Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Saturday Night Club ONT - April 11, 2026 [The Double Bogeys]![]() From The Masters on X "Call" and "dial" mean the same. But a "booty call" and a "butt dial"? Yeah...not the same thing at all. --------- John O'Reilly hoisted his beer and said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, between the legs of me wife!" That won him the top prize at the pub for the best toast of the night! He went home and told his wife, Mary, "I won the prize for the best toast of the night." She said, "Aye, did ye now? And what was your toast?" John said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, sitting in church beside me wife." "Oh, that is very nice indeed, John!" Mary said. The next day, Mary ran into one of John's drinking buddies on the street corner. The man chuckled and said, "John won the prize the other night at the pub with a toast about you, Mary." She said, "Aye, he told me, and I was a bit surprised myself. You know, he's only been in there twice in the last four years. Once I had to pull him by the ears to make him come, and the other time he fell asleep." ![]() ![]() In 2019, Pizza Hut brought back its 1974 logo, banking on its nostalgic appeal. I figured that would be the end of it, just a simple marketing tactic soon forgotten. There were no plans announced to bring back the logo in stores, much less redesign the restaurants to look like old Pizza Huts from the chain's heyday. But with no fanfare whatsoever, that's exactly what’s been happening. Pizza Hut has been taking legacy stores and converting them into "Classics." The formula includes: 1) The old logo is used in pole signage as well as at the top of the (usually but not always) red-roofed restaurant. The pole sign features the addition of the word "Classic." 2) The interior features cozy red booths and old-school Pizza Hut lamps. 3) Stickers featuring the long-discarded character Pizza Hut Pete are found on the door. 4) Posters feature classic photos from Pizza Huts of yore. 5) A plaque displays a quote from Pizza Hut co-founder Dan Carney, explaining the concept as a celebration of the brand's heritage. ![]() ![]()

Whatever you do please don't try to make an Azalea with equal parts vodka and grenadine, good lord.
1.5oz vodka 4-5oz TART lemonade, not the cloyingly sweet kind .25oz grenadine Otherwise you are drinking an absolute sugar bomb. Posted by: ballistic at April 11, 2026 10:05 PM (oqH4h) 13
Rory did not choke today. He was just average while everybody else that mattered was below average. McElroy is no Tiger Woods in his prime. On the plus side Rory is a much better driver than Tiger at any time. Round four could easily be one of the great Augusta Masters.

I glanced down and was doing 138mph. Fuck me, felt like 80mph. Went to the Alabama science and engineering fair and got to judge 9 finalists in the 9th-to-12th grade engineering division. No deal in Iran. My shocked shows me not surprised. The Iranian regime has had 47 years to metastasize into malignant cancer. It's going to take more than a few bombs to cut that loose.
As a point of comparison, getting complete regime change in Japan and Germany at the end of World War II took something approximating the complete destruction of both countries. It may require making Tehran as flat as Berlin or Tokyo at the end of World War II plus American troops on the streets of Tehran to make sure there is no doubt about Iranian unconditional surrender. I hope the surrender negotiations go better tomorrow, but how do you negotiate with a snake without cutting its head off and making its skin into boots? Evening, Disco and Dino, and ONT Horde! Somehow I managed to goober up the brakes on my '88 Chevy pickup today. Started out innocently enough: right front tire was flat. Took it off, aired it up, put it in water tank, found tiny sidewall leak. Decided new(er) tires would be a good idea, as this set is dated 2013. While wheel was off, noticed that brake pads were well worn. Not worn past the wear indicator, but getting there. Self: "Hey, don't I have a good used set of brake pads?" Well, yes, I sure did. Might as well swap 'em out, so I did. Greased the ball joints and steering linkage, too. Aired up the rear tires, washed the windows, too. I felt so virtuous. Time to go to town, get fuel into it. Well, I made less than a quarter mile before the front brakes locked up. Got it back to the yard, front brakes both smoking hot. Think I must have over-stroked the master cylinder getting the caliper pistons back in place. Hoping a good bleeding job will fix it, or else more work will be needed.

AOP's story reminds me I need to air up the Buick's tires. With the (relatively) cool, or maybe just less hot, weather recently, they are all down to about 33 -- right at the psi recommended on the door jamb plate. But I like to run them about 1-2 psi above, for a little better gas mileage (very little, really, unless it's on the highway). Handling is a fraction improved as well. The trade-off is the slightly firmer ride over the cracked broken streets here.

man - well, if all the pizza around you is bad, then it's no surprise you're not a big pizza fan - you've never had the good stuff. Of course, what "the good stuff is" depends on who you ask... and where... and when... and "true Chicago style" is only pizza-adjacent, they're actually more like pies made of pizza-stuffs.

