Israel, Lebanon Will Observe a Cease-Fire to Discuss a Peace Treaty

lebanonmeetingwithisrael.jpg

Eh, we'll see. The problem is south Lebanon, which is filled with poor and resentful welfare-queens who are also Shia Muslims devoted to Hezballah. Because the poor, non-working welfare queens of the south need to be subsidized, the north of Lebanon sends them aid and food, but Hezballahs seizes the aid and distributes it under the Hezballah banner, out of Hezballah offices. The idiot Shia poors all think, then, that this largess comes from Hezballah.

It does not. It comes from the people in the north -- Christians, Druze, Sunni Muslims -- and is simply stolen by Hezballah.

And of course Iran pays the Hezballah terrorists, too. Syria used to as well, but Syria has mostly collapsed so I don't know how much Syria is paying to Hezballah any longer.

Most of Lebanon would like to live in peace -- but the Iran-funded, Hezballah-loyal Shias in the south won't let them. And the north of Lebanon just won't do the obvious thing, which is to separate completely from the south and declare both areas their own separate countries. I don't know why. I think it's the kind of family loyalty you have for your wayward, drug-addict, criminal, eternal fuck-up cousins. They're an unending burden but they're family.

I don't have hopes for these "peace" talks. Actual peace would require the north of Lebanon -- Christians, Druze, and Sunni -- taking military action against their own wayward terrorist moron cousins in the south, disarming them, driving out Hezballah. and posting soldiers in the south to keep an eye on the terrorists.

But they have always refused to do that, and I don't see why that would change now.
They don't want to be at war -- but the southern Shias do. And the weird thing is, it's the people who want to be at war who get to decide if you're at war or not.

I doubt it but I guess there's hope.

Meanwhile...

Iran can't pay it's own thugs now, so they certainly won't be paying the Hezbollah ones. I'm more optimistic. Also, I'm sure Israel has made it clear that they can treat South Lebanon the same way they did Gaza.

31 "I don't have hopes for these 'peace' talks."

I'm more optimistic. I think there's been a sea change in the middle east that even the retarded moron cannibals in the south will recognize. If nothing else, there will be much less money around to fund all this barbarism.

Iran has been raped in the prison shower by the entire cell block and left bleeding out of its asshole on the bathroom floor. Iran has to worry about itself now. It will have less geedis to spread around to fund terror.

USAID money almost certainly funded a lot of the ME dysfunction too. That's dead.

I think it's a different world, with a new sheriff in town, and most of the countries in the ME seem to get this.

39 Would have been better to announce the "ceasefire" after Israel completes its operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Of course, Israel and Lebanon already have a long-standing ceasefire between them, with the conflict occurring between Israel and Hezbollah, not involving the Lebanese military.

But the Lebanese government is too weak to assert its sovereignty against Hezbollah, even though the latter is no longer supported by Syria since the fall of Assad at the end of 2024, while Iran still provides some support but is rather preoccupied at the moment.

It doesn't matter that they're the pathetic beggars in this relationship, us paying money to them is seen by them as a victory, as something to be proud of.

Thomas Jefferson understood that the Barbary Pirates saw the bribes that Europeans were paying them as tributes, while the Europeans saw them as nuisance payments. The pirates were so pathetic that our young navy was able to take them down, but they considered themselves as our overlords.

Lebanon had long, brutal civil war from 1975 to 1990. It included foreign intervention, notably the 1983 bombing of the USMC barracks in Beirut and the capture of US hostages.

Lebanon is a proxy battleground that includes regional and global proxies. i don't blame them for avoiding another internecine conflict. That wouldn't stop religious/ethnic communities from inviting outside actors to do the dirty work, however.

103 Pope Leo is doing Pope Leo things. I'm confident he will put his foreign policy in order and adjust. Every Pontiff does that over time.

This was one of the better responses to the papal idjit.

I have been pretty emphatic the last few days in condemning Pope Leo’s foray into American politics.

My detractors are having fun stating that I am doing this out of allegiance to President Trump and that I have chosen Trump over God.

WRONG.

The biggest reason by far why I am so vocal on this is the damage Pope Leo is doing to the Catholic Church in the USA.

I believe Pope Leo has done more to harm US Catholicism in just a few days than any other Pope of the past 100 years (even Francis).

