I just watched the new Street Fighter trailer. I am rooting for Raul Julia to rise from his grave, don his M Bison attire, and eradicate everyone involved with this movie. Why? One song in the trailer - "What's Going On" And Jackie Chan did a better Chun-Li than whomever this actress is. https://youtu.be/RKAG1kiDUYM And I just noticed the US flag on Guile's bicep; the stripes are leading. I'm tired of writing reports. I would guess 55% of my lifespan will have been devoted to undoing microsoft word auto f'ups. I turn off all the auto stuff and it still does more.
And the thing that reeeeeealy gets me riled up is the time it takes microsoft word to perform a whole complex series of sudden and tragically stupid auto-f'ups it chose to perform? Less than one point zero femtoseconds. The time it takes microsoft word to simply undo that f-up after I immediately hit ctrl-z? A long damned time. I knew that putting away the extension cord that runs to the horse trough for the tank heater last Saturday would increase the odds of snow and freezing temps. I did it anyway. We won't get any snow accumulation, hopefully will get a bit of moisture into the soil, but its supposed to be 24F tomorrow night. But then warm back to 60F on Saturday so I'll probably just break ice Saturday morning.

Pope Leo drops this line in Cameroon
"Jesus told us, 'Blessed are the peacemakers,' but woe to those who manipulate religion in the very name of God for their own military, economic, or political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth." - Note that the Pope is deliberately attempting to deceive there. Firstly, the "woe to" does appear elsewhere in the Gospel but the rest of the phrase does not, but a careless listener might assume that whole paragraph to be quoting Christ. Secondly, the listener might reasonably assume in context that the Pope is claiming that *someone*, likely the President, is guilty of the rest of the statement, when there's no case at all to be made that he is. The Pope's islamic buddies are of course all over that sort of thing. Posted by: Methos at April 16, 2026 08:54 PM (vSvIl) 73

Here in Houston, TX, we usually have to start running the A/C around the middle of March. The notion of freezing temps after 15March is absurd.
The notion of a low temp in August below 80 is equally absurd. Posted by: Bonecrusher at April 16, 2026 09:09 PM (7aGEe) I'm living the opposite. My AC has been running for a few days now. You never see high 80's/90 in jersey in march. Usually the AC don't come on steady until later may. Its going back down to the 40's-50's here next week, thank god. I got shit to do outside. Finally got my Ranger gassed up and jumped to drive it out and about, and it died about two miles outside of town.
I had it towed, and it might be bad filters and bad gas, and it might be a bad alternator, or it could just be the poor thing is possessed. Being possessed would explain why the windshield wipers stop working when it rains and the automatic windows roll down a half inch, sometimes, when I put it in reverse. It did snow this morning, but it melted off. We still have about 8 inches in the back yard, but the grass is greening up over the septic tank, so there's that.
Should be in the garden by the end of next week, just digging, not planting. Greenhouse will start up in a couple of weeks. Planting outside will start mid-May. Yes, it snows in April up here. Regularly. But not seriously. Posted by: tcn in AK at April 16, 2026 09:25 PM (DwqWV) 121

We're in SLC this evening. Ran into a snow squall right at the edge of town. The rest of the drive was nice. We went through Jackpot NV to I 80. A bit of truck traffic but i's so flat that they were never an issue. 84 through SE Idaho sucks due the hills and curves.

Posted by: BarelyScaryMary at April 16, 2026 09:24 PM (cS3Fw) DH bought studded tires last fall, and got rid of his summer tires, because they were shot. Now we have to purchase more summer tires, and it ain't cheap for that beast of a truck. I don't have studs on my car tires. Don't really need them. But it is nice to have the studs on the truck if it gets particularly icy. Posted by: tcn in AK at April 16, 2026 09:28 PM (DwqWV) Posted by: TecumsehTea at April 16, 2026 09:28 PM (nz1sK) 125

Posted by: RI Red What's a snow tire? People drive in snow? Posted by: BarelyScaryMary They're tires for people who drive where there is both snow and hills. Minnesotans don't usually bother; it's flat enough that normal tires work. If they don't, you'll need a plow blade on the front of your vehicle, too. And if we didn't drive in snow, we'd have to winterize our cars and not use them six months of the year. Posted by: mikeski at April 16, 2026 09:33 PM (VHUov) 135
