Trump to Iran: I'm Giving You Primitive Screwheads "Three to Five Days" to Come Up With a United Government Position, Or Else It's Bombs Away

As you probably know, parts of the Iran "government," such as it is, are making conciliatory noises while others are crying Death to America and ordering attacks on ships.

I think this is typical Muslim hudna bullshit -- "negotiating" just to regroup before the next unbroken-for-1300-years war on the world -- but hopefully Trump has reached the end of his patience for this rope-a-dope.

U.S. officials first began to see the divisions after the first round of Islamabad talks, when it became clear IRGC commander Gen. Ahmad Vahidi and his deputies had rejected much of what Iran's own negotiators had discussed.
The split broke into the open last Friday. When Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the IRGC refused to implement it -- and began publicly attacking him.

Someone must have put the Democrats in charge of Iran's finances because they're not paying Homeland Security.

Or... so Trump says. I don't know. The mullahs will make sure the first and last pennies they have left are used to pay their secret police and terrorists.

19 I think part of the administration's strategy is to get the EU to pull their own weight. They rely on the petro products from Iran more than the US. So there's that.

And there are likely contingency plans being drawn up to secure the Hormuz. But that will likely mean US sailors and Soldiers will be directly in harms way, yet able to dish out some harm of their own.

One has to believe there was a "plan" to deal with the Hormuz if Iran/IRGC was this recalcitrant. Maybe it's just taking a while to get the pieces into place.

24 I agree Ace, based on what I have observed. Trump’s strength is that he is a bit scary and a bit unpredictable. But, his weakness is that he communicates to much and he has only been communicating that he is desperate for a deal. He would have been better off just saying that we are done bombing for now, and not seeking a deal with Iran. He should have said “if they act-up we will come back and devastate them again”. But, making a “deal” means we have to concede. And, Iran has the upper hand if we need a deal. This is mostly about perceptions. Iran is f-ed no matter what and they will be weak a long time. But, now Trump will be judged by whether he got a deal and the terms of the deal.

I mean besides holding the entire population under threat of arbitrary arrest, arresting and holding protesters as prisoners to get compliance from their families is a thing a dictatorship does. The "winery" was always a sham designed to grift from and possibly even defraud "investors." Here's how these things work:

1. Set up company in a trendy industry. Like, you know, a winery.

2. Offer investments in the company at insanely inflated prices. The "investors" are usually (but not always) in on it.

3. Use the income from "investments" for any purpose you want.

4. Company ultimately folds, but so what? The entire thing was set up to basically launder money, and it accomplished its goal.

Usually the converse of that is true. The oil in the reservoir is floating on top of the salt water. Pump on the well to hard, and suction will draw the oil/water interface up into a cone, with its apex at the wellbore. Same happens with fresh water wells on islands.

Another thing to think about: if for some reason, shutting in some of the Iranian wells wrecks them for good, so what? You know where the reservoir is, how deep it is, and what the remaining reserves are. It would be very easy, and quick, to drill new wells, better situated to exploit the remaining reserves. If there is regime change in Iran, and the good guys win, there would be money made in helping them get the oil fields up and running again. If the bad guys remain in charge, no point in letting have oil to sell, is there?

The other gulf states are extraordinarily weak from a military standpoint. The Saudi's and the UAE have a decent air force, but no competent ground forces. Remember that with US backing the Saudi's tried to do a ground invasion of Yemen not all that long ago; and they got their asses kicked by a bunch of goatherds.

The only military forces with any real significance in the Middle East belong to Iran, Turkey, Egypt, and Israel. Egypt is too far away to concern itself with what's going on in Iran, and no one wants Erdogan to have anything to do with this situation.

So there's not going to be any deus ex machina dropping in from some unexpected quarter.

You know where the reservoir is, how deep it is, and what the remaining reserves are. It would be very easy, and quick, to drill new wells, better situated to exploit the remaining reserves. The other gulf states are extraordinarily weak from a military standpoint. The Saudi's and the UAE have a decent air force, but no competent ground forces. Remember that with US backing the Saudi's tried to do a ground invasion of Yemen not all that long ago; and they got their asses kicked by a bunch of goatherds.

The only military forces with any real significance in the Middle East belong to Iran, Turkey, Egypt, and Israel. Egypt is too far away to concern itself with what's going on in Iran, and no one wants Erdogan to have anything to do with this situation.

So there's not going to be any deus ex machina dropping in from some unexpected quarter.

Their gold is supporting their bonds and the value of their currency. Once they start selling it off the Yuan is going to collapse and all their bonds will too. Their bonds are mostly supported by things like real estate, commercial buildings, factories and power plants a lot of which are standing empty and/or built out of Chinesium, so having the gold as a backstop is essential.

Yea, way more. Like 4-5x more. Those "paper" fast-food cups are not as dirt-cheap as they look. They are both paper and plastic (plastic coating). 100% plastic cups are cheaper, but "plastic" is a dirty word now -- so we get "paper" cups that contain a lot of ... plastic.
