The Morning Report -- 4/ 16/26

Spanlucha.jpg

Good morning kids. Hoping that you all had at least a little carfare in your pockets that the shakedown artists at the IRS missed yesterday. In any case, the Democrats in California are smelling blood and flatus in the water as they circle the political carcass of Eric Swalwell. As the estimable Miranda Devine reminds us, the only reason he's gone is they are fearful of the possibility that the GOP could in theory, thanks to that state's fercockter electoral system wind up actually winning the Governorship. regardless of the mass of illegal aliens, dead people and deadbeats and Democrat election thievery.

Eric Swalwell was Nancy Pelosi’s made man, the golden child of San Francisco’s rotten machine politics.
Today he’s roadkill, his name erased from the sign outside his congressional office, vultures feasting on his remains.
Swalwell’s clinical political eradication this week tells you everything about the Democratic Party and how ruthlessly and efficiently they will move to keep to power in the state they have controlled for 15 years and run into the ground.
California, our most populous and richest state, is the engine of their vast patronage system, fueled in part by illegal migration and social services fraud that has ripped tens, perhaps hundreds, of billions of dollars off the taxpayer and recycled it through unions and “grassroots” donations back into the party.
That’s why Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, calls California the “kingdom of fraud” as he confronts massive organized ripoffs of Medicaid, home health services and hospice care... Illegal migration, turbocharged under Joe Biden by his Homeland Security secretary, California hit man Alejandro Mayorkas, also served the machine well, by artificially inflating the state’s census counts and enabling voter fraud.
The census inflation led to extra House seats for California and more electoral votes, and thus more power in presidential elections.
In return, the machine sponsors and protects useful buffoons like Swalwell, who was one of “Pelosi’s boys” from the minute he threw his hat into national politics as a 31-year-old San Francisco councilman with a mischievous grin and a lackluster legal career behind him.

Yes the ramifications are indeed national and so Swalwell had to go, lest the Democrats lose more than just a statehouse and control of one state, albeit a massive and important one.
Sadly the cancer of Democrat Leftism has metastasized all over the place, and while California, regardless of its electoral system is most likely a lost cause barring some sea change in the societal/political landscape that might happen (I am not holding my breath), the Democrats have a very deep and dark bench, including the absolutely horrendous Tom Steyer.

Meanwhile 3000 miles or so to the east, we have this blonde beast to contend with, who likely has national aspirations for national socialism as this trio of links indicates
https://freebeacon.com/campus/moderate-governor-abigail-spanberger-signs-bill-forcing-virginia-schools-to-consider-restorative-disciplinary-practices-before-suspending-students/

'Moderate' Governor Abigail Spanberger Signs Bill Forcing Virginia Schools To Consider 'Restorative Disciplinary Practices' Before Suspending Students

Such practices include a 'restorative circle,' a 'centuries-old indigenous practice' in which participants sit in a circle to discuss their actions

Then... She goes Gun Crazy, Quelle Surprise?!

The DOJ’s warning signals potential federal litigation, challenging the constitutionality of the Virginia Democrats’ proposed laws. Pro-Second Amendment critics of the legislation argue the measures could restrict firearms commonly used for lawful purposes, while proponents of gun control, including Spanberger, have attempted to frame the legislation as necessary to address gun violence.

Turd and finally...

By signing this compact, Spanberger has agreed to hand Virginia’s 13 electoral votes to whichever presidential ticket wins the national popular vote.

Now you can see how crucial it is for the Dems that there isn't even a sliver of an iota of a scintilla of a chance that they lose control of California. But then again, if more states follow VIrginia in handing over their electoral votes to the popular vote winner thus de facto destroying the Electoral College, that's ball game, even if the Golden State should flip Red. Assuming that a GOP candidate even wins the popular vote ever again.

On that cheery note...

Have a great day!

66 Assuming that a GOP candidate even wins the popular vote ever again

Right now the incentive for the Dems is to focus fraud on battlegrounds states and races. This makes it harder because there are generally non-leftists involved in the vote counting.

Now fraud does happen and it is non-trivial in these areas. But...as we've seen in the blue states the left can easily produce millions of fake votes. A political system that would elect the president based on just total votes counted when then mean they could move their fraud to the deepest blue districts - where you would see absurd numbers of mail in ballots suggesting nearly 100%...or more...of eligible voters voted this way - and yes we saw some of this in 2020 so this isn't hypothetical.

This is what I could never quite understand. Yes, Trump has his "trespasses" and many times says things that make me cringe, or at the very least, wish he'd had kept quiet.

But his personal foibles simply do not concern me because they do not personally affect me. What he's doing for the country affects me. And that's all I care about.

Why can't people understand this? It's not the man that affects me. It's his actions. Not. Rocket. Science.

98 Wretchard bringing insight to the Pope's sparring with Trump:

As I remarked elsewhere, while most politicians deal with Christianity by ignoring it or uttering pieties they neither mean nor understand the exchange between Pope Leo and Donald Trump forces the thoughtful reader to understand the Just War theory, which underpins the mainstream Christian approach to conflict.

