Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Iran Claims They Have Completely Opened the Strait of America, Claims They're Ready to Turn Over All Uranium and Give Up Their Nuclear AmbitionsI believe neither of these things. I do believe they've said these things, but I think they're lying. But this nevertheless newsworthy because it shows that Iran is scared and desperate. They are always pretending that they're in the cat-bird seat and #winning the war, somehow, even as they're all hiding inside mosques. To even speak these lies shows their weakness: Strong men have no need of lying. They can speak the truth and dar you to object to it. LeMonde: Iran agrees to give up their enriched uranium, insists their nuclear program is "peaceful." Except that during the talks before Epic Fury, they boasted they could make 11 nuclear bombs within a week if they chose to.You can share an article by clicking on the share icons at the top right of it.CNN: Iran declares Strait of America "completely open." Strait of Hormuz: Iran announced the vital trade chokepoint open to all commercial vessels for the remainder of the ceasefire. US President Donald Trump said Iran committed to never closing the waterway again, but that a US naval blockade will continue until a deal with Iran is "100% complete." They're also threatening to re-close the Strait if America continues its blockade of Iranian ports: If the US continues its naval blockade, Iran will consider it a ceasefire violation and close the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state media Fars reported on Friday. That's weird, the leftwing propaganda media, including CNN, insisted that America's counter-blockade wasn't working at all. And yet here's Iran begging for an end to the blockade. Almost as if it's crippling them. As Rachel Zegler would say: Weird, weird! I don't believe that any agreement these monsters sign is worth anything. The only way we will achieve our objectives is through regime change. So this is very hopeful news: Iranian patriots are TCOB themselves. As a hippie would say: Be the Regime Change You Want to See in the World. M.A. Rothman These are new assassinations. These took place in Saravan, near the Pakistani border, while the car-bombs and assassination-by-stabbings I mentioned earlier this week took place in Tehran. And these are just the ones that have been confirmed. Bita Hemmati, along with her husband, Mohammadreza Majid-Asl, has been sentenced to death by an Iranian court in connection with the January protests in Tehran. Hemmati will be the first female protester executed. On Thursday, Dr. Sheila Nazarian, a doctor whose family fled Iran when she was a child, spoke to Fox News Channel's Bill Hemmer. Nazarian provided grisly details about what happens to women who are convicted of "crimes against God" and sentenced to death. The fate of Hemmati and her husband is just the latest round of executions since the uprising began in January. Hemmer gave a grim tally of what continues to happen in Iran. According to Iran HRM, a human rights group, since the beginning of the war, there were 341 executions in January, 307 in February, but only eight were reported in March since the regime shut off the internet for a total of 656.Bonus: ![]() Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

One small question - how is he going to enforce it? Nobody who owns a luxury condo in New York buys it under their own name - it's all trusts and LLCs. Also, if I were Griffin, I'd just have someone from my firm live in the condo, who would move to a hotel when I wanted to use the condo. Enforcement will be fun to watch. In the past, weaker presidents have tried to kick the "nuclear Iran" can down the road either by making empty threats or by bribing them. Both actions resulted in nothing to change Iran's strategy or timetables.
Trump's actions over the past few weeks have probably "only" kicked the can down the road, but he has kicked it a lot further than ever before, thanks to his actually following through with his threats, and without blowing pallets of cash on bribes to the same old regime. Perhaps most infamous was the scandal surrounding a book that [Jim] Wright published as Majority Leader in 1984, Reflections of a Public Man. A collection of Wright speeches, the book did not seem likely to be a hot seller. But Wright nevertheless negotiated a 55 percent royalty for himself on all copies sold. Before long, those who wished to ingratiate themselves with Wright were buying in bulk. One man later admitted to buying 1,000 copies “just trying to make a contribution to Jim’s income.” This was most definitely legal—limits on outside income had an exception for book royalties—but it stank of corruption.
Gavin Newsom just used his own PAC to buy $1.5 million worth of his own book. Even more comically, that accounts for 2/3 of the entire print sales. Posted by: SMOD at April 17, 2026 12:34 PM (RHGPo) 97

This is an underrated point. Part of Trump's entire reason for going to war was to kick Iran in the dick, repeatedly, so the rest of the world could watch their simping impotence as they whined and moaned and begged for mommy on the bathroom floor. Iran was the bully in the middle east for decades. But a bully relies very heavily on the perception that he's big and strong and tough. If you crack that perception, the bully collapses. Most of us know that back in school, you didn't have to beat the bully in a fight to win. You only had to hurt him. Iran split their command and control precisely for a situation like this. The idea was they could continue to operate independently without any command authority telling them the battle plan. The weakness is of course that strategy depended on them all singing from the same sheet of music. They are not. You have some elements who want to adopt are harder line and are out of synch with what’s left of leadership. This will continue to be a problem and someone will probably have to play whack a mole. Iran is famous for not following through on their agreements. They will try to string this out and call on the Chinese and Russians to help out. But in the meantime Mossad and the CIA are ramping up support and weapons for the various insurgent groups. The irregular warfare now has to outstrip the negotiation process to the point the IRGC is finished. We shall see.

