it. Held it on my lap on two planes to FL. In the Atlanta airport the waitress carded me at 50yrs. I think to ID who would be crazy enough to wear that hat.Fly through NOLA yearly and I still by a hat there.

We lived 30yrs on the Space Coast. Used to go to Tampa now and then when our craziest son was at the university there. After wasting our $ at UF for 3yrs he changed majors and then accrued student loans as we protested.

I think the Green Iguana was the gay bar that Charlie Crist used to cross dress and attend. Went by the name Sweet Charlotte.

I knew people high in the GOP in FL and I heard it from them.

What are you not telling us Puddleglum?

It was a sleazy dive bar on West Shore Blvd. It was close to the base. Probably some gays in it, it's Tampa, but it wasn't a 'gay bar'. I went there a couple of times but wasn't impressed. There were other sleazy dive bars I preferred. I went looking for it online one time and I think it closed or moved.

My husband had a very OCD mother who did not allow the five kids to have pets. Bless his heart, he only had those little green turtles that kept dying when he was small. The Salmonella kind.

Which brings me to this: do you lick the turtles or simply not wash your hands after holding them? How did they figure this out?

My own Salmonella food poisoning (during anthrax scare in FL, 2001) was due to a salad from another state. The FL Health Dept called me and tracked it down to that lunch, making me neurotic for salads in restaurants to this day. Not once did they ask if I was licking green turtles or if I had them for a pet.

I need to go to bed from a busy day. Fell asleep watching my laptop for a pre-sleep nap. I don't know why I have started doing this now and then and find it alarming.

Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow.

I stare openly at them. The pierced eyebrows would drive me batty. There is no way I'd ever want or deal with a booger catcher pig piercing or anything coming close to my nostrils. There were very few girls in my school that did not have pierced ears, and I felt outcast. Plus, I made my own necklaces & stuff-- ear wires and posts were so much easier to find, and less expensive than screw-back or clip-on.

Turns out, I waited until 17 and wasn't living at home when I finally got pierced. A friend's mom took me and signed the permission form. My mom was furious!

Sweet Charlotte might have been there. This was in the early 2000's that I was told this by many people.

We had a cross-dressing, mean as a snake, cardiologist who would go to Orlando to wear his dresses, so I was told. Married. Reputation of throwing instruments at nurses during heart caths. Wore his hair page boy and looked goofy. I'm sure not on estrogen but just naturally had terminal PMS.

I was once walking up the parking garage to work and he patched out fast and almost ran me over. Instead of an apology he glared at me like it was my fault. I should have run to administration and complained but rolled my eyes at him instead. Nitwit. I'm sure I announced it in the ED to our docs. He was well hated.

I was 17 and freshman year of college. My roommate had her's pierced by someone in the dorm in our bathroom with ice to numb it, fire to sterilize the needle, and a cork behind the ear. I watched as she fainted and told my mother about it (I told her everything). She insisted the GP who delivered me do the piercing. Which resulted in him sticking a needle of lidocaine in each ear, which was not pleasant. He had to redo one ear as it wasn't centered. I did not yell or faint as that is not my style.

I guess I could have started a fad of two holes in one ear and one in the other but didn't. He often smoked cigars as he examined you and cracked jokes.

Probably had a lit cigar while I was being born, which could explain a few things. Mother was on some sort of happy gas and does not remember me for an entire day and certainly not my actual birth.

I found an ABS plumbing floor flange for a toilet (never used in that capacity), and turned it down in the lathe, until I had a black ring with a step on top to fit the base of the air filter, and a projection on the bottom to meet up with the gasket. Works perfectly. I also created a huge mass of plastic shavings, which took several hours to vacuum up. Kept clogging the vac hose.

I knew girls in jr. high that got pierced at home with sharp needle & used dental floss to keep the hole open. Ugh.

At his first duty station, my (then) husband wanted his ear pierced. So, I did it for him with a large sharp needle and used a potato for backing. He'd had a few shots of whiskey, so didn't complain until the next day. He put short piece of heavy fishing line in, as an actual metal stud would be too easily detected and get him written up. So I said I'd do it, but refused to take responsibility if they got written up. We lived off-base, so at least they couldn't kick us out of housing LOL.

Unbelievable how scared some of them were! One guy wanted to use ice, but his ear lobe was so frozen I couldn't get the needle through it.. ugh.. let him "thaw out" and gave him a few shots of JD before trying again. After that, I refused to use ice. Mom sent me an actual piercing gun and a few sets of plain studs... easy peasy. I think it says white or caucasion with a touch of ash but am unsure.

He was a sweet man however seemed very gruff. He saw black people for free. Mother said they came to the back door of the office (in the heart of Dixie). Also had something to do with the Methodist orphanage and died from hepatitis he got on a mission. However, adults meeting him I am sure many thought him in the mob or a comedian.

He was Dr. Ross to me. My brother was terrified of him but I thought he was funny. For shots my brother would scream enough for both of us and they'd have to drag him out from behind doors and I was stoic. This is how he was for my father's spankings as well, which I thought were funny (we were spanked in the bathroom and the second I saw Daddy on the closed toilet I cracked up).

My brother might have been the normal one.'Night

These days I wonder

Article today said Spirit had the best safety record of all the airlines. I think they were referring to the actual flights and not what happened inside the plane while in flight.

321 Wow, Bers! They just couldn't catch a break, huh? Sad!

Posted by: JQ at May 04, 2026 02:20 AM (rdVOm)

No, it burned down during the flood from Hurricane floyd, then they moved to the new location. Its been fine ever since. Higher ground, away from rivers, much nicer area. I was there a few months ago. We get parts from there when we need original parts.

322 Oh, I misunderstood Bers.. Glad they got the 'ell out of flood zone!

A little touch here or there if it makes her feel better. It can get repulsive fast. But I'm a prude. I wouldn't have allowed Melania to wear that dress.

326 Yikes! Glad I live on high ground. If a certain dam upriver from here fails, I think I'll be okay...

Every summer, I watch helos fly over, getting water from the river. Not close enough to river to see them "dip" but they go back n forth all day when there's fire in this region.

Lack of snowpack is setting us up for a bad fire season, ugh.

Rolling Stone moved Eric Clapton down from the top 10 of greatest guitar players of all time to 35 because he admitted to being Covid "vaccine" injured & refused to discriminate on entry to his concerts based on "vaccine" status. They even admit the reasoning in the explanation!

I doubt that he cares.

331 No tats, no piercings. Those are "identifying marks," and while I don't *expect* to ever be the subject of an APB, BOL or Wanted poster.. if I were.. then I would want to get away with it. So let's just say, I'm keeping my options open.

Yes. And he speaks his mind, for better or worse. That stoopid magazine, on the other hand, only publishes what they believe to be "popular opinion"-- blowing every which way with the wind.
