I am now the recipient of the most-obscure, least-transferable credential around. Having taken the courses, passed the test and done the qualifying work, I am now a Certified Steward for American Kennel Club dog shows.* Stewards have a little-heralded but very important job. Conformation dog shows run on a tight schedule and stewards perform the multitude of small tasks working with judges and exhibitors to keep things going. Without us, the proceedings would quickly grind to a crawl. I've been doing it for 30 years, but the certification now puts me on a list that clubs can use when they need someone who knows what they're doing. It's very busy work lasting all day, done for little more than a deposit in the Favor Bank, perhaps a free lunch, and being able to say "bitch" in a loud voice. (*When you're retired, even little successes are gratifying) Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at April 29, 2026 07:44 PM (HdYcL) 5

Surprised the Goldens don't get brain freeze from gobbling those cones down in one bite. We once gave our little puppy Knight a small bowl of ice cream. He took a big bite of it and immediately his eyes bulged out from the shock. He desperately tried to spit it out but it froze to the roof of his mouth. Good for you! Congratulations.. I felt guilty today for getting frustrated taking care of Ralphy. He wants to be with me every minute and now that I'm working on the computer I have to carry him up and down the 8 wooden steps. He's fine on carpetted steps. I'm still getting used to this. Snowflake came in early tonight. She usually comes in around 11pm and I put her out in the middle of the night. Screw it. Both of them on the bed and movies... Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at April 29, 2026 07:50 PM (HdYcL) I got a box of mini cake cups, by Joy Cone. I thought they'd be perfect for a small sized ice cream cone for myself, like the Dairy Queen kid size or something. Turns out, they're just slightly bigger than a sewing thimble, so they have become the doggie ice cream cones. About a tablespoon of ice cream fills the cone, and they think they've really gotten something special. Posted by: Dash my lace wigs! at April 29, 2026 07:54 PM (zYpTz) 27

AL, but let's hope TN also. Several calling for a 9-0 GOP redistricting, citing MA, where the partisan vote imbalance is much closer, and yet 9-0 Dems.
FL done. TX done (I think). Since this was a LA case, is LA going to redistrict in time for this year's rodeo? NC, SC, KY remain. Presumably VA's abortion gets nixed, unless the court there renders a fact- and law-free "1+1=7" sort of ruling, which must be at least somewhat likely. Wonder if this sudden, and late-in-cycle, redistricting might result in actually useful GOP reps, not inertial machine slop the dominates the party? Good one - just kidding.
