Old Spin: Democrats Aren't Socialists
Newer Spin: Democrats Are Socialists But They're Not Communists
Reality: Democrats Are Organizing May Day General Strikes With Communist Groups

Next spin: Okay we're communists, but we're not Stalinists.

And then after that: Okay we're Stalinists, but you deserve it, stupid. How clear did we have to make it that we intend to enslave and murder you?

Up to 600 communist groups and other radical organizations linked to the Democratic Party are mobilizing all over the United States to demonstrate for May Day, Fox News Digital is reporting.

An investigation by the outlet has identified a sprawling network with "a combined annual revenue of about $2 billion organizing some 3,000 protests and events" pushing what the outlet describes as an "anti-American agenda."

The protestors are urging Americans to skip work, school, and shopping.

"May Day" has its origins in workers demonstrations in the 19th Century. Initially called International Workers Day in 1890, the event called for worldwide demonstrations in the memory of workers killed in an 1886 protest in Chicago.

According to Fox Digital:

At the center of the May Day mobilization, which has expanded from earlier indications, is a network of communist, socialist, Marxist, and other far-left organizations, led by chapters of the Democratic Socialists of America and a network of groups -- including the People's Forum, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, ANSWER Coalition and Code Pink -- funded by an American-born tech tycoon, Neville Roy Singham, based in Shanghai, promoting the propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party.

...

Unlike in decades past, the Democratic Party is increasingly associating itself with radical elements organizing through Indivisible, MoveOn.org, the American Federation of Teachers, and 13 state and local chapters of the Democratic National Committee as well as the California Democratic Party, Fox reported.

...

One Democrat said the Democratic Party involvement in May Day with the radical groups comes at their own peril.

"The increasing willingness of mainstream Democrats to align with extremist socialist groups is a major factor in why the Democratic Party is losing the center more and more, and why so many lifelong Democrats find themselves feeling politically homeless," Democratic strategist Melissa DeRosa told Fox News Digital.

For years we’ve called anyone even slightly left of center a socialist. Even someone like Clinton, who while a piece of shit in many aspects, was no socialist. The guy got rid of Glass-Steagall for crying out loud, about the most non-socialist thing he could have done short of getting a tattoo of Milton Friedman on his forehead.

Calling everyone a socialist was like the left calling everyone on the right a racist. The world lost any meaning. People hear socialism and they go yeah whatever, it just means Democrat. But at the same time true socialists have taken over the party. So now we’re accusing actual socialists of being socialists but nobody pays attention because we’ve been doing it for so long.

The public schools are not being sneaky about this, they are explicitly taking the children given to them by the parents and directly using them as props.

Is there anyone left that doesn't understand we can't go on like this as a nation? There is nothing the left will not weaponize to win. I am f'ing tired of any r politician that does not understand we are deep into a fight to the death and if they aren't actively fighting the left they are obviously stalling as a part of enemy action.

Fascism was the attempt to reconcile the demands of the industrialists who were essential to the wealth of the nation, with the anarcho-syndicalists who were coming into control of the workers the industrialists needed for production. In regulating both, the state was put in a position to arbitrate, and of course take their cut in power and riches.
Generally Fascist states are not so much good at property rights as they are in league with the large property owners. In Italy, think a balance between the Roman Republic, Medieval bankers, and Renaissance labor guilds.
Any one of the three areas given the power would destroy the economy, only working in balance could they prosper. As it was, though, the Fascist system protected each area to the point that no real advance could be made within the system since there was no real competition or innovation allowed.

Because they realized that "ownership" was only a marker of control.

They controlled everything they wanted to control. While not necessarily getting the government involved in running a business.

Fascism, in Gentile's original model is about social progression, and the state as the vehicle of social change. Ironically, it's built on a "cooperative" model. You contribute to the State, the State keeps you around.

There were non-Jews that lost their entire company, because they weren't that useful to the Nazis. T

A couple of days ago I posted the description that one of the things about fascism is that the State decides everything that the State decides it should decide.

You can understand Marx and Engels in such a way to know that the fascist state--the state with absolute authority to pursue its vision, is exactly what you get in the stage before Communism. The "Dictatorship (In the Name) of the Proletariat" *is* functionally equal to a fascist government, but they're trying to beat you into shape to live on a commune.

The problems, in rough order:

1) The right never tries to undo what the left does (well outside of Trump) so we get a rachet affect
2) The right doesn't bother to explain the non-immediate bad effects of leftwing policies, for example when Biden doubled the budget LIVs didn't care. When we got Bidenflation they did care, but few explained how they were related
3) The right lets FedGov loot the productive class to pay the leftist classes - both the FSA and the NGO/Bureaucracy class

There are lots of people here who are perfectly good with 18% of the GDP being FedGov, so long as the entirety of the other 82% is in manufacturing, a.k.a The Only Jobs That Matter.

They were only nominally okay with private property. Although the title remained in individual hands, the government exercised full control over its use (and value). This is why fascism is the bureaucratic sweet spot. All of the real control, but none of the blame when something goes wrong as the putative owner will always be the obvious fallguy.

Let me emphasize one word in that: Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

What most people don't realize that what the average person thinks is "communism" s actually socialism.

Socialism is not just some watered down compromise between capitalism and communism.

Socialism is extreme leftwing totalitarianism.

USSR? Socialist. Cuba? Socialist. North Vietnam? Socialist. East Germany? Socialist. Etc, etc.

All of these were/are totalitarian police states.

So when someone says they are "merely" socialist, be very afraid.

115 Gentile's philosophy was practical, in it's way. It wasn't about some projected "history".

Mussolini became a more practical socialist. He edited the most prestigious socialist periodical in Italy for a decade or two.

