I got this text this evening:
You're making a huge mistake continuing to ignore us like this.

We're asking one last time.

Verify your voter profile ASAP. >> win26.io/le5v2b

It's from "WinRed," and directs to some stupid questionnaire from the NRSC. It is a perfect example of why the Republican Party sucks, and why we will never achieve the electoral success of the Democrats without wholesale changes. And by changes I mean the destruction of the Corporate GOP apparatus and its replacement with rabble-rousing young conservatives who hate the GOPe.

By the way, here is my answer:

Who do you think you are, saying that? Go fuck yourselves

NYPD cop on horseback chases down convicted killer-turned-purse snatcher in wild NYC bust

I was hoping for the mounted policeman to chase her down, knock her to the concrete, and let the horse trample her to death.

But I guess an arrest is okay too.

32 rhomboid, crisco will always make a good textured pie crust, but I find it to be bland. Lard or butter make a better tasting crust.

mom used to make an oil crust using corn oil, which is easier, but the flaky texture is not there. I have also experimented with a hot water crust, but I find that also has texture issues, at least the way I make it.

All good so far, though I haven't checked the bookstores. I know they have some. Their downtown is amazing: a super wide main street with angle parking, no parking garages or meters (though the angle spots are three hours only, but I can live with that). Lots of different, thriving stores.

96 Thanks Kindltot. I have realistic expectations, don't expect to duplicate a good professional crust. Just want mine less chewy. They do vary from one to the other, some better. Pretty much keep same technique (either pastry blender or food processor), everything's very cold, etc. I'll just keep experimenting, including trying shortening again (half shortening/half butter) and then lard.

Leaf lard, per Ben Had, to be precise. Reco'd for fruit/sweet pie crusts - apparently a neutral flavor, so also OK for savory (might just use salted butter for those combos).

This place makes me hungry!

I am wondering who thought this was a good idea. One thing I have noticed is that the more recent generations have ... issues communicating properly. In a tone and manner that actually works. Even though they are 'writing' more than almost any preceding generation before them with texting, they seem to lack all decorum when doing so. It's as though they cannot predict how what they write will be interpreted in text without context- even though they communicate in the same way all the time.

A better way to say it might have been: 'With the issues we face, please lend your support. We cannot afford not to fight these battles.' Make it a group thing rather than a confrontational, insulting mess that a retard wrote.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the ONT.

154 I needed to change the oil of my 2018 F-150 5.0. It takes 9 (nine!) quarts of oil. I have done it before, and it is always an adventure, mainly due to a frame cross member being less than an inch from the plastic drain plug in the plastic oil pan.

I was doing my usual "one-weird-trick" of using a sheet of cardboard to deflect the oil into my used oil basin, when I noticed the big dip pan under the basin was rapidly filling with oil. My plastic oil drain basin had a crack in it at about the 2-quart level.

$10 worth of Pig Mat later, I had most of the oil mopped up. I was glad to find I could wring out a sheet of Pig Mat and use it a couple of times. Then I got to deal with the stuck oil filter, which felt like some inbred, mouth-breathing hillbilly had installed it with an impact wrench, even though I know it was me who put it on, just a hair past finger-tight. Nearly two hours after I started, I was finally done with a 30 minute job.

So it's always an adventure when I get 'round to testing them when it decides to come on.

That minimal package, however, means I miss out on a lot of BS that otherwise I'd have to figure out how to turn off or trace and cut wires or pop chips or pull fuses or w/e.

235 Reason #349340854 why car dealers blow hairy ass. Mrs B had her RDX at the Acura dealer for an oil change and to see about a noise coming from one of the wheels. I figure let them find it and I'll fix it. They tell her the back shocks are bad and it needs brakes. I can see the shocks needing to be replaced, I noticed it sometimes gets an extra bounce on the right dip in the road, and as far as the brakes go they're not all that old, and the backs usually last a while. I'm on speaker phone with her and the mechanic is there. I asked how much are the shocks, he says $1200 and $600 to put them in, and $600 for the brakes. $2400 for everything. I laughed in the phone. I said not in this lifetime, sell that shit to some Q-tip, not happening. I bought KYB gas adjust shocks for $90 each, they took 10 minutes each to change after the wheels were off, and I did the brakes while I was at it. She had at least 50% of her brake pads left, so they weren't bad, so that was a lie, but I changed them anyway. $220 for parts, and an hours worth of time. Still need to find the noise though. It could be the tires. Fucking dealers..

239 Fire Ant Report:

Until now, overseas transfers of domestically produced finished products have been limited to rescue, transportation, vigilance, surveillance, and minesweeping (the so-called "five types"), but with this amendment, in principle, all defense equipment can be transferred.

