They're all caught flat-footed except for the one cop who draws and fires apparently 4 times at the perp (good) but creates a crossfire and flags over half his own team while firing (bad). - I think it is acceptable to dismantle one of the magnetometers when no longer needed (I have worked events (waiter, valet) and give them a break their job was done)
- the TSA dudes did what they should have - ran away.
- Most of the agent seem reasonably alert except the dude in the suit, and the ones we can not see. I think the layout is pretty piss poor, but I don't have the whole map, so I can't say.
- Honestly, I am not sure any of them screwed up except the dude in the suit who was daydreaming, and the K9. But withholding judgment.

Well, good on the one officer in the bottom left of the camera view -- the one in uniform, with a full head of hair, no glasses or cap. He or she got four shots off before anyone else got their pistols drawn; most of them weren't even bothering to keep the unsecured (pre-screening) area in their field of view.
No shade on the two guys who were actually head-down working on disassembling a walk-through magnetometer, then there was another guy working on something out past the door the attacker came through, and the plain-clothes guy could be hotel security or something (looks basically like an armed concierge). I see the bad guy running and pointing the gun at the cop that was squared off against him. Can't see any muzzle flash, but I assume that is the cop that got shot.
That cop's muzzle flash shows later, but I think he missed, but did not hit another cop, at least with that shot. He supposedly shot a couple other times, can't see where those went.
No evidence of anyone else being shot ... the guy that jumps back jumped before the bad guy ran past him. But I really don't see how this video makes anything absolutely clear, except the bad guy ran past them with the shotgun, and at least pointed it at the cop with gun drawn.

This reminds me of how I thought no one could fly a plane into buildings without our military shooting them out of the sky and I kind of assumed they had fighter jets patrolling the coasts. I was wrong.

What I'm wondering is, why the hell didn't they just move the gates against the wall for later disassembly? Laying it down in the middle of the room seems like a really stupid idea, like if there was a bomb threat or fire, you'd have everyone tripping over the damned thing taking up half the usable space in the room.

Husband had MRI which was inconclusive. Had biopsy and totally negative. And his family has history of prostate cancer. Think positive.

I'm staying positive. Mine said "almost certainly cancer" but only one spot and no indication that it had spread. The biopsy could show that whatever the MRI saw wasn't actually cancer but we'll see.
I'm not concerned about dying from it but I don't want it to impact my trip to MoMe in October.

The bottom line for me is this was the totally wrong venue to hold this event with a POTUS and his admin. attending without a total lockdown of hallways, all side side rooms, closets, etc. Have one, and only one entrance and exit tightly controlled at all times with everything else closed off. This is a hotel so it is going to piss people off but make sure that it is advertised ahead of time that for X amount of hours, there will be a lockdown of the interior/exterior perimeter of the hotel until the event is over and POTUS has left the building.

After he leaves the gym proper, there are a couple shots where you have to watch through glass as he goes into and out of a room just outside the gym. So he was scoping out the area that would be closer to the event, and found a room where he could change without even having to go into the gym itself. So he may have stashed the shotgun disassembled, put it together right before the attack, and then carried it under his coat for not a long distance.

I would be delighted if this mug were to be suicided in jail. They aren't going to uncover any facts from him. Investigations will lead nowhere and waste taxpayer time and money.

He did his little jaunty walk up and down the hall and to the gym, friendly with the lady at the desk.
Then walked down the hall the opposite way wearing a black coat (where the gun was hidden after putting it together in another room.
I did not even notice the K-9 til now.
The good thing that I hope will come of this is better security for President Trump and Co from now on.
What is not often mentioned is this is on a floor beneath the entrance to the ballroom...or that is what I read a couple of times.
I still want footage of him being stripped down and searched for bombs. I assume his sneer is not present at this point. He looked not pleased to be sniffing hotel carpet when he was trussed and covered in a hypothermia blankie. Dikhead.

I'm too used to watching Matt Dillon or Lucas McCain shooting a gun out of a man's hand or shooting a guy off of a speeding horse way ahead of him dead center. I have a feeling real life rarely works that way unless you are a qualified sniper and they are a rare breed.

If you actually watch the available footage of armed civilians or police encountering the various types of violent low lifes, these scenes are chaotic to say the least and the worst come on suddenly where it is critical for the defenders to get their shit together suddenly in fractions of a second.
Action will always beat reaction so there is a reason that one has to be thinking ahead of the situation to either avoid or prepare rather than going into it oblivious. Hard to do when security checkpoint duty is boring until suddenly it is not.

It looks like they were all occupied taking down the security checkpoint. Shooter rushed in out of nowhere. One cop was alert enough to pull on time, but it was quick.
The real issue was letting him get that close in the first place, where he could rush up that quickly. Also, should have had someone stationed down the hall.