Thank you for the ONT, boys.
We haven't eaten at Pizza Hut for over 30yrs as my sons & husband got food poisoning from the buffet. Hours later we arrived at the farm & went swimming in the pool. Youngest got out and went soaking wet upstairs, passing his grandparents without a word,& got sick. Other son, who never hit the toilet when harfing, did the same, at least made it to the bathroom. Husband was delayed a bit. I had them all in my former bedroom, now a ward, after the urgent care meds. Would dose 'em up, give them fluids & they'd hear me swimming laps for half our vacation. I should get the logo for them for Christmas.I was smart enough not to get anything from that buffet in Meridian, MS. We saw the WORST movie on earth tonight, & have seen some bad ones. Fondly remembering the cowboy ride to nowhere with no dialogue. We kept watching because we laughed as it was so stupid: Thrash on Netflix. Like a really bad, pathetic attempt at Jaws and Twister all rolled into pathetic insanity. If it was supposed to be serious we missed the plot completely and laughed for most of it. Highly recommend and wonder who in their right mind thought this was any good. Really bad cinema. Relieved (but just slightly, didn't expect anything different) that the negotiations went nowhere. We might get accurate details at some point, not certain, but plausible claims about the Iranian positions confirm these people are truly unhinged. After having their substantial military inferiority, to the point of helplessness, confirmed by devastating attacks that have already ravaged much of their vital assets - they propose to control (close at will) the world's single most economically important international waterway.
WTF? Anyway, fun to ponder what's next. Trump can reiterate his "civilization" ultimatum, with the same requirement (open Strait), with a different deadline. One way would be to make it a practical test. Escort the 5 (I believe) US-flagged ships trapped in the Gulf out. Any attempt to mess with them - blammo. I think Adm. Cooper is familiar with the "big blue blanket" the USN used in the last year+ of WWII against Japan. Some parallels here, in terms of suppressing anti-ship nonsense from Iran mainland. Oh... I had a moment of speculation today, on a company eschewing putting all sorts of warnings on all their products. Particularly since they are almost all the same:
Don't use internally. Don't mix electricity and water. Don't run your cords through the middle of the floor. Don't lick the outlet. Don't play with fire. I thought I could put almost all of the regular ones on a single page and post it on the company website for download, along with a simple warning on all the boxes: "If you don't know enough to not stick a fork in an outlet or use a hair dryer while still in the shower, then you're too dumb to use our products. This is the only warning you'll get. (Go to our website to download all of the standard warnings.) 1/x Posted by: GWB at April 11, 2026 10:51 PM (5nH6u) Posted by: Kindltot at April 11, 2026 10:51 PM (rbvCR) 120

The already slim chance that CA would not have a Dem on the ballot in November is now reduced to essentially zero by Swalwell's timely demise. Which means the chances of a non-Dem winning go down to 1%. And he will be replaced by someone equally absurd and toxic to the country in his district.
I get the excitement over his destruction, as he's a stupid, vile POS (like most Dems are or have become, incredibly). But nothing of importance likely to change. Posted by: rhomboid at April 11, 2026 10:56 PM (U/Byj) 134

Well, then I thought, "How hard can it be to translate that so I could post one for as many languages as possible?" Then I thought how hard it would be to get across the snark and insult in those translations. I know idioms often don't travel well, linguisitcally. So, I thought, "Oh! Let's ask Grok!" So I did. "into how many languages could you translate a warning pamphlet (electricity, fire, etc.) and retain the sense of American snark and idioms?" Grok came back with: "Dozens—realistically 30–50+ where I can keep the American snark mostly alive." 3/x Posted by: GWB at April 11, 2026 10:56 PM (5nH6u) 135

"Why that range? Core competency languages (excellent snark retention): English → Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian especially), Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Turkish, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic (MSA + some dialects), Persian/Farsi, Hindi, Indonesian/Malay, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Taiwanese, etc. In these, I can swap American idioms for culturally equivalent zingers while keeping the original bite, rhythm, and "don't be a dumbass" energy. Solid but slightly softer snark (20–30 more): Languages with less direct overlap in casual sarcasm (e.g., Finnish, Estonian, Icelandic, Swahili, Zulu, Tagalog, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Burmese, Khmer, Lao, Amharic, etc.). The warnings stay clear and warning-y, but the pure American wiseass flavor gets adapted into the closest local equivalent." 4/x Posted by: GWB at April 11, 2026 10:56 PM (5nH6u) 138

American snark adds lines like: "If you lick this outlet, Darwin will smile." "This panel isn't for decoration, genius." "Water + electricity = nature's way of saying 'you're an idiot.'" I can translate that tone by: Finding parallel local idioms ("toast" → German "Brötchen" equivalent, Spanish "churrasco humano", Japanese "yaki-kawa" style burn jokes, etc.) Preserving rhythm and condescension level Keeping it legally responsible while still funny" 5/x Posted by: GWB at April 11, 2026 10:57 PM (5nH6u) 141