Pope Leo is literally causing orthodox, faithful American Catholics to flee the Church out of disgust over his leftwing politicization and his kowtowing to Islam. Moreover, he has opened the door for boundless criticism against Catholicism from certain Protestant denominations and churches, causing untold harm to Christian ecumenism in the USA.

The real negotiations are happening in Pakistan, expect a new round in the next few days, if things go well there, it will automatically be extended here until a full agreement is reached

Have you considered that Iran is forcing the US and Israel into ceasefire? And so for them to get ahead of such a failure. They drive the narrative that they are behind the ceasefire actually ...

So the strategy is whenever Istael want to force a country to do something they will always attack and usa will come in to..cease it? So you guys are always at the mercy of israel again and again?

There was a ceasefire before. Israel couldn't last 48 hours before they started bombing claiming "hezb" positions and infrastructure. They are literal demons that have unchecked power that no one will ever dare to say they violate, and they will never be punished.

Thanks for posting that. I read it earlier today and have been cogitating over what has been happening between the Trump Administration and the Holy See.

1) The Left loves this. The MSM has been playing it up 24/7. They hate the Church and they hate President DJT in almost equal measures and are doing everything possible to undermine both.

2) The Catholic Church is the Universal Church. Christians are being persecuted all over the world, mainly in Communist and countries with Islamist governments. We don't hear much about their plight in the MSM, but boy howdy, Pope Leo needs to condemn US action against Iran because the MSM hates DJT. Does Pope Leo's message for global peace get covered? Hahahaha.

For the Church, there is no Left or Right - there is only Christ.

189 >>> I believe Pope Leo has done more to harm US Catholicism in just a few days than any other Pope of the past 100 years (even Francis).

There is doctrine/scripture, and there is policy, and there is personal belief. Leo is not the only religious church leader to get his personal beliefs confused with policy and doctrine.

It is sad to see, though. I'm not Catholic, but a vibrant Christian church of any denomination, leading souls to God's light and love, is a net plus for the world. It is sad to see that vibrancy tarnished with personal or political pettiness from the top brass.

234 Irrespective, the end result is that Democrats were able to cause controversy among the faithful in an attempt that is ultimately meant to undermine Jesus Christ. That’s where this begins and ends, and politics is simply the vehicle by which that was accomplished.

The pope has unfortunately been either a willing participant in that effort, or he was duped into it. Either way, he loses, not the church.

The Catholic Church is ultimately the cathedral of Jesus Christ. It’s bigger than any one man, pope or not. But this will incident will color any of his ex cathedra statements- badly. He’s a man of obvious biases that are applied unevenly based on whether he agrees with their political tendencies.

242 >>> "I don't really understand ( post 103) why a person would flee the church because of what Pope Leo said."

Well, in religion people get outraged over the dumbest things. But I do see their beef.

My church has members outraged right now, because the official LDS church social media made ONE post sharing an anecdote of a couple where the wife is in medical school and the husband supports her doing this. The biggest outcry seems to be coming from the LDS tradwife stay-at-home moms, funnily enough. That the "no success can compensate for failure in the home," "stay at home and raise your babies" push from the leaders has somehow been betrayed by this one post.

Never mind these ladies have not actually studied their own history. The pioneer women that settled the Salt Lake Valley were total badasses, and ran things like a boss, because you have to. If everyone doesn't chip in out in the desert, however they can, everyone dies. Women ran granaries and hospitals and businesses and printing presses, and were doctors, and no one batted an eye. They need to get off the tradwife influencer blogs and crack open a pioneer history book.

Also, since you're a RC, I recommend reading "The Joy of Full Surrender" by Jean Pierre De Caussaude ( 1675-1751) He was a Jesuit priest and that particular book is so uplifting and so centered on the love of Christ and his love for humanity humanity it will make you feel better, I bet. 250 Lebanon had long, brutal civil war from 1975 to 1990.

TBF Jesus "told us" is not the same as a quote. Its sorta of typical liberal madlib bible non quote the sort of shinola that Jugears used to serve up. I'm not defending it on its merits.
To be completely honest, it reminds me of that time in when the head of the Sanhedrin actually prophesied inadvertently that Jesus was the savior. (somebody here will know it)

A new CBS poll found that 58% of weekly Mass-attending Catholics approve of President Trump’s job performance overall.

Not surprising, as these are the Catholics taking the faith seriously rather than just bearing the title.