Inevitably it requires us to consider not only what Christians believe but what the Islamic equivalent to Just War -- the doctrine of Jihad -- actually teaches. In many ways the two are as different as chalk and cheese. In the first place Christianity is a nonstate religion while Islam aims to be a “universal religion and a universal state”. From this arises a host of differences.
In Just War, the core intention of hostilities is the “righting of wrongs.”. . Heads of states do not go to war with the intention of pleasing God but to do particular things. This is not the case with the Jihad, which clearly states that the core intention to wage war must be to please Allah. Just War is a human creation while Jihad is a divine one.

Like I said, sad it did not happen for Trump's election. That would have sealed its fate.

But now the way it will happen is that it will go into place, a Dem will lose the electoral college but get taken over the top in the national tally by a wave of mail-in California ballot harvesting, and then no one can go to court for it until the Dem is already President. It may be declared unconstitutional, but no way can the courts unroll a Presidential election.

But he’ll fly across continents to make interfaith gestures the week after his people coordinated a media hit on a sitting US president.

150 I don't view Trump's most controversial statements as a problem. I view them as a means to open the apeture of what can be discussed and where lines get drawn.

This Pope, for example, is hyper political and very far left. He literally just met with Obama's wingman and then took shots at Trump and then three cardinals followed up on 60 Minutes. It was blatantly political, organized and anti-Trump. And us.

A normal Republican would have said something wishy washy like "Well that's like just his opinion, man." and gotten rolled. Not Trump. He fired right back and helped expose the hypocrisy of a Pope who says almost nothing when Christians and Iranian citizens are slaughtered.

The attempts by the organized left, and Obama is up to his skinny ass in it, to take down Trump are still going on. We are in a fight for western civilization and the time for pinky out politics is over. Don't give a single inch to any of them, not even fake holy men.

159 No reason for military action in Cuba. Cuba is no longer a military threat of any kind; they don’t even have the fuel needed to keep any of their fighter planes in the air, if they wanted.

Also their electrical grid goes on and off daily, most of the country is without electricity as a regular matter now. As a result, they’re sinking into a humanitarian crisis that could see mass starvation. If the US were to take military action, we’d suddenly be on the hook for feeding 10 million starving people. IMDb-
Born in Flushing, New York, the impressively endowed Patty Jo Harmon was discovered as a guest on You Bet Your Life (1950) by Groucho Marx and later was invited to work with him on Tell It to Groucho (1961). The TV exposure parlayed into roles in such obscure films as Village of the Giants (1965) and more famous fare like Cool Hand Luke (1967), but she was used mostly for eye candy. With only a handful of television appearances to her name, she made a bigger career as a pin-up girl during the late 1960s and early 1970s, but she ultimately retired from acting to get married and start a family. Baking has always been a favorite pastime and she since started Aunt Joy's Cakes. She first started sharing her treats while working at Disney Studios and runs a wholesale bakery based in Burbank, California.

I don't think it would look suspicious at all. That's where the people are. Obviously that's where the votes are going to come from.

The Dems would absolutely own that - Yes, three states decided the election. Because those three states created a majority. Our democracy demands majority rule (but only when we get our way, otherwise, the rights of the minority are paramount).

Then we'll rehash the arguments that created the EC in the first place.

It’s so sad that we’ve lost the plot here. It makes a mockery of a truly invaluable practice.

Every move he makes is countered in spades. Great job pressuring Abbot for a few more seats. California dn Virginia saw your bet and upped the ante.

We're toast. January 2029, it over. Hopefully I've talked my daughter out of having kids, because what's coming will never be reversed.

373 57 52 Threats to the electoral college are very serious IMO. The Dems wanna end it and if they succeed it’ll be very hard for the GOP to ever win the presidency…. Because CA and NY can roll up huge vote totals in their column that are fake using mail-in ballots cheating…. I’m not a lawyer but I wonder if this VA move (our EVs go to the national popular vote winner) is even constitutional?

None of it is likely constitutional, but no one has brought up a challenge yet, at least to the Supreme Court, probably b/c it hasn't come into play yet...

I think they base constitutionality on a constitutional provision which allows "interstate compacts" among the States. I've seen law review articles advocating it. The unanswered question is whether the states can unravel the US Constitution by interstate compacts. My answer would be no. This ploy is meant to create chaos and enhance cheating. Imagine you live in a state which votes for an R prez, but electoral votes go D in popular vote due to cheating in another state. Do you have standing to even challenge the result in the other state?

374 If the popular vote compact becomes effective, watch for some red states to choose electors in some other manner, most likely by the state legislature. The Constitution does not provide for popular vote for presidential electors; only that they be chosen "in such manner as the Legislature thereof may direct" (Article II, Section 1).

375 In high school our assistant principal was a retired Marine Corps major.
Capitol punishment was still en vogue.
When he broke "The Paddle" while vigorously applying it to.the butt of a male factor the woodshop class took great joy in building him a new one with a core of aluminum laminated between two pieces of maple using epoxy.

The next year they eliminated The Paddle and they eliminated the dress code and boxing in PE.
Woodstock and the moon landing were two years prior.
Thinks have been downhill ever since.