Grok, wrapping up:
"Limits Beyond ~50–60 languages it gets dicey: extremely low-resource languages, certain Indigenous ones, or very formal/hierarchical cultures where overt sarcasm reads as rude or confusing rather than helpful. The safety message always survives. The "bless your heart" American snark level drops. Want proof? Drop the actual pamphlet text (or a sample section) and pick target languages. I'll translate a few right now and you can judge how much of the original asshole-American charm survives. How many do you actually need? There was one part that nearly killed me laughing, and I might as well spoil it for everyone as nobody with any sense would watch it. Set in the South, Hurricane with the potential of a CAT 6 a' comin'. Other stuff going on that I won't get into, but 3 plots. The town has really dumb people from what I could tell. Some redneck kids were in a foster home with mean, redneck foster parents. Sharks somehow get meaner during this hurricane vs doing whatever they normally do and show up big time everywhere. The levee breaks. Mean foster parents get eaten. The 3 kids are on a table in the kitchen trying to survive and, I guess, to raise their spirits, say F Mr. Whatever and laugh. Mr. Whatever then pops up out of the flood without an arm asking for help and I cracked up. They later get revenge. It was insane. Really, really bad. Even a part of stolen script from Gone With the Wind birth hysteria written in. Instead of Atlanta burning the floods a' comin' with sharks. We've all been cheated on by our government. And they didn't give a damn about our innocents. The Democrat Party has become a party of demonic, power hungry scumbags who flooded this country with lunatics who killed hundreds if not thousands of innocents, stole identities, jobs, lives. It's becoming obvious Swalwell's actions were well known in DC and they didn't give a damn as long as he was useful sliming innocents on our side. They didn't just discover he was a scumbag today and got outraged. He was going to hurt the vote for governor in CA so his own party crushed him. This is war and they declared it. RE: Pizza Hut
Fast food restaurants can make pretty solid food, but over the decades corporate pressures have destroyed that. The counter example is In-N-Out which refuses to compromise their personal integrity and the professional integrity. Every time you go to those restaurants they are spot clean, the employees are engaged and polite, and the food is spot on good. It is not impossible in modern America to run businesses at a level which we used to experience 50 years ago. The failure to do so is a choice. It sounds like the Strait is being cleared out, 2 destroyers were reported to have sailed through so as long as that can be controlled, bombing can probably be outsourced after President Trump decides to leave. Guess we'll see what his plan is. Posted by: Stateless - He ain't heavy, he's my dog. Old, but full of life. at April 11, 2026 11:51 PM (Sco7b) 254

I saw a pic of Swallwel sitting on a bed in what looked like a hotel room, with a woman other than his wife, who seemed to have lost most of her clothes.

Me. We've been getting played by these murderous scumbags for 50 years. It's past time to end this idiotic game where we always lose to 3rd world gangsters. The Strait was opened earlier today. I'll survive my gas being a bit more expensive for a few weeks. Posted by: JackStraw at April 11, 2026 11:59 PM (viF8m) 264

Direct talks between the two sides lasted some 21 hours in the first meeting of its kind since the war began. But there was no deal to end the war.

90 Million Iranians, Saudi, the UAE and everyone from Bahrain to Lebanon are happy that the US did not get played like we did under obama, biden and the rest of dumbasses who ran our foreign policy. But we all knew that the talks were fake and gay anyway, we just needed the time.

Last night I got woken up by an insistent "krinkle-krinkle" and though one of the cats had gotten under the bed and was playing under there. I finally got up and turned on the light, and found that my big tom, who is too big to get under the bed, had hooked out from under the bed one of the 2 lbs bags of cat treats I stashed down there and was eating from it through the hole that one of the kittens had chewed in the corner.
They both gave me the "I am guessing I shouldn't be doing this, should I" look and I just laughed and put the bag up. They have been skulking back there all day looking for treats they may have missed. Posted by: Kindltot at April 12, 2026 12:04 AM (rbvCR) 269

The spouses of politicians are no better than the politicians. They know they married degenerate scum, they did it for money and power and status, and they don't care that the spouses can't keep it in their pants, because they don't either. These sham marriages are just kept going so they can skim some of rakeoff the politician is stealing from me, in exchange for keep quiet about their degenerate scum lifestyles.
All of them should be burned at the fucking stake. I'll try to dig up sympathy for Lady Swallwell on some day when I didn't literally just stuff her pockets with money that could have gone to *my* kids. Nevermind, scratch that, I never will.