Catholics understand that President Trump is by and large getting the policy right.

-------

Oh, look.

Trump's approval with Catholics is right in line with his elevated performance in the 2024 election (he won 56% as opposed to the normal 48-52% GOP candidates get from the Catholic voting bloc over the past few decades).

Weird.

I am arguably the most consequential national security reporter in the United States of America today.

Over the past year, my work has lead to the removal of the Director and Deputy Director of the National Security Agency (NSA), the removal of the Director of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, the removal of the Director and Deputy Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the removal of several other lower level Department of War officials.

My reporting has also led to over 40 Deep State, communist, and Jihadi officials having their security clearances revoked, including Maher Bitar. Additionally, I got the Gaza visa program shut down, I got Hunter Biden and Ashley Biden’s Secret Service details revoked, and I also got Qasem Soleimani’s niece and grand niece arrested by ICE. They will soon be deported. I also got the DOJ @PamBondi to pressure the Big Tech app stores to DELETE all ICE tracking apps from their App Stores after I tracked down the founders of the apps and exposed every ICE tracking app in the App Store.

312 I am proud of this work which saved the lives of @ICEgov agents and @DHSgov officials.

I do this work with less than 4 staffers and an incredibly modest annual budget. On top of this, I produce 6 hours of live content every week for my @rumblevideo show.

I have—per capita—far more impact on national security policy and policy debate than any individual major media company in the United States. Despite my success, I will not be invited to the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner. I will not appear on Fox News, OANN, or NewsMax. I will not collect millions in ad revenue from YouTube or X. I will not score major endorsement deals.
I am still banned from monetizing my YouTube and banned on Facebook, PayPal, Venmo, GoFundMe, and CashApp.

I do this work because I am a proud American patriot and I am loyal to President Donald Trump and his MAGA vision which makes America safer.

Loyalty matters!

The A-10 is old and becoming a hanger queen although designed to be the opposite.

The AT-802U Air Tractor is much cheaper, deployable to deplorable landing strips, and fits better to modern special warfare needs.

Doesn't have the cool cannon, but the tanks that was installed to destroy don't seem to last long on the battlefield these days.

320 About the previous post:

Dunning Kruger tells us that the bottom 10% of any field are more confident than the top 10% of the field. That is true of Humanity as a whole. Bigots are the bottom 10% of humanity. Bigots are positive that they have all of the answers to any problem mankind faces. That is why they fight so hard to run things. In fact Bigots have no answers for anything. The Democrat party is the home of the self assured Bigots of the world; they have no answers, only self assured violence to force their way into command of every thing. They need to be stepped on and crushed before their Bigotry destroys everything else.

The A-10 and its guns were to kill heavy armored tanks. Back in WWII they found that medium bombers with gobs of 50 cal guns could chew up destroyers and cargo ships which is all we are facing in the Gulf now.

You could swap out the GAU for like 6 50 calibers and ammo pretty easily. But tanks have been called dead sine before ww2 and they keep not being dead.

335 Oldcat, credit this guy for inventing the modern gunship. Started out as enlisted Navy aviation mechanic in WWI, became a pilot as enlisted and instructed Naval aviators at Pensacola, retired to setup an airline in the Philippines Islands in 1939. After the Japanese invasion, his family was taken to a concentration camp and Pappy Gunn with his planes flew out VIPS to Australia. Reenlisted but this time in the Army. He did what the tech guys thought was impossible due to his intimate understanding of aircraft. He also flew all his innovations first rather than leave them for others to risk.

Paul Irvin "Pappy" Gunn (October 18, 1899 – October 11, 1957) was a former United States naval aviator known mainly for his actions in the Second World War as an officer in the United States Army Air Forces. He was known as "an expert in dare-devil low-level flying," and recognized for numerous feats of heroism and mechanical ingenuity, especially modifications to the Douglas A-20 Havoc light bomber and B-25 Mitchell medium bomber that turned them into attack aircraft.

In addition to the DFC x2, Gunn was also awarded the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Air Medal and 9 Purple Hearts.

337 A difference in a Lebanese peace plan this time around might be that a number of Middle East countries, P.O.d at being bombed by Iran, have opened their banks' books to Bessent at US Treasury. His move here is to at least freeze, if not outright impound, Iranian funds in these countries. That might make Iran's continued funding of Hezbollah a bit tricker than it's been.
