I believe neither of these things. I do believe they've said these things, but I think they're lying.
But this nevertheless newsworthy because it shows that Iran is scared and desperate. They are always pretending that they're in the cat-bird seat and #winning the war, somehow, even as they're all hiding inside mosques. To even speak these lies shows their weakness: Strong men have no need of lying. They can speak the truth and dar you to object to it. LeMonde: Iran agrees to give up their enriched uranium, insists their nuclear program is "peaceful." At the same time, a 10-day ceasefire came into effect between Israel and Lebanon with Trump saying he expected the two countries' leaders to be at the White House within "four or five days." Hezbollah has not said if it recognizes the ceasefire, but a senior figure said it would respect it if Israeli attacks on the militants stopped. But Israel's army said it was striking Hezbollah rocket launchers after fire from Lebanon shortly before the ceasefire was due to begin. The prime ministers of both countries welcomed the ceasefire, which came days after the US and Iran agreed to a separate truce and as Pakistan pursued diplomatic efforts to arrange a new round of talks between foes Washington and Tehran.
Strait of Hormuz: Iran announced the vital trade chokepoint open to all commercial vessels for the remainder of the ceasefire. US President Donald Trump said Iran committed to never closing the waterway again, but that a US naval blockade will continue until a deal with Iran is "100% complete."
They're also threatening to re-close the Strait if America continues its blockade of Iranian ports:

Bita Hemmati, along with her husband, Mohammadreza Majid-Asl, has been sentenced to death by an Iranian court in connection with the January protests in Tehran. Hemmati will be the first female protester executed. On Thursday, Dr. Sheila Nazarian, a doctor whose family fled Iran when she was a child, spoke to Fox News Channel's Bill Hemmer. Nazarian provided grisly details about what happens to women who are convicted of "crimes against God" and sentenced to death. The fate of Hemmati and her husband is just the latest round of executions since the uprising began in January. Hemmer gave a grim tally of what continues to happen in Iran. If you get some that hang around with you, you can also give them shiny jingly things like earrings from the Dollar store. They use those as a sort of love gift to their mates.
If you really are interested in luring the crows in, when you hike around your neighborhood, take a pocket full of walnuts, and toss them out when you see a crow. They are wicked smart and may decide to track you home to find out "where the nuts are"
I had one crow spot me a good three miles away from where I used to walk and feed the crows, and he was delighted to see me, even in different clothes and hat.

Trump's actions over the past few weeks have probably "only" kicked the can down the road, but he has kicked it a lot further than ever before, thanks to his actually following through with his threats, and without blowing pallets of cash on bribes to the same old regime.
If gas prices drop sharply over the next few months and return to their early 2026 average by midterms, I'll feel a lot more optimistic about our chances of retaking the House.
I feel like this war has taken all our attention away from domestic issues. Hopefully we can return to that over the summer. Pass the SAVE act, for crying out loud.

Iraq was bad enough but Iran is vast which means logistic problems in supply, etc. apart from regime dead enders trying to kill our soldiers at remote firestations and transporting supplies.
It was never in the cards for a full scale invasion. But, we can easily destroy Kharg Island infrastructure by massive bombing and take out their remaining electrical infrastructure and industry if needed.
The fate of Iranians there always was going to rest on internal overthrowing of the regime, not us.

Iran split their command and control precisely for a situation like this. The idea was they could continue to operate independently without any command authority telling them the battle plan. The weakness is of course that strategy depended on them all singing from the same sheet of music. They are not. You have some elements who want to adopt are harder line and are out of synch with what’s left of leadership. This will continue to be a problem and someone will probably have to play whack a mole. Iran is famous for not following through on their agreements. They will try to string this out and call on the Chinese and Russians to help out. But in the meantime Mossad and the CIA are ramping up support and weapons for the various insurgent groups. The irregular warfare now has to outstrip the negotiation process to the point the IRGC is finished. We shall see.

The military isn't the weak link, it's the lack of political will...which is probably healthy and justified by the American public. Land invasion shouldn't be taken lightly.

Trump’s blockade of the blockade of the strait was genius. Of course the original blockade wasn’t really one but traffic was down for insurance reasons or whatever. But then he imposed a real genuine blockade (because the US Navy is awesome) and it doesn’t seem like a coincidence that very soon thereafter Iran seems anxious for a deal.

Basically if it went beyond the last two weeks of May and Iran was still the top story, it clearly meant that Trump had miscalculated or lost control somewhere. At the moment we are right on schedule for Trump just being Trump.

Also, while I do plan on retiring soon, I dont plan on dying soon, so I will need some weight in stocks still. Bond returns, even junk, are still pretty weak compared to inflation.

If we obtain the nuke enriched material or have someone else like the Russians take charge of it and don't pay a thin dime to rebuild Iran, then the sheer economic mess of it will take a long time before they can get back to the ability to get a nuke directly. China, Russia, or Pakistan could have always slipped them a nuke all along but haven't.
No reason for any of them to do that after we decamp either. They don't want to be nuked either much.

My husband was bringing in two hanging baskets of fuschia off the front porch to the garage due to freezing weather and snow.
He noticed a bird's nest in one, and then placed this basket (without touching eggs or nest) in three different places under a Japanese maple to protect the eggs from snow. I said no to under the tree as I feared something would eat the eggs. Then he put the baseket in the original place.
This morning he noticed that Mama Bird has returned because the eggs are in a different place in the nest and a flower bud that had fallen into the nest has been removed. We think the bird is a finch or a chickadee.
There is a step stool on the front porch for his spying and he announced he is getting a camera now for our grands (and him) to watch the progress.
While I am thankful I married a kind man, I think he's a bit nuts at times...which is also good.

Glad someone noted this above, but a lieutenant - a second lieutenant no less - and two senior NCOs are not senior IRGC operatives. The lieutenant probably was just getting his boots muddy. Either senior NCO was probably more important to the IRGC than the lieutenant, except for the possibility that the IRGC is that type of military where connections matter more than competence.