Which is why the practical model of fascism can fit both a state where people have a grant of private property, as long as they cooperate with the State and a state like Engels' "Dictatorship (In the Name) of the Proletariat", whose direction is away from private property, so in order to adjust everybody, citizens have as little private property as the State can manage.

The key to fascism is Mussolini's summation: (EISNOSNAS) Everything IN the State, Nothing OUTSIDE of the State, Nothing AGAINST the State.

It's a cooperative model--even "compelling cooperation", thus somebody cooperating with the State's lead IS functionally a part of the State.

Does anyone think if every white person gave every last cent to every black person and then became their personal slaves for 30 years each, that the Left would be satisfied? During it and even at the end, would they say "great - this is even now we are no longer "offended" by your white privilege."

That was illustrated in the end of Schindler's list. Had he the ring, had he declined his car, had he resigned from the Nazi party.... he likely wouldn't have kept the factory.

Because the Nazi party didn't have a value of profitability, but how well the factory served the State. So, it wouldn't have mattered how well he could have thrived "on his own".

Your entire enterprise was assignable to some Nazi crony, just based on the idea that Party would rather he have it, and they have decided they don't like you so much.

It's one of the things that weakened the Nazi economy and the war effort.

The idea that Nazi ideologues were "okay with private property" is laughable and just barely true.

154 And (everyone here should know this, but the avergae person does not):

WWII started as an intenecine struggle on the far left -- a conflict between two ideologies:

International Socialsm (the USSR) vs. National Socialism (Germany).

The USSR was a coalition of 19 nations and 50 different ethnicities all embracing socialism as a group, with the goal of slowly expanding outward to ultimately encompass the whole world. That's international socialism.

Germany's brand of socialism was more inward-0directed and self-centered: Socialism is just for us, our nation, our ethnic group. And we'll kill anyone who gets in our way.

Germany wanted to "liberate" "Aryans" living in Poland, Chechoslovakia, eastern Europe, etc., so boom, the conflict with the USSR was inevitable.

But the difference between to two forms of socialism now seems, in retrospect, pretty trivial.

If instead germany and the USSR has banded together to bring socialism to the world, and to work out their differences later, they might have succeeded. Chilling thought..

160 If you look at the origins of fascism and the interwar period things weren't as clear cut as they would later become on ideology

Germany and Italy were originally rivals - Mussolini was willing to oppose Hitler moving into Austria for example, but after trying to deal with Britain/France he decided Hitler was the strong horse...

And in several cases, traditionalist leaders like Franco in Spain and Horthy in Hungary ended up allied with Germany not through an ideological agreement, but because the alternative was communism.

Spain is especially interesting - compare the RCC in Franco's Spain with Nationalist Socialist Germany's relations with Archbishop Galen and the Pope (specifically Germany considered assassinating/executing both of them for their Catholic stances)

168 May Day a few years ago I was tdy in the Seattle area. I’m driving down this semi rural road when a car passes me in a curve and swerves into a tree stand. I stop, run over to the car and look into the drivers side thinking death or serious injury. Now I can also smell fuel so there’s an urgency. What do I see? Some woman, thrown into the passenger side because she wasn’t belted in. She topless, and her legs are up and you can see London. I notice there are May Day signs in the car and she smells like vodka. She has a head laceration that’s bleeding down her face, probably some serious contusions. I ask if she’s ok and can she work her way to the driver side so I can pull her out of the window. What does she say? “You’re cute” and she starts making sexual remarks. I’m like ma’am we have to move before this thing catches on fire. Nope. She says she’s comfortable and asks if I saw her bottle of Tito’s. PD shows up along with rescue. I told them what’s going on, he shakes his head and say it happens every year.

There aren't many people living on communes in China. I have no idea if China is preparing people for that.

I don't think there are supposed to be any slaves in a "socialism", outside of the new form serfs it creates.

How eager do you think China is for the "state to wither" (again Engels is pretty weaselly on what constitutes the "dissolution of the State", and it could be whenever a State deems itself as having accomplished its Marxist ends). The withering away of the State is the main thing that state-centrist fascists rejected from Marx' theory.

China is a nation. China has a state that's not likely to go away. It is a national socialism, but probably slightly more bent to Marxian Maoism in theme.

Right. He started being more influenced by Giovanni Gentile's writing. And he gradually split with Italian Marxists over the stability of the State.

To Gentile, you can't really get much done that benefits “everybody” without the State leading it.

Thus the development of fascism was really a rejection of the "withering away of the state" which was “necessary” in Marx's theory.

BTW, there are plenty of people who get this wrong. Marxism, Fascism, those are ideologies. Conservatives are often not subordinating the theory or idea to empirically judged "successes".

It's one of the reasons why 20th-century progressives have viewed "conservatism" as inherently "anti-intellectual".

You can see that early 20th-century "sophisticated society" was just more eugenic-minded. Since nobody has dubbed their form of government "fascist" or "national socialist" since then, means that most self-claimed fascist states will exist when sophisticates were very eugenically-minded.

However, I argue that Europe is filled with multi-party national socialist states. Who are moving toward the point where the government decides everything it decides it needs to decide.

253 The issue now with the US economy (IMO) is the financialization of every aspect. There is a focus on profit over production, and with a short term horizon for investments. There are fewer companies now that will sell you a widget that you can use for decades for example but those companies that don't won't be around in five years, like as not.

There are a number of reasons for this, but part of it is the inflation making long term investments that don't give regular dividends a bad idea, and taxation that means holding stock and raw materials an overall liability.

So, it's a sieve for how "academics" and "intellectuals" and people who pursued those descriptions became mostly ideologues. Who's main claim to fame is grousing because the distribution of property is not "perfect".
