Hungry, a movie about a killer... hippo. I don't know if this is meant to be a serious movie or a half-serious one. They are making references to Hungry Hungry Hippos.

Hell No, a horror movie in which characters make sensible, logical decisions.

The final Jackass movie. These guys are too old to be taking shots like this.

Spider-Noir with Nicholas Cage. A series on Amazon, from Sony Pictures TV. So it's not giving Disney or Marvel any money. And I do like Spider-Man, Nicholas Cage, and Noir.

The girl from Happy Birthday 2 Me in an amnesia/hallucination movie. Her husband keeps telling her everything is okay. Or should I say "her husband" because come on, we've seen this kind of thing before.

The one minute teaser for Clayface looks okay.

See, I long ago advocated for studios to take these kinds of risks with their IP.

Not everything needs to be a $250 million blockbuster.

Clayface, with his Batman connections, is well-known enough of an IP to take some kind of risk with while assuming strong enough box office to justify smaller risks. Clayface reportedly only costs about $40 million.

Combine that brand recognition with the horror genre, and DCU has a guaranteed return on investment here.

James Gunn is smart.

Critical Drinker has a review of the trailer. His take is that it seems like it might be an okay horror movie. And it'll be Resident Evil in the respect that once or twice you'll see something that says Raccoon City but otherwise completely ignores everything about the game and all prior films.

It's the movie WB was going to write off and destroy. After the press blowup, they put it up for auction, eventually bought by Ketchup Studios (who?) for about $50 million.

I strongly suspect it'll bomb, but hey, at least we get the movie everyone discovers 5 years after it was released and everyone's like, "Hey, why did no one see this in theaters? It's really funny!"

Many of them have sympathetic backgrounds, which can garner sympathy from the audience. However, to show them *right* you have to demonstrate they are psychologically incapable of redemption. That's why they are villains within the DCU.

Kind of like the Darklords from the Ravenloft D&D setting. They are all complete monsters, no matter their background, because they will never, ever atone for the crimes that sent them down the path of becoming a Darklord.

74 I read the novel The Dog Stars some years ago primary because it is set here in Happy Valley and in The Stinkin' Desert from here through the next 40 miles south. (I used to drive it to and from work every day.) I didn't care for it all that much but the movie might be good. I don't think it was shot around here because I haven't heard of any movies being shot around here and the trailer doesn't look like around here.

I am unable to comprehend how so many people have the physical time in their day to both consume as much media (Esp. movies and TV) as they do, and to also CARE so much about it.

Maybe I'm just at a place in my life where I don't feel like I have either the time or the mental energy to fit it in. I get up, work all day, sit down for a few minutes, cook dinner, feed the family, clean up sometimes, maybe do some laundry or whatever else needs doing, then at the end of the day I have about an hour before it's time for bed. And I'm not spending my weekends going out of my way to see Hollywood squeeze yet another drop of blood out of the stones that are all of the current IPs they've been throat-fucking for 20 years.

Rumors are floating that Spielberg's new movie, Disclosure Day, is actually a secret sequel to Close Encounters.

There's apparently nothing from the 3rd act in any of the trailers, and people who are part of the production (like Emily Blunt, star) are bringing up Close Encounters in interviews with implications in their answers that there may be direct connections.

Okay...don't write this down, but I find Milton probably as boring as you find Milton. Mrs. Milton found him boring, too. He, uh, he's a little bit long-winded, he doesn't translate very well into our generation, and his jokes are terrible. But that does not relieve you from your responsibility for this material! Now, I'm waiting for reports from some of you! (students pay no attention to him) Listen, I'm not joking! This is my job!

96 I was barely into DC Comics in the 80s, was much more into Marvel, so I had never heard of Clayface until I came across this movie coming out.

It doesn’t appeal much to me.

I’ll check out Spider-Noire for the same reasons as Ace.

The rest on the list don’t seem too appealing, either. Coyote vs. ACME might be OK but I’ll wait to see some reviews to come to a conclusion about ever watching it.

Dog Stars might be alright, I always took a liking to apocalypse flicks since Mad Max, but this one looks like it will only be marginally more interesting than The Road which was so tedious and boring I’ve forgotten most of it.

They have equipment for the pros which is where they really make their money.

I have not seen a movie in the theater for nearly a decade, and I hated it, because it was a Star Wars abomination.

That said, I like watching a movie to unwind, especially on a Friday evening. But, I also have the ability to stop a movie, and return later. My brother does not understand this. When he starts a movie, he MUST see it all the way through in one sitting.

I read books the same way. Sometimes an hour or so at bedtime, sometimes 20 minutes.

The pause button in my brain works pretty well. Heh.

There's a second half of the film that they made.

It dealt directly with one of the kids.

The production didn't realize they had to get permission from the kid and his family to include it until they were in editing. They cut out the footage completely.

153 The key to Lovecraftian horror is the whole setting, the cinematic universe they live in, and that setting is here and now, our rational, logical, deterministic, observable universe. The characters are just like us because they are here with us and share our understanding of everything. And when the story shatters the veil between the character's tiny world and the vast cosmic horror it puts a few cracks into our's as well.

It feels a bit dangerous. But I think that can be mitigated in part by a nice Cthulhu plushi you can squeeze and hug.

It was adapted to the screen, at least the Inferno was. It was Disney's The Black Hole. It was a religious movie wrapped up in sci fi. It starts with Borngnine saying "it looks like something out of Dante's Inferno" and ends with the Hell scene. You need to watch it from a religious/,spiritual perspective.

I was always captivated by the ship. A 'ghost' ship if you will. The Cygnus was so cool. This Gothic cathedral in space. I loved when the Captain is wandering through the crew quarters and finding signs that look like they just left (without realizing they were 'leaving'.) Just very cool. I was sad to see it get destroyed at the end of the movie.

Its one of the best payoffs of any movie I've ever seen. At the beginning it is established that the robot Vincent and Kate have an ESP connection. In the middle Vincent tells BOB that there connection was called The Black Hole Project. In the dinner scene it is established that the black hole is beyond human senses. When the crew is going into the black hole, they start spinning and focus on Kate's pupil as a black hole. So we see what she sees with her ESP, extra sensory perception.
