Posted by: Joemarine at May 01, 2026 10:30 PM (y171U) ************************************* An old Indian Proverb is that it is not worth learning to swim if you live near the Ganges River. Live free or die. Or nap. Maybe I should limit myself to a 10min nap and work up. Or stop napping once or twice a week and get back to normal. We were watching Hacksaw Ridge (one half of the movie) and when we stopped I could not remember what day it was for a few seconds, but did not tell my dude. This was probably because we went to a kid's Mass this morning for Grandparents and threw my internal clock completely off. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at May 01, 2026 10:37 PM (WONhk) 102

Looks like Elon is targeting May 12 for the next Starship test, which will be the new v3 version. There's an air advisory in the Latin American network somebody noticed. Rather than going in between Florida and Cuber, it looks like he's going to thread a needle farther south between the Yucatan and Cuba, then between Cuba and the Caymans and Jamaica. By Jamaica, he's high enough to not worry any more. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at May 01, 2026 10:19 PM (w6EFb) Yah, mon. Pro Tip : Make sure you park the second crane outside the apartment block, otherwise you will need a third crane. I only read headlines of news because unless I am interested it is a waste of my time. I also liked the food chart above, created by someone ticked off. It did not cover the food I was craving when I used to sample Play Doh in kindergarten to see if the colors tasted differently. I don't remember much about kindergarten but apparently I rocked my poem for parents, "Pussy Willow." The teacher chose it for me, Morons. The only other memory in the private Kindergarten run by Mrs. Nelson I have is eating Vanilla Wafers. A girl liked me so much she gave me half of hers that she'd taken a bite out of and gross mushy! A girl in PreK4 at school today liked me so much she showed me all of her work at Grandparent's Day. She either had no grandparents come or just liked me a whole lot, but she was not my granddauhter. Granted I was sitting at the little art table on a little wooden chair as I was tired. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at May 01, 2026 10:52 PM (WONhk) 143

Today in 1966, future rock bassist Johnny Colt was born Charles Brandt. He was the original bassist for The Black Crowes, before moving on to other things after their fourth album Three Snakes And One Charm (1996).
Their biggest hits were their first two albums, Shake Your Money Maker (1990) and The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion (1992), but instead here's a bit of a deep cut off their third album Amorica (1994). As usual, I asked Brave AI for suggestions to showcase his playing specifically; and after listening to a few, I would describe Johnny Colt's bass lines in this one as "slick" and "melodic," holding the groove without disappearing into the background: The Black Crowes - She Gave Good Sunflower (Fan Vid) https://youtu.be/xWZIcoTeLQE Lyrics on Genius: https://tinyurl.com/5e9yran2 (Cont.) Yeah.... Indian... wonder why. Posted by: Romeo13 ------- And that's how you wind up with a bunch of semi-competent graduates of IIT in your engineering department. Indians are nepotistic as hell. No matter the job, if they don't have a cousin (rarely) they'll find a different Indian. I've dealt with a number of both, and, although they may agree with a co-religionist that your head will look better on the floor, Paks are better engineers. In other stunning good news, I took my truck back to big box membership store tire department and they finally figured out how to get the tire pressure monitoring system working correctly. They didn't admit to anything, but I strongly suspect they put the wrong sensors in the first time. They said something about trying a new part number but still maintained the first ones covered my year.
All I really care about is the truck works properly now and the stupid little light is out. Posted by: Anonymous Rogue in Kalifornistan (ARiK) at May 01, 2026 11:17 PM (QGaXH) 190

Two years later, on May Day of 1968, future rock bassist D'arcy Wretzky was born to a pipefitter and a musician -- and you can already tell from the fact of reading this that she did not follow in her father's footsteps. She was the original bassist for The Smashing Pumpkins, through their first six albums. They have a lot of hits, and I managed to find this live performance in a record store on the eve of the release of their second album Siamese Dream (1993). This song was not actually released as a single until 30 years later, as an album anniversary thing, long after it was already popular. A nice thing about this recording for my purpose here is that, since Billy Corgan and James Iha were basically forced onto acoustic guitars by the noise constraints of the venue, D'arcy's bass really shines through without even trying. It's an accidentally great showcase: The Smashing Pumpkins - Mayonaise (Live at Tower Records, Chicago, 1993) https://youtu.be/ycKG_Ka-kdg Lyrics: genius.com/The-smashing-pumpkins-mayonaise-lyrics Posted by: SciVo at May 01, 2026 11:17 PM (Sy6m/) 191
I don't watch any tv all day then we watch an hour after dinner of something. Unless a great movie then 2hrs.
I am watching a series, "Unforgettable," on Amazon of a homicide detective who remembers every detail instantly. Poppy Montgomery is very pretty but I have a new obsession of anyone with a mole next to their lips. I have a history of skin cancer and an imaginary degree in dermatology. I look at people's moles in public for decades. Usually for melanomas. I guess with it being on screen, lips are my focus vs eye contact in real life, altho I don't recall meeting anyone with lip moles. Now I probably will and have to restrain myself. Another show that puts me to sleep once a week is Hope Valley: 1974.Canadian. Corny but ok and I sort of like the lead actor. Lead actress has several lip moles really in need of my scalpel, way more than Poppy Montomery's. I know if I had one, benign or not,it would drive me insane to lizard behavior as IT's RIGHT THERE and my tongue would mess with it forever.