As the security environment becomes increasingly difficult, no country can now protect its own peace and security with just one country...partner countries are expressing their expectations for the defense equipment that Japan is developing under the concept of "exclusive defense."

Meeting these needs and transferring defense equipment will contribute to improving the defense capabilities of these countries and ultimately preventing conflict from occurring, thereby ensuring Japan's security...

Back in the day you could find 40 acre parcels for 10 or 20 grand. Hard to find now. I've been eyeballing a place called Yerrington for a while now. 10 acres for about $20,000 is more the going rate. There was a guy selling 40s for $5,000 a few years ago out on I80 between Button Point and Golconda but I think he passed away.
The property is weird out here. The railroads got paid in land so there are checkerboards all along wherever there was track laid. A lot of the private property is landlocked by federal property.

We once were in Salinas on the hottest temp of the day in the USA...120. Car overheated on new road Driving from the Intermountain West to MS, married 1yr.

I nearly overheated, & was busy keeping our husky/malamute/German shepherd doggie alive...feeding her ice from the cooler. She was super hot & I had to force it on her. Normally she would have wanted to be barking & biting strangers.

My husband did something & we decided to quit driving early for the day. Found the first motel & it had blissful A/C. Our pup lay down & was in heaven, as were we, in the AC. Watched black & white TV...I think Andy Griffith...in nirvana. Got something for dinner & left the next morning under cooler weather & a tornado warning.

Here's a song I like for the road, and may the road not rise up to meet you if you are going too fast (as I tended to do in my prime).Favorite by this band.

Hope Ace feels better soon and the US Navy and Marines take out all the IRGC barbarians soon.

Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow. I will have a good one with 7mo old baby grandgirl all to myself, husband and tulips.

But nowadays, with the surveillance on us everywhere, with my luck I'd run the car up to a smooth 100 and get a huge ticket in the mail.

I do believe the main purpose of modern traffic enforcement is to identify and catch the people who they figure will pay the ticket. Perhaps the insurance companies kick back some of the money from the following rate hike even if what brought the ticket caused no claim to be filed by anyone.

While the Glans booster re-use and barge landing was a success, the 2nd stage failed to get the payload in the proper orbit. That comms satellite is now unusable and will have to be de-orbited to burn up.

The payload was fully insured. I wonder just how much payload insurance costs for experimental rockets?

as for "women pastors", I've known some very good ones. But there are a higher percentage that go for 'sounds good' theology. I think, man or woman, regardless of your denomination, we need to remember to not only love the sinner, but to teach the sinner to hate their sin.

have realistic expectations, don't expect to duplicate a good professional crust. Just want mine less chewy. They do vary from one to the other, some better. Pretty much keep same technique (either pastry blender or food processor), everything's very cold, etc. I'll just keep experimenting, including trying shortening again (half shortening/half butter)
- - - - -
Blend flour and shortening with a fork. Use the least amount of water that you can (flour + water = glue), and roll it out on a pastry cloth.

I'm actually pulling for Blue Origin now, really. Competition is good, the more the merrier, and we're gonna need 'em all if we're gonna pull off the Moon landing and Moon base.

Bezos is working on a lander dubbed Blue Moon (I think I would've named it Alice), and they plan a text flight with landing around Shackleton Crater, maybe this year, although I think it will be at least 2027.

Elon's Starship HLS has some delays, and competition from Bezos will help to get their asses -- all their asses -- in gear to do this right.

I warehoused and delivered equipment for AT&T in the mid-late 70s. Worked for a moving, storage, rigging, company. There was one fallout Long Lines facility 40 feet underground in the middle of Harriman State Park in Rockland County, NY. Everything was delivered by a hoist down a shaft. Very little visible above ground, just a little stone building that fit into the Park building motif. Gravel road, don't think many people even notice it.

Was putting up temporary partitions for a job to start there. Wasn't any BS or tomfoolery going on down there.

It's been years since I inhaled. (Never did edibles.) Just gave up because it wasn't doing anything for me anymore. That allegedly dangerous "20x better than grampaw's pot" was ditch weed compared to the Acapulco Gold, Jamaican Red, Thai Stick, New Mexico Blue, Tulsa Tops, and Killer Brazilian 'way back in the day. Anyway, really wanted that black Afghani finger hash, and it's probably a good thing that I only found that once.

Fortunately, I can still get good black coffee.

336 Heh, I remember the "chug-a-lug" contests at our annual company picnics! And beer trucks on-site for the event. A whole day in the sun, with sack races and 3-legged races, balloons and games for the children, swimming in the river, live music, food and fun.

Fighting was a no-no, (subject to employee disciplinary action) but simply "being drunk" while there, wasn't... Just don't try to drive. Most people were cool; very few problems for years & years.

And then came MADD. No more beer trucks, no alcohol of any kind allowed at the event. People said F it and stopped attending. The picnics ceased.