Speaking of Iranian allies, Mandami says ================ That pied-a-terre tax makes zero sense to me. How do you determine pied-a-terre rather than permanent residency status, anyway? Number of days/year a person spends in their NY residence? Number of consecutive days? How do you find out? I'm guessing self-reporting (lolol, Somali Americans would have a blast with that), but even if you did spot-checks, how would you audit or confirm it? And anyway, the rationale is silly -- "they use our services but don't pay for them," says Mamdani. lol the whole complaint about a pied-a-terre is that the owners are NOT there -- they don't use fire department services because they're not there being set aflame in the subway, they don't use police services because they're not there being shot in the street, not using museums and libraries etc. I typed all this on the ONT and someone reminded me: taxes are not about paying for social services. Tubal,
We simply do not have the Army necessary right now to put boots on the ground in an invasion. In many ways, just the opposite. We've been shifting from counterinsurgency to large scale combat operations posture for some time. The military isn't the weak link, it's the lack of political will...which is probably healthy and justified by the American public. Land invasion shouldn't be taken lightly. I've recently been re-reading the first of Churchill's war memoirs. The introduction to 'The Gathering Storm' is something that ought to be read by every diplomat/politician. The absolute neglect by allied leaders to directly address the toxic evolving power of German leaders in the aftermath of WWI was enabling of the soon-to-be horrors of WWII.
Posted by: Mike Hammer ======= The stupid wastage of men and wealth in WWI made those in the Allies that survived it prefer anything but war. Unfortunately, Germans did not feel that way (and I discount the Versailles Treaty harshness as the French were more abominably treated by the Germans in the Franco Prussian war along with the crushing reparations that funded the German state's war machine going forward. "The indemnity was 5 billion francs, with German troops occupying France until it was paid. The 5 billion gold marks, converted using the retail price index in 2011, was worth 342 billion. Converted using the GDP deflater it amounted to 479 billion and substantially more according to other comparisons such as GDP per capita." Posted by: whig at April 17, 2026 01:06 PM (E4rtv) 272

271 I've recently been re-reading the first of Churchill's war memoirs. The introduction to 'The Gathering Storm' is something that ought to be read by every diplomat/politician. The absolute neglect by allied leaders to directly address the toxic evolving power of German leaders in the aftermath of WWI was enabling of the soon-to-be horrors of WWII.

260 Why make a deal with a regime that looks as something as basic as the Vienna Convention of 1961 the same way the rest of us look at toilet paper?
Posted by: Cow Demon Because our interest in that war is primarily to prevent Iran from getting nukes and promoting terrorism abroad. It is not to change the regime as a formal goal. If we obtain the nuke enriched material or have someone else like the Russians take charge of it and don't pay a thin dime to rebuild Iran, then the sheer economic mess of it will take a long time before they can get back to the ability to get a nuke directly. Of course now that we see all the feralgov fraud that totally didn't exist, that's not so reassuring. == This is the conventional wisdom. However, in the Biden years in particular, inflation was so awful it forced into higher risk assets to try to keep pace. Also, while I do plan on retiring soon, I dont plan on dying soon, so I will need some weight in stocks still. Bond returns, even junk, are still pretty weak compared to inflation. Another area you can diversify into is dividend based stocks.
They usually grow less then growth focused stocks BUT they give you two ways to earn money - the dividends and the growth. So if you invest in a stable company it can perform a similar role to bonds in your portfolio. Though one thing to keep in mind, the dividends come regularly and are taxable income. Ending Iran's state-supported terrorism through proxy "states" (Houthis and Hezbollah) is an unstated goal. The most astonishing result of this campaign is near-total support of the Gulf states, particularly the UAE, with the US. Dubai released a statement today that left me shaking my head. My husband was bringing in two hanging baskets of fuschia off the front porch to the garage due to freezing weather and snow.
He noticed a bird's nest in one, and then placed this basket (without touching eggs or nest) in three different places under a Japanese maple to protect the eggs from snow. I said no to under the tree as I feared something would eat the eggs. Then he put the baseket in the original place. This morning he noticed that Mama Bird has returned because the eggs are in a different place in the nest and a flower bud that had fallen into the nest has been removed. We think the bird is a finch or a chickadee. There is a step stool on the front porch for his spying and he announced he is getting a camera now for our grands (and him) to watch the progress. While I am thankful I married a kind man, I think he's a bit nuts at times...which is also good. Good luck with your crows, Ace! I guess no varnishing this week? Are you going to varnish the crows? Glad someone noted this above, but a lieutenant - a second lieutenant no less - and two senior NCOs are not senior IRGC operatives. The lieutenant probably was just getting his boots muddy. Either senior NCO was probably more important to the IRGC than the lieutenant, except for the possibility that the IRGC is that type of military where connections matter more than competence.
